We've had several "Spider-Man" shows and movies, from live-action to animation and video games, each with a unique take, visual style, and tone. Tom Holland's boyish Peter Parker is vastly different from Jake Johnson's jaded Peter B. Parker and Tobey Maguire's tragic, mopey version of the character (which audiences voted as the single best live-action Peter Parker).

Even in animation, we've seen many different interpretations from voice actors across games, TV, and film, portraying Peter as an older man, a newcomer just getting started with his powers, or an established hero. Though there have been many animated "Spider-Man" TV shows, each with their own fans and defenders, one show is usually left out of the conversation — MTV's "Spider-Man: The New Animated Series."

A few weeks ago, I was watching a video essay from a YouTube channel called DanBoyWonder titled “The Lost Art of Action Cartoons!,” which basically stated that we aren’t getting action-oriented shows like Batman: The Animated Series, Ben 10, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Teen Titans, Swat Kats, Gargoyles, Samurai Jack, Justice League, etc., any more. He argued that recent reboots of older animated shows or the overall landscape of animated shows made in America is really bland. He did say that stuff like Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Invincible are decent but not as amazing as the stuff from the good old days. And you know what? I almost agreed with him. But then I realized that any discourse on the current state of American animation is incomplete without bringing up the work that Adi Shankar and his collaborators have done in this space. Castlevania’s four-season run is spectacular.

While fans are expecting that Tom Holland is going to get his Venom arc in Secret Wars, Marvel Studios actually has the opportunity to let another hero take the spotlight. Given that Marvel Legacy’s existence is largely driven by nostalgia and fans being emotionally attached to these characters, it would make sense for one of them to take center stage in Secret Wars.

The film will be the fifth installment of the franchise, marking the return of supernatural horror after over a decade. The late actor Tony Todd will be seen for the last time on the screen, serving his fans a glimpse of his enigma in the Final Destination franchise.

Todd has been an inseparable part of Final Destination since its inception, featuring in four out of five released films: Final Destination (2000), Final Destination 2 (2003), and Final Destination 5 (2011). Final Destination: Bloodlines will be his fifth and last visit to the franchise, reprising his Bludworth Funeral Homes owner role.
