Back when WarnerMedia (which technically no longer exists in the same form) announced that it would be premiering its entire slate of 2021 films on HBO Max, this is the kind of month they likely had in mind. For HBO Max’s list of new releases in August 2021 is highlighted by an honest-to-goodness blockbuster.
The Suicide Squad is set to premiere Aug. 5 on HBO Max. This film featuring some of DC Comics’ most curious villains borrows its name, format, and many of its characters from the David Ayers-directed 2016 film Suicide Squad. This time around, the rogues gallery is directing by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) and his colorful disposition. In addition to The Suicide Squad, August sees the arrival of the Hugh Jackman-starring Reminiscence on Aug. 20.

For a while, it felt like Jackie Chan wanted to get out of action movies, at least the type that he was so well-known for throughout the years, but Vanguard really feels like something that he’s done before and is bound to be seen as the same in a lot of ways since it has a lot of fighting, a lot of action, and even looks like it might have a bit of comedy in there as well. But being classified as adventure spy-thriller drama makes it sound as though it will be something more like The Foreigner, which saw

Although they’ve never really been seriously considered by official voters, The Go-Go’s are your favorites for 2021 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They received 20% of the vote in our recent poll asking which snubbed band most deserves to be chosen to be inducted. Melissa Etheridge was tops in our separate poll about overlooked female artists. Look out for our poll featuring male artists soon.
The all-female group from the 1980s originally was started by Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Elissa Bello and Margot Olavarria. Other members who would most likely receive induction would be Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine and Paula Jean Brown. They beat out Duran Duran with 13% and The B-52’s with 11%.
At the delayed 2020 induction ceremony for the Hof, bands Depeche Mode, Doobie Brothers, Nine Inch Nails and T-Rex are finally getting their due.

Brian Howe, who was Bad Company’s lead singer for eight years and sang on a mid-’80s Ted Nugent’s album, died Wednesday of a heart attack while en route to a hospital near his home in Lake Placid, Fl. He was 66.
England native Howe took over for original Bad Company vocalist Paul Rodgers in 1986 and remained with the band for eight years. Recruited by Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke on a recommendation by Foreigner’s Mick Jones, Howe sang on and toured behind four of the band’s studio albums — three of which went gold — and its 1993 live disc. During his tenure, the group racked up eight top 10 singles on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart, including the No. 1 hits “Holy Water” (1990) and “How About That” (1992) — the latter topping that chart for six weeks.
Before joining the British hard rock band, Howe sang lead on Nugent’s 1984 album Penetrator.

While one of the most famous space operas of modern times—the Skywalker Saga—concluded last year, 2020 still has a number of fantastic tales aboard starships to look forward to. Some are dystopian, some are hopeful, and some tie into our favorite franchises. With plenty of Star Wars and Star Trek novels and television seasons to look forward to, it’s time to boldly take your reading (and watching!) where no reader has gone before…
January Star Trek: Picard on CBS All Access
There are only a few people who embody Star Trek as much as Sir Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard, and fans are rightly excited to have him back on the screen through CBS’s All Access. It’s also exciting to have celebrated spec fic novelist Michale Chabon on the writing team alongside Hanelle M. Culpepper, Kirsten Beyer (Star Trek: Discovery), and Akiva Goldman. Given that the...

Now, her rendition of Foreigner‘s “I Want to Know What Love Is” is her big comeback story (watch above). After all four coaches did their best to try to woo Toneisha onto their teams, she made a shocking decision by choosing … Team Blake!

Another week of America’s Got Talent: The Champions brought another series of questionable decisions made by the judges.
Howie Mandel was in possession of this week’s Golden Buzzer, and while I don’t blindly agree with every decision he makes (Hans!!!), I still believe in his right to choose. Sadly, Simon Cowell took that right from him midway through Monday’s episode, reaching across the table and slamming his hand down on the Golden Buzzer in support of — wait for it — Boogie Storm.

A mysterious package. A variety of interested parties. And only one man stands in their way.
After enjoying a few action movie hits at the box office, Steven Seagal started appearing in a string of straight-to-video action flicks after 2003's Half Past Dead was panned by critics and mostly ignored at the box office. The movies kept Seagal working and his fanbase (mostly) satisfied, and started with 2003's The Foreigner.
Seagal stars as Jonathan Cold, a former deep cover agent, or "foreigner," who now works freelance delivering high-risk packages. When Jonathan is hired to take a mysterious package from France to Germany, he soon learns that there is a swarm of different factions that want to get their hands on it. Shot entirely in Poland, The Foreigner is one of the few of Seagal's "strictly home entertainment"-era movies to get a sequel — 2005's Black Dawn.

Steven Seagal and Matt Schulze will star in Franchise Films' Out of Reach, with Po-Chih Leong directing. Production has begun in Poland. The actor worked with Franchise on the Screen Gems titles The Foreigner and Half Past Dead. Schulze, repped by Writers & Artists Agency and David Gardner at Principato-Young Entertainment, next stars in Warner Bros. Pictures' Torque. Recent credits include The Transporter and Blade 2.
