Kids’ content is a dominating force on digital platforms–and a big business, with giants like Moonbug, Pinkfong, and WildBrain making tens or hundreds of millions of dollars from IPs they built on YouTube.
Now a new company, helmed by a team of writers, directors, producers, and executives with experience at YouTube, Nickelodeon, Disney, Apple TV+, and Max, wants a slice of that pie.
The Kids’ Table, which describes itself as “a premium content company for creators and brands,” launched this week, promising it “will provide the expertise to deliver high-quality, evergreen stories and build franchises that reach kids wherever they are, on screens, platforms, and devices worldwide.”
It’ll do that by offering individual content creators and companies original IP development, help with adapting existing IPs into other mediums, content slate building, production resources, and licensing. It says digital distribution of these IPs on YouTube “will play a key role” in its overall strategy.

The new, gender-flipped Disney+ series version of Holes has just announced its cast and some character details. It's shaping up to look very different indeed from the 2003 adaption of the famous book by Louis Sachar.
First off, Shay Rudolph of The Baby-Sitters Club will be playing the main character, who is no longer a boy named Stanley but a girl named Hayley.Deadline has the details on her: she will be "full of heart and tired of her family’s belief that fate is fixed; her arrival will inject new hope and optimism into her campmates."
Greg Kinnear will play The Warden, a gender-flipped version of the sinister character played by Sigourney Weaver in the original movie. He has what seems like a good reason for having delinquent girls come out to Camp Yucca (Camp Green Lake in the original) to dig holes, but he has a dark secret. Aidy Bryant will play Sissy,...

Kinnear’s Warden is followed wholeheartedly by Bryant’s character, Sissy, who is “overflowing with camp counselor energy,” according to her character description. While she seems to be a trustworthy big sister figure to the girls, her allegiance lies with the Warden.

Marvel's Agatha All Along star, Kathryn Hahn, is reportedly being considered for the role of Mother Gothel in Disney's Tangled remake. The original 2010 musical is a retelling of the classic Brothers Grimm tale where a young woman with extraordinarily long hair, Rapunzel, escapes her tower and journeys through the world. The live-action remake was announced last year, but since then, Disney has released very few details. The Greatest Showman's Michael Gracey is rumored to be directing, but there is still no official casting. This has left fans with ample time to speculate and whip up dream casts for the film.
Hahn made a lasting impression on Disney+ audiences as the diabolical Agatha Harkness in WandaVision. From The Jungle Book (2016) to the new Mufasa: The Lion King (2024), we are living in an age of Disney remakes. But while the feature films might be hit or miss with some fans, Disney+ might be digging up some old bones for a new generation in a new series.
At the time of writing, Disney is currently developing a TV series inspired by Louis Sachar's Holes, taking inspiration from both the novel and the 2003 Disney adaptation. While this writer would argue that the mouse got it right the first time, a report from Variety shares Disney's new plans for the beloved film.

Lost is still one of the most beloved (and divisive) TV shows ever released. The hit drama/mystery first aired on ABC in 2004, as the passengers of Oceanic Flight 815 crash-landed on the mysterious island, forced to fight every day to survive in the harsh and mysterious wilderness. Lost recently gained a second life in 2024, after all six seasons were added to Netflix. The move to streaming renewed interest in the acclaimed series which defined "water cooler talk" during the '00s. With the newfound fan base, many are calling for a potential revival/reboot, something which series writer, Drew Goddard, isn't ruling out.
During an interview with Variety, Drew Goddard addressed the potential for a Lost revival. Officially speaking, "nothing is in the works." However, Goddard said he'd always be open to returning to the unnamed island. "Never say never," the writer said. Goddard shared his love for his former cast and crew,...

Disney+ is bringing Holes back to life with a new TV series adaptation, and the project has officially been ordered to pilot. The series will reimagine Louis Sachar’s beloved 1998 novel, but this time, it introduces a fresh twist by centering the story around a teenage girl.
Like the original, the new protagonist finds herself at a detention camp where the Warden forces campers to dig mysterious holes in the desert.
The original book followed Stanley Yelnats, a boy sent to Camp Green Lake for a crime he didn’t commit. Over time, Stanley uncovers his family’s deep connection to the camp and its secrets. Published in 1998, the novel became a massive success, winning the National Book Award and the Newbery Medal, and selling millions of copies worldwide.
Sachar also penned a sequel, Small Steps, and a companion book, Stanley Yelnats’ Survival Guide to Camp Green Lake.

Louis Sachar’s beloved book Holes is getting the Disney treatment once again, this time for a Disney+ series.
There’s a lot of affection for 2003’s Holes, the Andrew Davis-directed Disney film that adapted Louis Sachar’s 1998 novel. It’s a charming adventure, based on a novel that fits satisfyingly together like a Swiss watch.
It also features great villainous turns from no less than Sigourney Weaver, Jon Voight and Tim Blake Nelson. You’ll also find a wide-eyed, young Shia Lebeouf before his career swerved into controversy and accusations of extending method acting to not washing on set (during the making of Fury).
As the House of Mouse loves to do, Disney is once again mining its back catalogue and reviving Holes for a new generation. Thankfully, it’s not making another movie – because a perfectly good one already exists – and so instead, we’re getting Sachar...

Disney+ just filled a hole in their programming lineup. A new TV series adaptation of the popular YA novel Holes, which the studio previously adapted into a film in 2003, is in the works at the streamer. Variety reports that the series has been ordered to pilot. Drew Goddard didn’t have any designs on returning to broadcast. But then ABC asked him to take a look at the French-Belgian series “Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (Hpi)” — and it immediately inspired to turn it into the Alphabet primetime procedural “High Potential.”
“The last thing I wanted to do at that time was go back to network television,” Goddard says. “Not because I have any disdain for network television. It’s just, I know what a grind and how hard network television is. And yet when I saw the show, I thought, ‘Oh, that’s pretty special. That approach feels very unique.’ Putting the single mom in the center of the police procedural felt necessary to right now, and more importantly, I just couldn’t stop thinking about it.”

John Stamos is partly to blame for the Olsen Twins Fuller House absence, due to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's decision to pass on the reunion project in 2016. Netflix released the spin-off sequel to the beloved '80s/'90s family sitcom, Full House, with the main cast all returning — except the Olsen twins in their shared role as Michelle. The youngest Tanner sister was nowhere to be found after Fuller House failed to convince the Olsen twins to join the show. Instead, Kimmy — the Tanners' long-time neighbor — became a lead character in the sequel, effectively taking over Michelle's would-be spot.
Fuller House explained the absence of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen by revealing Michelle was now based in New York running a fashion empire. Michelle was a major draw in the original Full House, and not seeing Danny's youngest daughter throughout Fuller House's five-year run was definitely disappointing. Although the...

In 2006, Mel Gibson was just about the most controversial guy in Hollywood. But he was, let’s all admit it, still an icon of the screen. As such, some people still had a lot of faith in him. And that faith would be translated in Hacksaw Ridge. There was the faith of its central figure, Desmond Doss; that which the producers and studio put into Gibson; and that which Gibson himself had in the project, which would tell of a conscientious objector during World War II. A gamble? Absolutely. A success? Unprecedented. So pick up that weapon, soldier – or, better yet, be at ease – as we find out: What Happened to This Movie?!
Hacksaw Ridge centers around the real-life figure of Desmond Doss, who served as a medic during World War II and became famous for his refusal to carry a weapon. Even still, he is credited with saving 75 lives while in action.

Francis Ford Coppola’s next epic is here, and he’s amassed a pretty huge cast to bring it to life. And odds are, you’re going to recognize quite a few of those faces.

Cesar Catalina (Driver) has a vision for a utopia built with a brand new element that he discovered and won a Nobel prize for. But not everyone wants to see him succeed in doing so.
It’s a pretty thick plot, so we won’t pick that apart here. For now, we’re just going to help you place some of those faces on screen.
Here are all the major players in Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis.”

Junji Ito is the master of horror in manga, with his name being synonymous with the genre. Specializing in body horror, his works unnerve and creep out in the best ways. This has made him a staple of spooky manga, though some works are scarier than others.
Honing his craft throughout the years, Junji Ito has produced manga that continue to creep out fans who've read them. These include various anthologies as well as more connected stories that are united by a single terrifying element. Perhaps the scariest part of these works is how they turn the most unexpected concepts into frigthful venues, with the scariest Junji Ito work of them all turning a spiral into a circle of death.
