Time of the Wolf (2002)
A boy makes an unusual and dangerous friend in this family drama. Aaron McGregor is a young boy who, after the death of his parents, goes to live with his aunt and uncle in a rural community. Aaron feels like an outcast in his new home, not accepted by his schoolmates and receiving little in the way of support or affection from his Aunt Rebecca. One of the few things that comforts Aaron is the sound of a pack of wolves who howl on the prairies late in the night. When a band of farmers attempt to kill the animals, Aaron discovers one is still alive and he attempts to nurse the survivor back to health. However, while Aaron is happy with his new friend, he learns the hard way that keeping a wolf under wraps is no easy task.

    A boy and a wolf

This is a film of nature at its best where humans and our lesser brethren can work in harmony. When the Creator of the world finished his work He rested and on reflection said it was all good ! This film gives an insight of the strongest ties in mankind - the Creator's love. All ages would gain wisdom and understanding from this movie. A heartwarming family drama about finding friendship in the unlikeliest of places. The movie: Time of the Wolf with Burt Reynolds and Jason Priestley was produced in 2002 in USA. The leading boy in the movie is Aaron McGregor. Check you have the right movie as there are other movies by the same title.

    fine family film

After the death of his parents, Aaron is forced to live with his estranged uncle Archie McGregor (Burt Reynolds) and Archie's wife Rebecca (Marthe Keller). Mr. Nelson (Jason Priestley) is his new teacher and he gets a new bully. The locals are going on a wolf hunt. Aaron finds an injured wolf in its den and helps to bring it back to health.

This is a fine family film from Canada. The most noteworthy is the presence of Burt Reynolds. He's older but still very much in charge. The kid is fine. The bully is a bit much but that's not unexpected. I was expecting a different result from the bear traps. All in all, this is fine.

A hidden gem. Superb family movie.

A boy is orphaned and his only surviving relatives, an ageing aunt and uncle, somewhat reluctantly, take him in. The aunt, still traumatised by the death by drowning, years earlier, of her own two sons, has little idea how to handle the boy. As if, losing his parents and not really feeling welcome in his new home, were not enough, the boy is bullied at school. He seeks sanctuary from all of his troubles in the open air, in the company of wolves and particularly in the presence of a young wolf whose life he has saved. Burt Reynolds, as the uncle and Jason Priestley, as the schoolmaster, are both excellent in unusually tender roles and Marthe Keller is convincing as the troubled aunt. But it is a personable and talented young actor of huge potential, Devin Douglas Drewitz who steals the show. This young man, who first sprang to prominence in Steven Spielberg's, Taken, playing young Charlie Keys, will, God-willing, be around for years to come and will soon get the starring role that he deserves.

    Families may like it but...

I'd like to know if this was meant to be stylised as a 1950's movie or if just was that bad. Ben Hur music, 2D characters, patriarchal overlays plus, stilted conversations, bogus dramatic scenes (*finds the book "Yes. He was here")

But kids and some adults will like it. Safe movie for a Sunday school movie night. 2003? Really?
