Picking up from the party at the end of Shrek, this musical short takes the form of a karaoke party with all the main characters getting down and letting rip with a collection of songs. Best place to find it is on the DVD or as an extra on the video but it is worth finding.
The song at the end of Shrek is cool (I loved the Vic Reeves version and this is close to that), but the dance party short takes it to another level. The party continues the adult/child humour of the film and is very funny indeed given that it's only a few minutes long.
Each character pretty much has a turn and the songs are very funny (I won't spoil it by naming the songs). Some are hilarious, some are cool and only one is a bit too slow to match the mood of the short. The whole short is fun and adds to the party feeling that was present at the end of Shrek.
Overall this isn't worth watching by itself but is a very, very welcome companion to the film. In about 5 minutes it manages to be so cool it's classic, so funny you'll almost cry and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face no matter what.

Apparently the guys who made "Shrek" didn't think their movie was funny enough on its own (which it was) so they had to throw in some extra bonus junk. Unlike the outtakes shown over the end credits of the Pixar films "A Bug's Life," "Toy Story 2," and "Monsters, Inc.," this didn't seem half as inspired.
The sing-along was cute... the first time through. Fortunately it's a bonus feature on the DVD; the VHS copies stuck it in right before the end credits. I guess that's why they made the fast forward button on the remote.

I was watching it at my friends house and I'd already seen it so I wasn't extremely excited. The movie ended and we were just sitting there there talking when it came on. When donkey started singing "I like big butts and i cannot lie" I fell off my chair laughing. (and it was one of those humongous chairs- i slept on it once and it was better than my bed- so it was almost impossible to fall off of) As soon as my friend and i returned it I rented it again to watch with my sister- and i almost died waiting for that part to come on
Nice little addition here to the Shrek DVD, a sing-a-long with all the major (and minor) characters. Hits like YMCA (the 'gay' Robin Hood gang), Like a Virgin (princess Fiona) and staying alive (Lord Farquaad) come along, and it's all wonderfully animated and fun to watch. I love it when everybody bursts out in 'Dance to the Music'. It's hard not to...
Not quite sure if all the youngsters (the more apparent segment this extra is aiming at) will understand all the little jokes made (for instance in the YMCA bit), but I'm sure they'll love it as well. As will most parents, as did I!
7/10.

Additionally for the DVD release, is an extended ending to Shrek the Original.
Everyone you know from the blockbuster hit is part of a montage of copyrighted music.
A lot of it is recent and classic hits that everyone knows about.
Overrall it makes the movie feel 4 minutes longer than it is. And Feonious the punisher giving out his own beat is priceless every time I watch it. As well as the climax "Dance to the Music".
It's something that all Shrek fans will enjoy to watch along with the movie itself.
