‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 4: Everything We Know So Far
Image
Picture: Netflix

The tables will be turned on Mickey in season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer. Instead of interrogating or trying to absolve defendants, he will be the defendant himself after the shocking cliffhanger at the end of season 3. With the renewal long in the rear-view mirror of our Lincoln and production soon coming to a close, we thought we should give you an updated guide on everything that’s currently known about season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer, which does not yet have an official release date.

It was on January 21st, 2025, when Netflix finally gave the thumbs up to another season of the series led by co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, although thanks to Neve Campbell suggesting earlier in the year she’d already signed up for 10 more episodes, it seemed like it was already in the bag early on.

The show continues to be a big hit for Netflix.

Image

The project features a cast that includes Jim Cummings, Jeremy Holm, Taylor Misiak, Grace Van Dien, and newcomer Stella Marcus. ‘A Hard Place’ Trailer – Monsters vs. Creatures vs. Felissa Rose
Image
The distinction between monster and creature is rather nebulous, with the terms “monster movie” and “creature feature” often used interchangeably.

In the case of A Hard Place, however, monsters that roam the day and creatures that rule the night are separate entities, and they’re both out to kill genre favorites like Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp).

The indie horror-thriller will be released on VOD on May 27.

After a botched job leaves a trail of bodies behind, a gang of desperate criminals seeks refuge in a remote desert hideout. But their plans fall apart fast when they discover the area is home to something far worse than the law — an ancient war between monstrous predators of day and night. As tensions rise and the body count climbs, the crew must decide if survival is worth trusting each other or the creatures hunting them.

Image
Four years have gone by since we heard that Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios, the folks behind Jeepers Creepers: Reborn, were going to be making a reboot of the classic Christmas slasher movie Silent Night, Deadly Night (watch it Here), and while those plans didn’t work out and Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios are no longer involved, a remake is still moving forward. Last November, we learned that the film will be coming our way from Cineverse, the company behind the Terrifier franchise, with writer/director Mike P. Nelson at the helm. A couple of months ago, Sixth Dimension, the new in-house genre label at Studiocanal, picked up the global rights (excluding North America) to the project. And just yesterday, it was announced that Rohan Campbell of Halloween Ends has signed on to play Billy Chapman, who dons a Santa Claus costume and goes on a killing spree in the film.

Step aside, Anaconda! Lionsgate has picked up upcoming creature feature Titan
Image
There's a new creature feature to keep an eye on, and no, it's not the upcoming Anaconda reboot. However, that one should definitely be on your radar too! It's another giant snake horror movie called Titan, and Lionsgate has just obtained the rights to distribute the film in the United States.

We first learned of this movie back in February 2024. Resident Evil producers Constantin Film and Jb Pictures were revealed to be behind the project with Mike P. Nelson as director. Nelson had also signed on to co-write the script with Alan B. McElroy. We later learned that Tony Giglio (Doom: Annihilation) would also be helping write the script. In addition, Robert Kulzer of Constantin Film and Jeremy Bolt of Jb Pictures serve as producers. Executive producers include Sam Hall and Michael Rothstein for north.five.six.

Talented actresses Kiana Madeira and Jessica Rothe lead the cast. Both are modern scream queens.

This Ridiculously Entertaining Slasher Sequel Tears Reality TV to Pieces
Image
A successful horror sequel should build on the set-up of the original and up the stakes to provide something new within the established world. It sounds simple enough, but often sequels can struggle to surpass the legacy of the original and just end up falling flat. That is not the case with Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, which takes a relatively standard cannibal slasher in Wrong Turn and injects even more gore, as well as crafting a much more compelling story. With Joe Lynch in the director's chair, known for Mayhem and Suitable Flesh, the sequel ended up becoming a genuinely fun slasher flick that also offers a surprisingly relevant commentary on reality TV.

This Relentlessly Chilling Horror Is the Creepiest Found Footage Movie You’ve Never Heard Of
Image
If you’ve ever wanted to experience Wrong Turn with the personal touch of found footage, Crowsnest puts us right in the middle of the cat-and-mouse chase between unwitting travelers and cannabalistic locals. This brand of survival horror has been around for decades, with Wrong Turn being one of many that have clawed their way into the canon of terrifying isolated assailants, but adding the found footage element is what makes Crowsnest stand out. Directed by Brenton Spencer, the Canadian indie horror was critically panned when it was first released and thus has gone under the radar. While its poor reception is somewhat deserved, there are some genuinely shocking scares that are made so effective due to the blend of the two formats, making it a worthwhile turn-your-brain-off kind of watch.

This Controversial Horror Franchise Is (Somehow) Still Alive After 22 Years and 7 Duds

Quick Links Wrong Turn Capitalized On Violence & Gore It's The Most Successful Franchise With These Themes There's A Harsh Reality About This Fandom Somehow, The Reboot Resulted In Renewed Interest

Few horror sub-genres have been able to entertain viewers over generations as consistently as the slasher concept. The tropes in this genre are widespread and embrace the gory, brutal terror of horror, introducing different types of narratives that bring in a vast audience. From lengthy series like Scream to modern sensations like Ti West's X trilogy, the bloody, depraved concepts of slasher stories are alive and well. While some of these movies have obvious qualities that make them a part of pop culture, other films are shockingly popular.

There aren't many other slasher franchises quite as disturbing as the Wrong Turn series, which began in 2003 and had its latest installment in 2021. The creepy concept of inbred cannibalistic hillbillies was...

Warfare trailer: Alex Garland film is set in 2006 Iraq
Image
By the time director Alex Garland’s film Civil War (you can read our review Here) was released earlier this year, Garland was already working on another war movie called Warfare, co-directing it with Ray Mendoza, who served as the military supervisor for Civil War. Garland and Mendoza also wrote the screenplay together. While Civil War was a dystopian film that imagined a new Civil War breaking out in the United States, Warfare is set during a real war, the story taking viewers back to 2006 Iraq. A24 will be giving the film a theatrical release sometime in 2025, but even though a specific release date has not yet been announced, the first trailer for the film has been unveiled. You can watch it in the embed above.

Warfare embeds audiences with a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, overwatching the movement of US forces through insurgent territory.

Soul Survivors (2001) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Image
Theres always that strange transition period in horror movies where things can get lost in the shuffle. The 70s and its nihilism broke late in the decade to swerve into masked killers and the slasher genre. That heyday was far shorter than people remember but the late 80s did something similar in transitioning to straight to video smash successes and a crazy number of sequels and adaptations. That well, too, would dry up, and when Wes Craven released Scream in 1996, the landscape would shift to smart slashers and then found footage. The teen slasher era was first with things like Urban Legend, Scream sequels, Disturbing Behavior, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and hell, even Final Destination posits literal death as a slasher villain. These are more along the lines of the top shelf example but one that could qualify for a best horror movie you never saw And...

Divisive 1980s Christmas Horror Movie Is Getting A Second Reboot, Terrifier 3 Producers Attached
Image
A divisive Christmas horror movie from the 1980s is getting a second remake. The biggest horror remake boom occured in the 2000s, when a bevy of iconic horror titles were rebooted including Dawn of the Dead, Friday the 13th, Halloween, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Last House on the Left, The House on Sorority Row and more. However, remakes have been produced throughout horror history, including the prominent 1980s examples The Thing and The Blob, and the tradition has continued into the modern era with titles including 2020's The Invisible Man, 2022's Firestarter, and 2024's Salem's Lot.

Christmas horror movies are another longstanding tradition of the genre, as many filmmakers have found unique ways to blend the wholesome iconography of the season with bloody murder and mayhem, creating an unsettling juxtaposition. One of the most famous is Bob Clark's 1974 proto-slasher Black Christmas, which itself has been remade twice,...

One Of The Most Infamous Horror Movies Ever Is Finally Getting A Reboot
Image
In a bit of surprising but quite possibly welcome news (depending on who you ask), one of the most controversial and infamous horror movies of the 1980s is getting a reboot. "Silent Night, Deadly Night," the Christmas slasher focused on a guy dressed up as Santa Claus murdering people, is getting a new shot at life. What's more, the company behind the "Terrifier" franchise is making it happen. Buckle up.

According to Deadline, Cineverse is backing this reimagining of director Charles E. Sellier Jr.'s "Silent Night, Deadly Night." Production is already expected to begin soon, with Mike P. Nelson, of "Wrong Turn" (2021) fame, in the director's chair. Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead, who executive produced the original 1984 film, are returning to produce this iteration as well. Jamie R. Thompson is also producing alongside Brandon Hill and Brad Miska. Brandon Hill, Cineverse Executive Director of Acquisitions, had this to say...

‘Psychopomp’ Images and Clip Tease Foster Nightmare Thriller Starring Shawnee Smith
Image
Film Mode Entertainment has announced the acquisition of Psychopomp, a new horror thriller starring Saw mainstay Shawnee Smith and produced by Final Destination creator Jeffrey Reddick. The news comes with first look images and a clip previewing a family’s bizarre nightmare.

The horror film is written and directed by Paul Etheredge.

Psychopomp follows “a couple, Robin and Daniel – long struggling with infertility – as they realize their dreams of parenthood by welcoming an orphan, Kathelia, into their home. The film stars Olivia Macklin, Dylan McTee, Avangeline Friedlander, Shawnee Smith, Lily D. Moore, and Morgana Shaw.

The Wrong Turn Franchise Is a Mess, But Its Best Kill Almost Makes It Worth It
Image
The Wrong Turn franchise ironically took a wrong turn after the first two movies, and the series really exhausted its less-than-exciting concept. Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings introduces more uninteresting cannon fodder but moves away from the woodland setting to an abandoned asylum in the middle of a snow storm. With all the antagonistic cannibals killed off in the first three movies, Wrong Turn 4 became a prequel in order to bring them back. Despite going back to the cannibal family's origins, the movie does not return to the franchises roots. Its over-sexualised and gruesome, everything you come to expect from a Wrong Turn sequel. However, the kills are its one saving grace, but you have to wait right until the movies climax to see the one that makes it worth its runtime.

Revisiting the Visceral Frights of Over-Hated Found Footage Movie ‘Chernobyl Diaries’
Image
The desire to blend reality and fiction in film predates the Found Footage genre by literal decades, with classics like The Legend of Boggy Creek and even the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre dipping their toes into documentary-inspired filmmaking long before in-universe-cameras became popular.

Of course, it was only after The Blair Witch Project that creators would realize both the creative and financial potential of making movies like this – and when it comes to lucrative Pov thrills, very few could compete with Oren Peli and his DIY Paranormal Activity franchise. For over a decade, these films dominated the box-office with formulaic yet consistently entertaining scares made on a budget, with their success allowing the programmer-turned-filmmaker to invest in other spooky projects. And while I’ve already covered Peli’s over-hated Area 51 on a previous edition of The Silver Lining, today we’ll be discussing one of his most unique...

The Infamously Gruesome Wrong Turn Is Inspired by a 500-Year-Old Story
Image
Some of the greatest horror movies draw inspiration from real-life killers. Whether it be Henry Lee Lucas's influence on Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986) or Ed Gein's influence on Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960), true crime and horror have long gone hand in hand. Yet, there is one infamous family of cannibals that has had a substantial influence on film, literature, and video games whose victims were said to be over a thousand, the notorious Sawney Bean family.

One of the best movies to bring this legend to light is Rob Schmidt's shocking 2003 film Wrong Turn. The 2000s horror movie was an early purveyor of extreme cinema in the mainstream, predating 2004's Saw and 2005's Wolf Creek. The movie was a hit with fans and would go on to spawn many sequels and a remake; with such gruesome inspiration, it is not a surprise Wrong Turn saw success among horror hounds.

Do You Remember These 30+ USA Network Original Horror Movies Released from 1989-2004?
Image
Before USA Network became series-focused, the cable channel delivered a steady stream of weekly original movies. Many of which were produced by McA (now NBCUniversal). And during this era — between the late 1980s and early 2000s — USA offered a variety of genres; action and suspense were the most common, but horror also came up from time to time.

Especially around Halloween.

USA Network is no longer in the business of airing these “World Premiere Movies,” horror or otherwise, and there haven’t been great strides to bring all of them to streaming or modern home video. However, the horror entries certainly have their merits as well as fans.

See if you can remember these original movies from USA Network’s horror history.

ISTANBUL: Location scout. ABAKUS.
Thriller ‘Clutch’ Wraps Production: Featuring Sadie Katz, Kaiwi Lyman, Mike Ferguson, and Augie Duke
ISTANBUL: Location scout. ABAKUS.
Director Michael Merino’s upcoming action-thriller “Clutch,” starring Sadie Katz (Wrong Turn 6), Kaiwi Lyman (Den of Thieves), Augie Duke (Mayans M.C.), Mike Ferguson (Showdown at the Grand), with Michael Pare’ (Streets of Fire) and Vernon Wells (Mad Max 2) has wrapped production and is headed into post.

“Clutch” was partially inspired by true events; writer-producer Michael Merino based the story on a real life car-jacking of a female rideshare-driver who was taken hostage by a criminal on the run from his less-than-law-abiding accomplices, who were involved in a deleterious enterprise that was never solved.

According to the official logline, “Clutch” follows the story of Tonya (Sadie Katz), whose life is in a bit of a shambles and works as a share-driver to make ends-meet, and is under the thumb of her sugar daddy (Michael Pare’). One evening while working Tonya is car-jacked and finds herself in the dark underbelly of the city’s mob.

Wrong Turn: The Real Inspiration For The Movie Explained
Image
Given how outrageous and over-the-top the horror franchise is, it is surprising that Wrong Turn is based on a true story to some extent. With seven films to date, the Wrong Turn franchise has been something of a sleeper hit with horror fans. The first movie in 2003 follows a group of travelers who end up meeting in the West Virginia backcountry after a cannibal family sabotages their cars and leaves them vulnerable to being hunted. The original movie was the only installment to get a theatrical release; the rest were launched in a direct-to-video format.

The three cannibals in Wrong Turn Saw Tooth, One Eye, and Three Finger got more of a backstory in future installments, with Wrong Turn 4 serving as a prequel to the series. The movie embraced the extreme gore and violence, with few characters surviving. Even with the outlandish ways the franchise evolved, the Wrong Turn series...

Wolf Man: A Closer Look At The Werewolf Has Been Revealed - But Is This The Official Movie Monster Design?
Image
Yesterday, we got our first look at what was believed to be the new Wolfman design for Universal and Blumhouse's upcoming reboot (titled Wolf Man), with an actor donning a monster costume to jump out at passers-by at Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights takeover attraction.

The reveal was met with a decidedly mixed response (and we're probably being kind there) from fans, most of whom felt that the titular lycanthrope looked more like some kind of mutant hillbilly from the Wrong Turn movies than an actual werewolf.

There was speculation that this might simply be a guy in a thrown-together outfit and not indicative of the Wolfman's official look, but insider Daniel Richtman believes this is indeed how the creature will be depicted in the movie - though it is said to "look slightly better in the actual film."

It's certainly... a choice! But we're sure it will look at lot better in the movie,...

10 Horror Movies That Ripped Off The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
Image
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre inspired countless rip-offs that shaped the horror genre for years to come. Some films, like The Butcher, failed to capture the essence of the original, lacking in quality and innovation. Standout movies like House of the Devil and Wrong Turn successfully paid homage to the iconic Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was among the most influential horror movies ever made, and in the years since its release, there have been countless imitators and copycat movies. Director Tobe Hooper created a new type of horror as he depicted the unstoppable serial killer Leatherface, which would signal the dawn of a new era of over-the-top violence and the use of power tools as a murder weapon. While some rip-offs of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre were blatant cash grabs, others truly added to its concept and led to movies that could be enjoyed on their own merits.

This 27-Year-Old Teen Slasher Remains an Underrated Classic
Image
I Know What You Did Last Summer revitalized the teen slasher genre with its beach town setting. The film featured fantastic chase scenes that kept audiences on the edge of their seats. Despite mixed reviews, I Know What You Did Last Summer's legacy lives on with sequels and a planned 2025 reboot.

The late 90s ushered in a new wave of horror films dubbed the post-Scream-slasher. From The Faculty to Urban Legend, Hollywood was eager to capitalize off the success of Scream. While the eruption of teen slashers brought cult classics and got horror fans excited again, one film...

‘Wrong Turn’ – How Does the Survival Horror Movie Hold Up 21 Years Later?
Image
May of 2003 was almost bone-dry for big-screen horror until 20th Century Fox released Wrong Turn; director Rob Schmidt and screenwriter Alan B. McElroy’s collaboration arrived in theaters the weekend after Memorial Day. Later on, the fairly successful film inspired a whole franchise of follow-ups, which exceeded the original in terms of sheer gruesomeness. However, this underrated offering of backwoods horror still delivers in areas its direct descendants do not.

As a reflection of the real world, horror steadily became urbanized. The late 1990s had all but abandoned the great outdoors as a dreadful destination and backdrop, especially in the wake of Scream. No longer did characters have to leave their neighborhood in order to feel threatened. The next decade, however, saw a comeback for travel terror; vacations overseas and across borders commonly unfolded in horrific fashion, and local sojourns, like that of Wrong Turn, did not turn out any better.

[Review] Walk A Mile In A Madman’s Shoes with Gory Slasher In A Violent Nature
Image
Have you ever wanted to see a Friday the 13th movie from Jason Voorhees‘ perspective? What if instead of following around a group of sex-crazed college kids you were just riding shotgun with the killer during his gory rampage through the cursed campground? Well good news you sick, twisted maniac! Chris Nash’s In A Violent Nature is exactly that- A gory forest bound slasher told (almost) exclusively through the eyes of a masked madman back from the dead to seek revenge.

After a group of campers steal a gold locket from a collapsed fire tower, they find themselves hunted by Johnny, the boogeyman of this particular backwoods area. He wants his locket back, and he’ll stop at nothing until it’s in his cold, dead hands again. So, while they smoke pot and drink, tell campfire stories and hook up, Johnny sloooowly makes his way to their camp,...

What Is the Synanon Model in Netflix's The Program?
Image
Quick Links The Synanon Program Was a Prison for Teens Synanon Practices and Repercussions Synanon was a harmful cult disguised as a therapy center that brainwashed and abused troubled teens. The Program on Netflix exposed the dark truth behind organizations like Synanon that traumatized many. Teens were kidnapped and manipulated, and parents brainwashed, in a multi-million-dollar industry of destructive cults.

While there are, of course, numerous cults in the world, each with its own erroneous beliefs, they are seldom brought to light. These are not the ones we see in films like Wrong Turn, which brutally slaughter people but rather erode society from within. The new Netflix documentary The Program: Cons, Cults, and Kidnapping offered an insightful take on one of the world's most detrimental establishments.

In the documentary, Synanon was described as a religious movement that helped troubled teens through therapy sessions, but in reality, they were forced to leave their homes,...

The Godzilla And Kong Movies Need A New Director – Here Are Our Picks
Image
The MonsterVerse has, somewhat quietly, become one of the most reliable franchises going in Hollywood at the moment. For a full decade dating back to 2014's "Godzilla" right up through this year's "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire," these films have built up a loyal audience with no signs of fatigue on the part of the viewers. While Warner Bros. and Legendary are quickly looking to get a new installment going, they will need a new director, as we recently learned that Adam Wingard will not be returning to the helm. So, who should take his place?

Wingard is the only filmmaker to direct two MonsterVerse installments, having helmed 2021's "Godzilla vs. Kong" as well as "The New Empire," which now ranks as the highest-grossing "Godzilla" movie ever. So sure, the studio would probably have liked him to return, but he's busy with other projects. Besides, that just opens the...

New Horror Movie Tarot Looks Like A Box Office Bomb – But It Could Be A Sneaky Hit
Image
There has been much pessimism floating around regarding this past weekend's box office. I myself have tossed some of that pessimism into the void. Much of that has to do with the fact that the summer movie season kicked off with "The Fall Guy" opening to a wildly disappointing $28.5 million, marking the worst start to summer in more than 20 years. Far less ink has been spilled regarding Sony's new horror movie "Tarot," which also opened over the weekend and snuck into the top five on the domestic charts with a $6.5 million debut. At first glance, it's not a good look for a movie from a major studio opening on more than 3,100 screens across North America. However, this might actually end up being a sneaky little hit.

"Tarot" also pulled in $3.7 million internationally, giving it a $10.2 million global start. Again, that number isn't going to break any records. It's not...

Could Alex Garland's Warfare Be a Civil War Prequel?
Image
Quick Links Everything We Know About Warfare Civil War's Prequel Can Explore the Military Factions Civil War's Prequel Can Map the Mysterious President's Past

The following contains spoilers for Civil War, now playing in theaters.

Visionary director Alex Garland loves to keep things close to his chest before and during production. This is why it took fans some time to figure out what movies like Ex Machina and Men were about. That said, this veil keeps that auteur energy going, which other directors like Robert Eggers and Ari Aster encapsulate, too.

This mystique was applied to Garland's Civil War as well. From the trailers, audiences weren't sure if it was just a dystopian action-thriller speaking about American politics, or if it had hidden elements of sci-fi to it. In the end, it's pretty basic yet engaging due to how relevant it is in the 2020s: a story about...

Wrong Turn Movies: Every Character Who Survived The Cannibals
Image
The most characters survive in the 2021 reboot of Wrong Turn, where three make it to the end alive. There is at least one movie in the Wrong Turn franchise where no characters survive at all. The Wrong Turn movie with the lowest kill count was the 2003 original.

The Wrong Turn movies are known for intense, bloody violence and creative dismemberment via the franchise's cannibal killers, and — due to the very high body count — there were only a few survivors throughout the six existing movies. The original Wrong Turn was released in 2003, becoming a modest box office hit. The others were released direct to video until the franchise was rebooted with 2021's Wrong Turn going for a more grounded and serious tone.

Drawing from the cannibal horror sub-genre, which was popularized by movies like Wes Craven's The Hills Have Eyes, the Wrong Turn movies combine elements from that with classic...

Wrong Turn’s Three Finger & Cannibal Killers History Explained
Image
Three Finger, the most popular cannibal killer in the Wrong Turn franchise, has a deep and twisted backstory revealed in later movies. The Odet family, including Maynard and Delilah, birthed a group of deformed children who became the cannibalistic villains in the series. Maynard, the original patriarch, played a role in sending victims to his family, showcasing a mix of regret and complicity in their crimes.

The seven movies in the Wrong Turn franchise center around a family of inbred cannibals, and while there have been different killers in each, Three Finger is the most popular — and well known — of the bunch. Alongside his various family members, Three Finger has racked up an impressive body count and, despite appearing to be killed off briefly at the end of the first film, keeps coming back for more. Currently, Three Finger is the only cannibal to appear in all six movies (though...

Warfare: Noah Centineo, Michael Gandolfini & more cast in Alex Garland’s next war movie
Noah Centineo
Alex Garland may have said that he’s not planning to direct again in the foreseeable future, but he is currently directing another film while his movie Civil War heads out into the world and he works on the scripts for the upcoming 28 Years Later trilogy (a follow-up to his Danny Boyle collaboration 28 Days Later). Garland’s new directorial effort is called Warfare, and he’s co-directing it with Ray Mendoza, who served as the military supervisor for Civil War. Garland and Mendoza also wrote the screenplay together. As Warfare moves forward, Deadline has just revealed the names of several cast members: Noah Centineo (The Recruit), Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark), Taylor John Smith (Where the Crawdads Sing), Adain Bradley (Wrong Turn), Henrique Zaga (The Stand), and Evan Holtzman (Hidden Figures).

They join previously announced cast members Charles Melton (May December...
