"I've Been Doing Stunts The Past Couple Of Days:" Avengers: Doomsday's Nightcrawler Alan Cumming Teases Action-Packed X-Men Scenes
Image
Nightcrawler actor Alan Cumming shares an update on his action scenes alongside his fellow X-Men actors in Avengers: Doomsday. As confirmed by Avengers: Doomsday's cast announcement, several Marvel actors will reprise their roles from Fox's original X-Men trilogy. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool haven't been confirmed to return, but they probably will join the fight in Avengers: Secret Wars.

In an interview with The Telegraph, X-Men star Alan Cumming reveals he has been doing his own stunts on the set of Avengers: Doomsday. Cumming says the stunt team is "gobsmacked" by the actor's flexibility and physique. Twenty-three years before Alan Cumming's return in Avengers: Doomsday, the actor first played Kurt Wagner a.k.

“I was learning stunts yesterday for some fight scene and I just think, I’m 60 years old. Twenty-three years ago, I played that superhero,” Cumming said in a video interview with Buzzfeed UK. “I was kind of old for a superhero even then. And now I’m back doing it. And that, to me, is hilarious.”

Alan Cumming’s Offhand Remark Fuels Avengers: Doomsday Speculation
Alan Cumming
Alan Cumming’s return to Marvel’s cinematic lineup has already created a stir, but it’s an offhand comment during a recent interview that may have ignited a new round of speculation about Avengers: Doomsday. During a promotional conversation with BuzzFeed UK, the actor, known for portraying Nightcrawler in 2003’s X2: X-Men United, shared an anecdote that has led many to believe a key scene in the upcoming film may involve a direct clash with Pedro Pascal’s Mister Fantastic.

Marvel Studios has remained characteristically silent on the storyline of Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to release on May 1, 2026. However, Cumming’s remark—delivered with a casual tone—implied that his character might be involved in an action sequence with Pascal’s Reed Richards. “I was learning stunts yesterday for some fight scene and I just think, I’m 60 years old. 23 years ago, I played that superhero,” Cumming said.

Alan Cumming Might Have Spoiled ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Scene
Image
As Alan Cumming makes his long-overdue return to the X-Men, it appears he’s avoided the notoriously scary MCU media training.

The 3x Emmy winner might have recently let a detail slip about the upcoming Phase Six installment Avengers: Doomsday, which premieres May 1, 2026 in theaters, involving his reprised role Nightcrawler and Pedro Pascal‘s Mister Fantastic.

“I was learning stunts yesterday for some fight scene and I just think, I’m 60 years old. 23 years ago, I played that superhero,” he told Buzzfeed UK. “I was kind of old for a superhero even then. And now I’m back doing it. And that, to me, is hilarious.”

Cumming continued, “I’m sort of learning these fights and I’m like, ‘What? Who am I fighting with?’ And they said, ‘You’re hitting Pedro Pascal against the head,’ or something.”

Perhaps the Scottish actor was just speaking hypothetically. But with Nightcrawler’s...

Avengers: Doomsday Star Alan Cumming Reveals That Nightcrawler Will Fight [Spoiler] In The Movie
Image
The Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal saw Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), and Deadpool & Wolverine's Channing Tatum (Gambit) all board the movie.

Characters like Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), Storm (Halle Berry), and Rogue (Anna Paquin) are all notable by their absence, as is Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. We anticipate seeing a bigger X-Men team than the one above, perhaps with a few new Multiversal Variants added to the mix for good measure.

Cumming's Nightcrawler remains one of the most beloved characters from the X-Men franchise, despite only appearing in 2003's X2: X-Men United.

The teleporter's attack on the White House is considered iconic, so the actor reprising the role in Avengers: Doomsday is incredibly exciting (we're sure the Russo Brothers will at least attempt to top that classic sequence).

In a new interview, Cumming seemingly...

X-Men star drops Avengers: Doomsday bombshell
Image
By the time Chris Claremont took over as writer of Marvel's X-Men comic with issue No. 94, there had been an amalgam of various speculative storylines regarding Nightcrawler's (Kurt Wagner) origin, backstory, and mutant lineage. Claremont initially added an image-inducer as part of Kurt’s storyline to hide his indigo-colored skin and demonic-like features that manifested in yellow eyes, a prehensile forked tail, pointed ears, and two-toed feet and three-fingered hands.

The character made his debut on the big screen in 2002's X2: X-Men United, in which he was portrayed by Alan Cumming. Fans instantly fell in love with him and spent much of the subsequent movies wondering why he didn't return. That is, until now.

Daredevil Star Ben Affleck Reflects On His 2003 Role, The MCU’s Growth, & Why He Wouldn’t Mess With Bernthal’s Punisher
Image
Ben Affleck MCU Interview (Photo Credit – Wikipedia)

Ben Affleck’s connection to Daredevil is something that’ll never be forgotten by comic book fans. Back in 2003, he took on the role of Matt Murdock in Daredevil, a film that didn’t quite land with critics but still holds a special place in the hearts of many fans. His portrayal of the blind lawyer turned vigilante didn’t have the same cultural impact as the MCU’s later heroes, but it definitely helped lay the groundwork for superhero films in the early 2000s.

Since then, the character of Daredevil has seen a massive revival, most notably in Netflix’s 2015 Daredevil series, which redefined the character as darker, grittier, and more mature. Despite the gap between his turn as the Man Without Fear and the more recent versions, Affleck’s time in the red suit remains iconic, and it’s clear that...

'Captain America: Brave New World' Officially Beats One of the Best Batman Movies as It Leaves Theaters
Image
Having completed two months in theaters worldwide, Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World is nearing the end of its run. It'll soon debut on digital, where new audiences will hopefully be able to check it out. Not too many people, relatively speaking, showed up to watch the film in theaters. Brave New World remains one of the lowest-grossing installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — the biggest film franchise in global box office history. That being said, it passed a couple of landmark superhero movies on its way out.

With $413 million in the bank so far at the global box office, Brave New World has now overtaken the $412 million lifetime global haul of Tim Burton's Batman, which set records during its original run in 1989. The movie has also overtaken the $406 million lifetime global haul of X-2: X-Men United, often considered one of the greatest comic book movies ever made. Brave New World...

Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday will be packed with our favorite heroes and villains, and while many of them are returning characters that we’ve seen in recent movies, there’s one who will be coming back after more than two decades—Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler!

Fans first met him in 2003’s X2: X-Men United as the demonic-looking mutant with teleporting abilities. Even though he was not able to reprise the role in future sequels, he still became a memorable character.

'Isn't It Nuts?': Alan Cumming Is Thrilled About New Nightcrawler Makeup Process for Avengers: Doomsday
Image
Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler was only ever in one X-Men film, the 2003 outing X2: X-Men United. Yet his comparatively short amount of screentime didn't stop him becoming a fan favorite, and now he's back for more.

Cumming was one of the names announced for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, meaning it's time for the actor to get back under Nightcrawler's blue skin. But that's not always an easy task. Actors in superhero movies have long lamented having to spend hours in the makeup chair doing nothing while their skin is poked at and prodded. But Cumming has already had a go with new Nightcrawler makeup, and he's delighted.

“Isn’t it nuts? I’m excited and amazed,” Cumming said on a Today With Jenna and Friends interview, via Variety. “It’s been 23 years since I was a superhero. I’ve had some makeup tests already for the role, but what...

Cumming shared his thoughts during appearances on Today With Jenna and Friends and in conversation with Olivia Munn for Collider. “It’s been 23 years since I was a superhero,” he said. “I’ve had some makeup tests already for the role, but what’s great about it was that before it was about four and a half hours to apply it, but now it’s only 90 minutes.”

Alan Cumming Says ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Got His X-Men Transformation Down to 90 Minutes: ‘It Was Four and a Half Hours’ to Become Nightcrawler for ‘X2’
Image
What a difference two decades make. Alan Cumming recently said during an interview on “Today With Jenna and Friends” that he’s already begun makeup tests for “Avengers: Doomsday.” He is reprising his “X2: X-Men United” role of Nightcrawler in the upcoming Marvel tentpole, alongside fellow “X-Men” co-stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn and Kelsey Grammer. Cumming said advancements in movie makeup have dramatically cut back the amount of time he’ll spend transforming into the blue-skinned and tattooed Nightcrawler.

“Isn’t it nuts? I’m excited and amazed,” Cumming said. “It’s been 23 years since I was a superhero. I’ve had some makeup tests already for the role, but what’s great about it was that before it was about four and a half hours to apply it, but now it’s only 90 minutes.”

Nightcrawler Actor Alan Cumming On "Game Changing" Makeup Process For Avengers: Doomsday Return
Image
Of all the actors announced as being part of last week's massive Avengers: Doomsday's cast reveal live-stream, Alan Cumming might have been the most surprising.

Cumming made his one and only appearance in 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise as Kurt Wagner, aka Nightcrawler, in X2, but declined the studio's offer to reprise the role for the third film because he had no interest in sitting through the arduous makeup process again.

Wagner didn't show up in again until Kodi Smit-McPhee took over as a younger take on the character in X-Men: Apocalypse.

There's been some speculation that Cumming may only be lending his voice to a fully CG take on Nightcrawler, but the actor has now confirmed that this will not be the case, as he's already done a makeup test.

"Isn't it nuts? I'm excited and amazed," Cumming tells Collider when asked about his return for Doomsday.

"It's a Game Changer": Alan Cumming Gives the Update That X-Men Fans Want To Hear Ahead of 'Avengers: Doomsday'

One of the X-Men’s most beloved mutants is back — and this time, he's not spending half the day in a makeup chair. Alan Cumming, who famously played the teleporting, German-accented Nightcrawler in X2: X-Men United, is reprising his role in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsdayand he was thrilled to confirm that one of his most hated parts of shooting a Marvel movie has been mercifully shortened due to advancements in technology.

Speaking to hosts Jenna Bush Hager and fellow X-Men alum Olivia Munn, Cumming opened up on his excitement at reprising the role almost a quarter of a century later, while revealing that the makeup application — which he was a vocal critic of last time around — has become much more streamlined. This, said Cumming, was a key factor in his return.

Adamantium vs. Vibranium: Strengths and Weaknesses Explained
Image
The world of the Marvel Universe is highly intriguing, for it is filled with incredible characters, unbelievable locations, ruthless villains, and extraordinary tech. It also has fictional metals that have led to whole discourses and debates about them. Among these many metals, few are as legendary and hotly debated as adamantium and vibranium.

Both existing in the Marvel Universe, these metals have long captivated fans for decades due to their extraordinary properties and unique applications. While adamantium is famously associated with Wolverine’s indestructible claws and skeleton, vibranium is the core element of Captain America’s iconic red, blue, and white shield and the reason for Wakanda’s technological advancements. Even though both metals are unique and important in their own special ways, the question of which metal is superior has sparked intense discussions among Marvelholics for decades.

Halle Berry Tells ‘X-Men’ Fans to ‘Keep Waiting’ for Storm to Be Called for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Cast but Warns: ‘It’s Not Going to Be There’
Image
Halle Berry told Black Girl Nerds at CinemaCon that comic book movie fans should not expect to see her name called among the cast for Marvel’s “Avengers: Doomsday.” Several of Berry’s original “X-Men” co-stars were announced as part of the “Doomsday” cast earlier this month, much to the surprise of fans. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming and Kelsey Grammer are all coming back. So what about Berry?

“Fans want to see your name on the chair for the next next announcement of ‘Avengers: Doomsday,'” a reporter for Black Girl Nerds told Berry, alluding to the “Doomsday” livestream announcement where each cast member’s name was revealed on the back of a director’s chair. “We didn’t see Storm. We want to see your name”

“Keep waiting,” Berry answered. “It’s not going to be there. It’s not going to be there.

Halle Berry Says She's Not Returning as Storm in 'Avengers: Doomsday'
Image
Halle Berry cast doubt that she will reprise her role as Storm in Avengers: Doomsday, but is she being honest or trying to hide the reveal? The Avengers: Doomsday five-hour livestream was filled with surprises, including seven different X-Men members as a significant talking point. With all signs pointing to Avengers: Doomsday being a stealth Avengers vs. X-Men film, the exclusion of names like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, and Halle Berry as Storm was notable.

During Cinema Con, The Associated Press asked Halle Berry if she would reprise her role as Storm in Avengers: Doomsday. The interviewer told Berry they hope to see her name on a chair in the next announcement that Marvel Studios has teased. The Academy Award-winning actress responded with a laugh and said:

"Well, keep waiting because it's not going to be there. [Laughs] It's not going to be there."

Every X-Men Character Appearing in Avengers: Doomsday (Thus Far)
Image
On X (formerly Twitter), Marvel Studios revealed the impressive lead cast of Avengers: Doomsday, slated for release in 2026. The new movie will mark the first time the titular team has assembled since 2019's Avengers: Endgame. With several of Earth's mightiest heroes now either deceased or retired, the new movie will feature a new Avengers roster, presumably led by Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson as the McU's new Captain America. However, the Avengers aren't the only heroes set to appear in Doomsday, as they will be crossing paths with other teams of heroes from their universe and beyond.

In addition to those cast members expected to reprise their MCU roles to join the new Avengers lineup, the Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement included the names of several stars from other Marvel movies. All four leads of The Fantastic Four: First Steps were among the Doomsday cast, as were the majority of the...

Alan Cumming’s Video Reaction to Nightcrawler Return Will Make You Even More Hyped For ‘Doomsday’
Image
During a 5-hour stream, Marvel Studios revealed 27 names that will appear in the highly anticipated crossover movie, Avengers: Doomsday.

Some names, like Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, were expected, especially considering Fantastic Four history with Doctor Doom. Other names were more surprising, with nearly the entire Thunderbolts* cast, excluding Taskmaster, set to have a role in the film. Additionally, Lewis Pullman’s Sentry was confirmed to appear.

However, the biggest shock came when former X-Men stars like Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart were revealed to be reprising their iconic roles, alongside James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, and Alan Cumming.

Alan Cumming Shares Nightcrawler Comeback Joy for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ in Fun Video
Image
Alan Cumming has us all excited with his latest Instagram video. The Scottish actor, known for his vibrant personality, is stepping back into the blue skin of Nightcrawler for Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. Dressed in a festive Christmas hat and a cozy scarf, he’s hopping around what looks like his own home, showing off some playful energy that’s got everyone talking.

The big news dropped recently when Marvel confirmed Cumming would return as the teleporting mutant he first played over 20 years ago in ‘X2: X-Men United’. That 2003 film gave us a Nightcrawler who stole the show with his quick moves and gentle charm, even if he only got one shot at the role back then. Now, he’s joining a massive lineup for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, and I can’t wait to see him in action again.

X-Men 2 Star Alan Cumming Reacts to Nightcrawler's Return in Avengers: Doomsday
Image
Alan Cumming is ready to revisit his greatest hits following Avengers: Doomsday's massive casting news.

In the wake of Marvel confirming his return as Nightcrawler, Cumming shared a video to Instagram of him running and jumping in poses similar to his X2: X-Men United character's iconic intro scene, even dressing in a blue scarf matching Nightcrawler's skin color. Amongst those who responded positively to the post included X2 co-star Rebecca Romijn -- who played fellow blue-skinned Mutant and, in the comics, Nightcrawler's biological mother, Mystique -- who wrote, "Can't wait to see blue!"

In X2, Cumming's Nightcrawler was rescued by the X-Men after William Stryker brainwashed him into attacking the White House, ultimately helping them thwart Stryker's plan to kill all Mutants on Earth. Daredevil: Born Again Set Photos Confirm Something Fans Have Wanted For Years Is Finally Coming
Image
A transformation is coming to Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). In a new slate of set photos from Daredevil: Born Again, a little spoiler from the series' upcoming Season 2 episodes was revealed, but fans are happy to know it. The photos reveal that the superhero will don his famous black outfit for the first time in the series. At this point, we don't know in which episode this will happen, but Cox's face with the mask off confirms that it's indeed part of his storyline. Season 1 of the series is still rolling out new episodes on Disney+.

The Dd on Matt's chest is a big development because Marvel fans have noticed its absence in the red suit that the protagonist wore ever since the series first debuted on Netflix. The red suit from the show is considered fairly accurate, but the D's are a defining element from the comic books that fans missed.

The Biggest Surprises in the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Cast
Image
In a five-and-a-half-hour live stream on Wednesday, Marvel revealed its initial lineup for “Avengers: Doomsday,” set to hit theaters in 2026. And, beyond the length of the announcement itself, there were a few other surprises in the group.

The reveal came in the form of a camera slowly panning outward, roughly every 15 minute, in a massive hangar, revealing cast chairs with the names of the stars one at a time. In total, there were 26 names revealed — though insiders say there are more surprises to come — and for the most part, it was who fans expected.

Still, as Marvel is prone to do, there were a few big surprises in there (though none as big as the reveal at San Diego Comic-Con last year that Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to the franchise as Doctor Doom).

Here were some of the biggest surprises.

Avengers: Doomsday' Will Feature the Longest Serving Marvel Character Actor in History — One Way or Another
Image
There may soon be a new most tenured member of the Marvel universe. With the announcement today that Patrick Stewart would be returning to the MCU as Professor Charles Xavier alongside his fellow X-Men in next year's Avengers: Doomsday, the Star Trek icon is positioned to take the crown as the longest-serving character actor in Marvel's on-screen history. He'll have played Professor X for 26 years across eight films by the time the big crossover film comes out next May, with his debut coming in 2000 in the original X-Men. However, his usurping of the position isn't guaranteed, as it relies on Hugh Jackman, who kicked off his tenure as Wolverine alongside Stewart in the mutant film, not appearing in the latest Avengers.

Stewart and Jackman have traded the title of most tenured Marvel character actor a couple of times in recent years. Before Doomsday, the former most recently enjoyed a...

Marvel announced the Avengers: Doomsday cast one by one; includes Patrick Stewart, Kelsey Grammer, Channing Tatum and many more
Avengers: Doomsday (2026)
At 11 a.m. this morning, the Marvel Studios social media accounts started live-streaming a video they labeled as an all-caps Announcement. The video showed a soundstage where, one by one, chairs reserved for actors were revealed, with a new chair coming into view every 10 minutes or so. As it turns out, this was a very long and slow way of revealing the star-studded cast of Avengers: Doomsday, which is now heading into production and aiming for a May 1, 2026 theatrical release.

The first chair belonged to Chris Hemsworth, who has played Thor, the God of Thunder, in Thor, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Thor: Love and Thunder. The second chair was reserved for Vanessa Kirby, who plays Susan Storm (a.k.a. Invisible Woman) in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which will be reaching theatres on July 25th.

Anthony and Joe Russo, the Russo Brothers, have directed some of the biggest movies of all time, with their film Avengers: Endgame coming in second place just behind James Cameron’s Avatar – and on March 14th, the Netflix streaming service released their latest film, the robot adventure The Electric State. The film topped the English films chart on Netflix over its debut weekend – but managed to do so with a surprisingly low number of views. The Electric State reached #1 with 25.2 million views, which pales in comparison to the debut numbers of recent hits like Back in Action (46.8 million views) and Carry On (42 million views), but is slightly higher than last year’s release of Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver. Still, this is the third Millie Bobby Brown-led film to debut at #1 for Netflix, following last year’s Damsel (which got started with 35.3 million views) and 2022’s Enola Holmes 2,...
