    Compelling documentary

Fascinating documentary on the life of a family struggling to survive. Gritty, honest and superbly filmed. A great insight into New York of that time and a part of the city long overlooked. A rare view of how individuals need both family and strong will to overcome every day problems which would be too much for most. Despite the povrrty, lack of jobs and social care they show courage and never lose hope. Drugs and alcohol abuse is rife in the communty but theres no glamour to show, no excuses, just a real world look without any judgement or interference from a clever and insightfull Director. Would love to see an update on how they got on.
