The sheer volume of digital effects famously drove prices up on "Avatar," leaving its budget somewhere close to $237 million. As we all know, though, "Avatar" made all that money back and then some.

Why did TV fans have such a hard time believing that some of their favorite characters were just killed off? Because so many TV shows like “Game of Thrones,” “Supernatural” and “The X-Files” have brought back supposedly dead characters so often that the word “dead” has kind of lost all meaning in genre TV.

Chapter 104, "The Birth of Saiyaman X," was released this February as a special one-shot issue about Goten and Trunks becoming superheroes like Clean God. Denis Arndt, the familiar character actor who appeared on L.A. Law, Picket Fences and other shows for David E. Kelley and earned a Tony nomination for his turn opposite Mary-Louise Parker in the Broadway two-hander Heisenberg, has died. He was 86.

Arndt died Tuesday at his longtime cabin home in Ashland, Oregon, his family announced.
