AMC is building a franchise called the Anne Rice Immortal Universe out of late author Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles and Mayfair Witch books – and while we wait to see what’s going to happen with the spin-off series about the secretive society called the Talamasca, the network has renewed the Mayfair Witches series for a third season, while confirming that season 3 of the Interview with the Vampire series won’t start airing until 2026.
It’s kind of surprising to hear that Interview with the Vampire season 3 won’t be making it to the airwaves by the end of this year, because it was officially announced last June, plot synopsis and all. The show is moving on to the events of the second novel in Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series, The Vampire Lestat. In this story, Lestat becomes the frontman in a rock band, something that carries over into the events of the third book,...

AMC's modernized Anne Rice adaptation "Interview With the Vampire" has been sleeping fairly quietly in its coffin as of late. "Interview With the Vampire" season 2 wrapped up in June 2024, so fans of the fanged fantasy have no doubt been awaiting for signs of more undead life.
Now, it appears that there are finally rumblings of continuation. While answering viewer questions, Matt Webb Mitovich of TV Line revealed inside intel about the third season's impending arrival:
"I am told they're in the writers room for season 3 as we speak, and aiming for production to begin 'soon' (though no Sop date has been set yet)."
Though this information isn't yet confirmed by AMC, we've known for a while that season 3 is coming -- in fact, the show was renewed before the season 2 finale even aired. As such, there's a very decent chance that fans can expect official news about the new season reasonably soon.

Last year, we learned that, forty-nine years after playing a major role in the Steven Spielberg classic Jaws (and fourteen years after making an appearance in Alexandre Aja’s Piranha 3D), Richard Dreyfuss had been cast in another film that promises to be packed with aquatic thrills, Vigilante Diaries director Christian Sesma’s Into the Deep. The film received a digital, On Demand, and limited theatrical release last Friday, and will be getting a DVD and Blu-ray release in the UK on February 3rd. To promote these releases, a clip from the film has dropped online and can be seen in the embed above. Dreyfuss got attacked while in a cage in Jaws, and this clip shows Into the Deep‘s version of a cage attack.

After its success with The Walking Dead universe, AMC has found another genre series to sink its teeth into. The network has multiple seasons of Anne Rice’s famous works, Interview With the Vampire and The Mayfair Witches, and is now adding the world of the Talamasca to the list. The secret society is at the center of the Rowan Mayfair (Alexandra Daddario) story and was even featured in the long-maligned 2002 film Queen of the Damned. This new series will allow a deep dive into the notoriously secret motives of the Talamasca and now AMC has released a naturally ambiguous message intended to stoke curiosity.

Pop star Ronan Keating sang that life is a rollercoaster, and he wasn't lying -- but how does one get through the rough troughs to rise back up to the highest peaks? It's a complicated answer, but cinema holds the magical quality to turn any sad day around; all it takes is picking out one of the best feel-good movies and savoring the moment. In some instances, these motion pictures aren't considered the greatest films of all time -- except for "Paddington" because that little bear makes Daniel Day-Lewis look like Jamie Kennedy in comparison and deserves a lifetime supply of marmalade for his contributions to the arts -- but they know how to hit the right spot. Sort of like a warm toasted sandwich at any meal.
What's remarkable about these films is their rewatchability factor. No matter when or why, there's never a bad time to see them...

It’s no secret that the 1960s gave us some of the finest horror movies ever made. Psycho, Rosemary’s Baby, Night of the Living Dead, and The Birds are just a few that come to mind, yet in the midst of all those came a psychological horror-thriller in 1962 that has gone on to be regarded as a classic of the genre, despite its campy elements. Now, more than 60 years later, the Academy Award-nominated film is a streaming hit on Tubi that’s being rediscovered by a ton of new viewers.

Since Bram Stoker's foundational novel Dracula, vampires have captivated movie audiences around the world, from masterpieces like Nosferatu to cult classics like Dracula Untold. In the century since the novel's publication, these creatures of the night have become one of the most successful classic monsters of cinema. They're also one of the most versatile creatures of horror and fantasy, something that continues to be shown across a variety of movies.
Vampire movies often touch on themes of loneliness, addiction, seduction, and horror, allowing for a wide variety of genres to serve as the backdrop for some great stories. While far from perfect, the 2000s delivered audiences some excellent takes on vampires, ranging from stylish action movies to terrifying isolated horror. The decade saw some excellent portrayals of classic characters, as well as dynamic, takes on monsters -- and these movies prove it.

Akashas (Aaliyah) bloody reign finally receives some much-needed respect, as the 2002 follow-up to Interview with the Vampire (1994) is now a Top 10 hit on Tubi. Its been over 20 years since the much-maligned Queen of the Damned opened in theaters, but the Stuart Townsend and Aaliyah-led horror flick currently ranks among some of the most-watched films in the United States on the free streaming service. And Queen of the Damned holds an average ranking of No. 9 for the week. So, why did so many originally shun director Michael Rymers film?
First, Interview with the Vampire stars, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, were noticeably absent from Queen of the Damned. Cruises Lestat de Lioncourt was portrayed by Townsend, while Pitts Louis de Pointe du Lac didnt figure into the sequels plot at all. Part of what made the original movie so memorable was Cruise and Pitts unforgettable performances and their undeniable on-screen chemistry.

Interview with the Vampire is one of the most popular and beloved vampire movies, and though there was material for a sequel, Tom Cruise was right in not returning and thus stalling a sequel but, at the same time, he doomed the franchise. Vampires are some of the most popular creatures in horror, and they continue to be a source of inspiration for many artists. In literature, one of the most successful writers in the vampire genre is Anne Rice, who, in 1976, brought the novel Interview with the Vampire.
Interview with the Vampire got a film adaptation in 1994, starring Brad Pitt as Louis and Tom Cruise as Lestat. While depressed about the death of his family, Louis is targeted by the vampire Lestat and turned into a vampire and his companion. Struggling to adapt to his new condition, Louis feeds on a little girl named Claudia (Kirsten Dunst), who Lestat turns into Louis companion,...

Interview with the Vampire turns 30 years old today, and in a recent chat with Variety, director Neil Jordan spent some time reminiscing about his 1994 vampire classic, and revealed why his sequel never got made.
Based on the 1976 novel by the late Anne Rice, the film was released on Nov. 11, 1994, and would go on to gross more than $220 million at the box office. With numbers like that, The Vampire Lestat seemed like a sure thing at the time, but there was just one thing holding it back: Tom Cruise.
Jordan spent a considerable amount of time writing the script for the follow-up, which would have been a direct sequel, taking its cues from Rices second book in The Vampire Chronicles series that was published in 1985. However, even though Interview with the Vampire was a critical and commercial success, Jordan says Cruise wasnt interested in coming back as Lestat, which essentially caused...

Neil Jordan's Interview with the Vampire remains a cult classic 30 years after its release in theaters. However, the Anne Rice adaptation's success did not come without some controversy, particularly in the casting of Tom Cruise as Lestat.
Speaking with Variety about Interview's 30th anniversary, Jordan opened up about the controversy that emerged following Cruise's casting as the vampire Lestat. "I just saw that I liked him as an actor, its as simple as that," said the director regarding whether Cruise's star power gave him an edge over other actors for the role. "I mean, Lestat is described as tall, rangy, and blonde haired and all that sort of stuff. Tom was none of those things. Interview with the Vampire, the adaptation of Anne Rice's first novel in The Vampire Chronicles book series, starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt is celebrating its 30th anniversary. In a new interview, director Neil Jordan further shared several secrets from the set.
1994 featured two Anne Rice adaptations, Interview with the Vampire, and Garry Marshall's comedy thriller Exit to Eden. The latter was critically panned despite its famous cast, and the former has since become a cult classic despite many controversies. However, the road from the lengthy novel to the screen was long and tedious, and director Neil Jordan told Variety about some of the hardships, which also included cutting a violent scene from the original cut.

Vampires never die. Not even sunlight and garlic can quash the enduring appeal of one of the most famous supernatural creatures in our mythological lore, especially when it comes to pop culture. For as long as cinema has existed, vampire movies have swarmed the screen, each offering a different representation of the mythic bloodsucker.

Vampire films are one of the oldest genres of horror movies to grace the silver screen, and it's no surprise why. A good vampire flick can be addictive and fantastical, leaving the audience wanting more from the mystical underworld in the story. Over time, vampire films grew in versatility, from the seriousness of Francis Ford Coppola's Gothic hit, Bram Stoker's Dracula, to the angsty vampire romance of the Twilight series.
As pop culture's obsession with vampires grows with Hollywood, many underrated vampire films can fly under the radar. Though less popular than some of the bigger vampire classics and series, many of these hidden gems bring something fresh and unique to Hollywood's fascination with these monsters. For example, films like Queen of the Damned expand upon the mythology of Interview with the Vampire, and Nosferatu introduces audiences to the Dracula-alternative, German depiction of vampires.

Over the course of her 45-year career, novelist Anne Rice penned a multitude of books including a variety of series and standalone titles. She is probably best known for writing the Vampire Chronicles series, which has been adapted to the screen in various formats including the movies Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned. AMC's Interview with the Vampire show is the latest incarnation of the property, part of a line of adaptations that has drawn prominent stars over the years, including Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Christian Slater, Antonio Banderas, Aaliyah, and Ben Daniels.
Rice's other novels are also gaining more notoriety after the success of AMC's Interview with the Vampire. Upon the revival of Doctor Who in 2005, many longtime fans of the franchise were left scratching their heads as to why the series didnt follow the tradition of showing the regeneration from one Doctor to another. This includes Paul McGann, who portrayed the Eighth Doctor in the 1996 made-for-tv film Doctor Who: The Movie, and was unceremoniously left out of the mix when Christopher Ecclestons Ninth Doctor ushered in the modern era of the series.
In an interview with Doctor Who Magazine (via the official website), McGann revealed that when he first heard the rumblings that a new TV show was in the works that would once more bring the iconic franchise back to the small screen following its cancelation in 1989, he was ready and waiting for a phone call to at least make an appearance so that they could film the regeneration between him and Eccleston. AMC's Interview with the Vampire released to critical acclaim in October 2022. The series was so well-received that it was quickly renewed for a second season. As many know, it's an adaptation of the 1976 Anne Rice book of the same name. In 1994, the book was made into the classic film starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, but what many don't realize is that Interview With the Vampire had a sequel.
Released in 2002, Queen of the Damned is perhaps best known for being the last film starring singer and actress Aaliyah before her tragic death.

With the recent announcement that AMC's latest Immortal Universe series has found its leading man in Nicholas Denton, fans are asking: Who or what exactly is the Talamasca? The answer is hiding in plain sight, as agents of this secret society have hovered on the edges of Interview With the Vampire, and one of them is a star of Mayfair Witches. Rumors of a crossover between the two existing Anne Rice-based series have been swirling for some time, and they are closer to becoming a reality with the addition of the recently greenlit Immortal Universe show, The Talamasca.
The fresh production found its first star in Nicholas Denton, who will play new recruit Guy Anatole. Talamasca agents have already appeared in both Interview With the Vampire and Mayfair Witches, with Jason Kirk playing sinister second-stringer Raglan James in the former show, and leading man Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve,...

AMC's Immortal Universe is expanding with new shows, with two already airing Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches and another Anne Rice spinoff in development: The Talamasca. Interview with the Vampire is the second time adapting one of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles book series after the classic 1994 movie adaptation starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. The TV series sees Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt and Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac in the roles Cruise and Pitt originated. In it, Louis tells investigative journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) the story of his life, both before and after becoming a vampire.
The 2002 Interview sequel Queen of the Damned replaced Tom Cruise with Stuart Townsend and removed the character of Louis entirely. It got overwhelmingly negative reviews and flopped at the box office.
Mayfair Witches, meanwhile, follows neurosurgeon Dr. Rowan Fielding who, after a series of troubling events at work,...

Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles have legions of fans who know the whole tale by heart. The epic romance between the tormented Louis de Pointe du Lac and his maker, Lestat de Lioncourt, unfurled in thirteen novels and two feature films so how could a new TV series freshen up such a familiar story? By introducing more twists and turns than the whole human circulatory system, AMC's Interview With the Vampire has hooked audiences with its unpredictable version of events. New fans hoping to catch up in time for Season 3 will need a big explanation of Season 2's conclusion.
In Rice's initial 1976 novel, the tormented Louis confesses the sordid details of his vampiric existence to a captivated journalist. In showrunner Rolin Jones's TV series, Louis (Jacob Anderson) gives a second interview to writer Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian); they first spoke fifty years prior, but neither man remembers exactly what happened.

Inside of me, there are two wolves. Well, in this case, there are two crows. One grew up being fed on a steady diet of Gothic horror action films like Underworld, Hellboy, Blade, and Queen of the Damned. That little crow loves black eyeliner and plastic jelly bracelets, suffered fishnet stockings for the aesthetic, and only wore black for a decade. That little emo corvid would have been obsessed with The Crow. But, then there is the other crow. This crow has seen a few more birthdays, watched a lot more movies, and experienced a whole lot more of life. That bird is far less impressed by this new reboot of a cult classic.

After years and years of waiting, the new Dragon Age game is finally at a stage where we’ve got a release date to mark on our calendars. The Veilguard will be arriving on 31 October 2024, as announced in the release date trailer that dropped earlier this week.
That’s not the only bombshell that dropped in the trailer, though. Everyone’s favorite witch made a shocking return, which surprised everyone seeing as how the voice actress herself confirmed she wouldn’t be in the game. That’s right, Morrigan is back!
The Witch of the Wilds Will Return in the New Dragon Age
Voiced by the talented Claudia Black, Morrigan’s surprise appearance in the trailer left fans shocked and ecstatic.
People normally wouldn’t be shocked seeing how she also appeared in Inquisition, but Black mentioned in 2022 that she believed her character wouldn’t be part of the new game.

Season 3 of Interview with the Vampire is adapting The Vampire Lestat, potentially avoiding Queen of the Damned's pitfalls. Sam Reid's well-received portrayal of Lestat will continue in season 3, promising to maintain exceptional writing and story focus. Season 3 is likely to avoid the mistake of overextending the plot, with a teaser hinting at an exciting music documentary twist.
Interview with the Vampire has been confirmed for a third season on AMC after two highly successful seasons spent adapting the original novel of the same name. As revealed in the trailer dropped at San Diego Comic-Con, Interview with the Vampire season 3 adapts The Vampire Lestat, the second book in Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles. The original novel centers around Lestat awakening in the modern world and becoming a rock star, while revealing the titular vampire's past from his own perspective.
This isn't the first time The Vampire Lestat has been adapted.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the Interview With the Vampire Season 2 finale.] Interview With the Vampire revealed Sam Reid in his rockstar Lestat form at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 on July 27, thrilling fans with a musical teaser that gave a glimpse at Season 3’s interview format and original music. AMC dropped the Vampire Lestat’s debut single, “Long Face,” in full the next day, showing off what composer Daniel Hart had tucked up Lestat’s bratty chartreuse sleeves. That teaser and song will be the fandom’s nourishment as we wait for the third season. But more important than the music will be Lestat sharing his story in his words for the first time in the series — and in some respects, the first time onscreen anywhere. Just last month, AMC announced that they had ordered a third season of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire – and that with season 3, the show would be moving on to the events of the second novel in Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series, The Vampire Lestat! In this story, Lestat becomes the frontman in a rock band, something that carries over into the events of the third book, The Queen of the Damned. That’s why those books were mashed together for the 2002 film Queen of the Damned, where Lestat’s singing voice was provided by Jonathan Davis of Korn. If you’ve been curious to hear what Lestat’s singing voice will sound like on the Interview with the Vampire TV series, AMC has you covered: they’ve just released Lestat’s first single, “Long Face,” and you can check it out in the embed above.

Interview with the Vampire season 3 will explore Armand and Daniel's relationship, adding depth and staying true to the source material. We don’t get a ton of Gothic or romanticized horror anymore, at least not in the sense of the old days. The old days had a bit of a stretch too as I’m talking about the Universal classics and Val Lewton all the way through at least the early run of Hammer Films. To that end, what creature is more romantic or at least romanticized than Dracula and any of his vampire off shoots? While many of the vampiric screen adaptations have that feel to them from Frank Langella to Gary Oldman and David Bowie sandwiched in between, there are few vampires who embody that ideology more than those found in the writings of Anne Rice. While her novel Interview with the Vampire came out all the way back in 1976, it would take nearly 20 years for the adaptation to hit theaters with the movie of the same name...

Michael Rymer's Queen of the Damned is all about finding a second life as a vampire, that is. At first, audiences and critics alike were uninterested in the 2002 follow-up to Interview with the Vampire. But the movie itself found its own second life due to a shocking real-life event that occurred after its release. The movie, based on Anne Rice's book, follows the vampire Lestat (Stuart Townsend) in modern times after the events of Interview with the Vampire. He awakens and becomes entangled with the titular vampire queen, Akasha, played by the late R&b singer Aaliyah. The character Akasha was already a huge talking point in the movie, as it was Aaliyah's last performance before her untimely death. But less than a year after the movie's release, Queen of the Damned gained even more infamy when it became the center of a gruesome murder.

In the pages of her 1976 debut novel Interview with the Vampire, author Anne Rice introduced readers to a blonde-haired vampire named Lestat de Lioncourt, who was given the nickname The Brat Prince. He’s a character Rice loved writing about and her fans loved reading about, and he appeared in several more stories that make up the series known as The Vampire Chronicles. These days, Sam Reid is playing Lestat on AMC’s Interview with the Vampire TV show – but the first actor to bring the character to life on the screen was Tom Cruise, who was cast to play Lestat in director Neil Jordan’s 1994 film adaptation of Interview with the Vampire – a bit of casting that was quite controversial at the time, with even Rice herself speaking out against it.
