The Director's Cut is longer, featuring extended versions and alternate takes of some scenes. In the opening scene with the Porsche, Kip's taunting of the other driver and his girlfriend is more aggressive and profane. When Memphis visits Kip, in the Director's Cut, Kip is shown to be in much worse shape, perpetually drunk and a complete freeloader, while in the theatrical version, he is at least put-together enough to attempt to cook for Memphis. Finally, among other small changes, the ending car chase scene is considerably longer and features many more shots and angles of existing scenes, as well as showing things that happened off-screen in the theatrical cut (such as Eleanor driving into and out of the L.A. River).
