Michael B. Jordan Shouts Out ‘Sinners’ During Amazon Upfront Appearance
Image
Michael B. Jordan, appearing at the Amazon upfront Monday to tout his work on what he called the “Creed-verse,” began with a shout-out to Sinners.

Drawing one of the biggest ovations of any star walking the Beacon Theatre stage, Jordan said, “I want to say thank you to everyone who’s been supporting Sinners in theaters right now.”

The nod was unusual in that Warner Bros. released the Ryan Coogler-directed hit. In fact, it was former Warner Bros President of Production Courtenay Valenti, now Head of Film, Streaming and Theatrical at Amazon MGM Studios, who introduced Jordan.

“Michael is involved in a number of upcoming projects including directing, producing and starring in our theatrical film The Thomas Crown Affair,” she said. “He’s also at the heart of one of the crown jewels in the Amazon MGM library – Creed. Most importantly, it’s a franchise that has captured...

A James Bond Rip-Off Got Anthony Hopkins A Meeting With 007's Producers
Image
With Amazon now in full control of the James Bond franchise, the already lively discourse around who will be the next 007 has gone into overdrive. Former Bond custodians Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson exercised a high level of control over the franchise, and official updates on who will be taking over as Bond have been non-existent ever since Daniel Craig bowed out with 2021's "No Time to Die." As such, fans are beyond eager to hear some sort of news on this front, especially now the franchise is in new hands. Those same fans have continued to bandy about all kinds of names.

We know that "Kraven the Hunter" star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has the backing of former Bond Pierce Brosnan, while some fans are still holding out hope that longtime favorite Henry Cavill might still have a shot. There are so many actors that could replace Craig as Bond,...

Ryan Coogler’s period horror movie Sinners starring Michael B. Jordan in the lead role arrived in theatres on 18th April 2025 and has received a terrific response from critics and audiences alike. Sinners has a Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score of 98%, which is unusually high for a horror film. Jordan made his acting debut?

Michael B. Jordan Made His Acting Debut In This Film

Jorma Tommila in Sisu (2022)
Sisu 2, The Thomas Crown Affair, Ella McKay all set release dates
Jorma Tommila in Sisu (2022)
Sisu 2 and Ella McKay are both with us in 2025, with a new The Thomas Crown Affair due in 2027. More here.

No matter what your preferred genre might be, there’s likely to be something in this new crop of newly announced release dates to interest you.

Firstly, Screen Gems is releasing the sequel to Finnish filmmaker Jalmari Helander’s violent World War II action thriller, Sisu. The first film saw an ex-commando getting rather irked when Nazis stole his gold and some thrillingly-shot revenge ensued.

Jorma Tommila returns in the lead role and the sequel is getting a 21st November theatrical release date in the US and hopefully here in the UK as well. If you haven’t caught the first film yet, click here to get a taste of the movie via its (rather violent) trailer.

If grisly thrills aren’t quite your cup of tea, then what about...

6 Best Spy Movies James Bond Fans Need To Watch
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Among James Bond fans, there is a well-established genre known as the non-Bond Bond movie. You might think that 26 official 007 films would be enough to satiate fans of England's greatest spy, but cinema's most enduring franchise has now been running for 65 full years, and evidently a film releasing on an average of every 2.5 years just simply isn't enough for 007 adherents.

Now that Amazon owns the James Bond IP that will surely change, with Bond spin-off ideas likely coagulating in the minds of Amazon execs as I type. While we await the onslaught of 007 media, however, there are several well-established non-Bond Bond movies that can act as solid substitutes for official 007 features. These movies include films that starred former 007 actors in roles that are, in all but name, essentially James Bond and there's even an entry...

An Incredible Fan Theory Connects James Bond To A Hit '90s Action Movie
Image
As of this writing, there are 26 James Bond films, and now that Amazon fully controls the 007 franchise, we're probably going to get a heck of a lot more. In fact, the Amazon deal will likely result in a cavalcade of Bond spin-offs, which, depending on how you feel about the company's ability to do Bond justice, is either a good thing or the beginning of the end for the now 63-year-old franchise.

Still, there's no escaping the fact that if we do get an expanded Bond universe, fans likely won't be too pleased. Former Bond producers and longtime custodians of the IP, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, were famously protective of the 007 saga being a movie franchise. As such, fans will almost certainly be dismayed should Amazon start churning out Moneypenny origin stories and the solo adventures of Felix Leiter. But the truth is, those fans have...

Inside the Vogue World: Hollywood Reveal With Anna Wintour, Gavin Newsom and L.A.’s Fashion Elite
Image
Anna Wintour doesn’t come to Los Angeles often, so when she touches down, it usually means there’s important fashion business on the horizon.

That proved to be the case Wednesday when the global editorial director of Vogue and chief content officer at Condé Nast assumed position at a podium situated on the Chateau Marmont terrace just before 11 a.m. in front of the city’s fashion elite. But a few faces in the crowd — specifically Governor Gavin Newsom, mogul Casey Wasserman and costume designers Arianne Phillips, Colleen Atwood and Ruth E. Carter — signaled that the official business would stretch beyond fashion.

“We are thrilled to be here in Los Angeles, a city we love, that we admire, which gives us so much and has been constantly in our thoughts since the winter. This is a moment when coming to Los Angeles, joining in the effort to rebuild and...

Steve McQueen movies: 15 greatest films ranked worst to best
Image
Steve McQueen was the Oscar-nominated performer who helped define the meaning of "cool" in just a handful of movies before his untimely death in 1980 at the age of 50. But how many of those titles remain classics? Let's take a look back at 15 of his greatest films, ranked worst to best.

Born in 1930, McQueen first came to the attentions of movie audiences with his leading role in the sci-fi B-movie classic "The Blob" (1958). He quickly made a name for himself as an action star thanks to a series of hits through the 1960s and early 1970s, including "The Magnificent Seven" (1960), "The Great Escape" (1963), "Bullitt" (1968), "The Thomas Crown Affair" (1968), "The Getaway" (1972), and "The Towering Inferno" (1974). Known as "The Kind of Cool," his onscreen persona as a reluctant antihero made him a favorite of both men who wanted to be him and women who wanted to be with him.

His sole Oscar nomination...

This 46-Year-Old Al Pacino Movie Is The Most Underrated Courtroom Drama of All Time
Image
The 1970s is arguably the greatest decade in cinema history, at least in terms of American cinema. Aside from the New Hollywood movement giving rise to many of the most legendary filmmakers audiences know today, there was also an abundance of great movies coming out in various genres. In most cases, there are up-and-coming actors and directors working together to make a great film. Sometimes, Classical Hollywood era directors would make a film here and there that audiences really enjoy but then go on to forget. It's not as though these films aren't great; it's just that there were so many iconic films coming out during the decade, that a few gems would get left behind in peoples' memories. More often than not, these films would team up a rising star with a respected director and the result would be pure gold. However, because the big new names weren't attached,...

Michael Fassbender & Pierce Brosnan's New Spy Movie Enters A Highest-Grossing Box Office Chart Despite Slow Opening Weekend
Image
A new spy movie starring Michael Fassbender and Pierce Brosnan has pulled off a box office feat. Fassbender is a versatile actor who is perhaps best known for playing the young Magneto in the X-Men prequel movies beginning with 2011's First Class. However, in addition to starring in big-budget genre movies such as the superhero franchise, Assassin's Creed, and Prometheus, he has starred in a variety of dramas such as Shame, A Dangerous Method, Song to Song, Steve Jobs and 12 Years a Slave, the latter two of which earned him Oscar nominations.

While Pierce Brosnan does not have any Oscar nominations under his belt, he does have ample experience in the spy genre, having starred in four James Bond movies between 1995 and 2002. He played the iconic superspy in GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day, stepping into the role after the two-movie tenure...

Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell in Talks to Star in ‘Single White Female’ Redo
Image
Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell are in talks to star in a new take on the 1992 film “Single White Female,” TheWrap has learned. The thriller is set up at Elizabeth Gabler’s 3000 Pictures and Sony.

“Single White Female” stars Bridget Fonda as a woman who rents an apartment after a breakup, only to reunite with her ex-boyfriend. But upon reconciliation, her tenant — played by Jennifer Jason Leigh — starts to exhibit odd behavior.

It’s unclear which actress would be playing which role in the new film.

Directed by Barbet Schroeder, the film was based on the John Lutz book “Swf Seeks Same.” The movie became something of a cultural touchstone as the phrase “Single White Female” entered the lexicon as short-hand for a woman gone off the rails.

Ortega is coming off a key role in last year’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” and reprises the title role in Netflix’s “Wednesday” Season 2 later this year.

Jenna Ortega, Taylor Russell to star in Single White Female reboot
Image
Last week, Taylor Russell (Bones and All) signed on to co-star in the Amazon MGM reboot of The Thomas Crown Affair, a project that Michael B. Jordan has been attached to for nine years. Now, industry scooper Jeff Sneider of The InSneider has heard that Russell is in talks to star in another reboot that has been in the works for years, an update of the 1992 thriller Single White Female. Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) is also reportedly in talks to star in the film, which is set up at Sony and 3000 Pictures. (Update: Variety has now confirmed Sneider’s report.)

As Sneider notes, “Obviously, the title would likely change, as Ortega and Russell are women of color, and neither identifies as white.” Maybe they’ll just drop the middle out and call it Single Female.

Directed by Barbet Schroeder from a screenplay by Don Roos, the ’92 film was based on...

Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell in Talks for ‘Single White Female’ Remake
Image
Be careful who you add to your lease.

That’s the takeaway from 1992’s psychosexual thriller “Single White Female,” a classic of squirmy suspense that featured Bridget Fonda as a freshly single Manhattan-ite who has the misfortune of picking a clingy and awkward woman (Jennifer Jason Leigh) to be her roommate while she recovers from her breakup. But because Hollywood loves nothing more than putting a fresh coat of paint of the cult classics, Sony and Elizabeth Gabler’s 3000 Pictures are reviving the intra-apartment friction with Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell in negotiations to star in a remake. No word on who will direct the film — the original was directed by Barbet Schroeder of “Reversal of Fortune” fame.

Ortega is best known for starring in Netflix’s “Wednesday.” She strengthened her box office clout by appearing in 2024’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” Next up is “Death of a Unicorn,” a...

Taylor Russell, Jenna Ortega in Talks for ‘Single White Female’ Remake
Image
Wednesday star Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell (Bones and All) are in negotiations to star in a remake of Single White Female, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Elizabeth Gabler’s 3000 Pictures, which has a deal with Sony, is looking to remake 1992 horror drama that starred Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The feature was directed by Barbet Schroeder and was based on John Lutz’s 1990 novel Swf Seeks Same. Lutz co-wrote the adaptation with Don Roos.

Both Russell and Ortega will star in the remake and produce. Sony offered no comment on the project. The Insneider first reported the news.

In the original, Fonda played Allison, a woman who takes in Hedra (Leigh) as a roommate, only to bring into her Upper West Side flat a terrifying stalker worthy of a suspense thriller. Sony’s Columbia Pictures distributed Single White Female, which was made for $16 million and grossed $48 million domestically.

Of course, they could just be getting to know each other as they prepare to work together on the new movie.

Michael was previously linked to model Lori Harvey until their June 2022 breakup. Taylor previously...

Michael B. Jordan's Sinners Gets Official Rating, Sets New Mark for Director Ryan Coogler
Image
Director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan are ready to enter the supernatural realm with their latest feature-length collaboration, Sinners. The upcoming Warner Bros. blockbuster gets its official rating, one not associated with a Coogler movie since his first joint venture with his Black Panther franchise teammate.

According to FilmRatings.com,Sinners landed an R-rating heading into its spring release for strong bloody violence and sexual content. This marks new ground for Coogler as Sinners is his first R-rated film since 2013's Fruitvale Station, his critically acclaimed first project alongside Jordan.

Warner Bros. is banking on Coogler and Jordan's partnership to bear fruit again, considering the success of their previous work. Before teaming up with Warner Bros. on Sinners, Coogler and Jordan worked on the beloved Rocky spinoff, Creed, and both entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Black Panther film series. Warner Bros. acquired Sinners in February of last year following a bidding war,...

3 Years Before Bullitt, Steve McQueen Played His Coolest Character In This Underrated Classic
Image
He wasn't called the "King of Cool" for no reason. '60s movie icon Steve McQueen starred in some of the most famous movies of all time during his Hollywood run, and more often than not, McQueen's presence on screen was mesmerizing. Easily confused with the other top star at the time, Paul Newman, Steve McQueen had a smooth demeanor and piercing blue eyes that captivated audiences no matter what role he was playing. Although he played many different kinds of characters as his career went on, McQueen was initially known for playing more of a laid-back drifter type as opposed to a clean-cut suit or badge. Things changed when he played Thomas Crown in The Thomas Crown Affair in 1968.

From that point on, McQueen's roles were becoming more diversified than his usual archetypal roles. This led to arguably his most iconic film in 1968, Bullitt, in which McQueen plays...

Taylor Russell Joins Michael B. Jordan in 'The Thomas Crown Affair' Remake
Image
Hollywood star Michael B. Jordan is currently planning a modern remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, which is based on the 1968 and 1999 heist films of the same name. After a thorough casting process, Jordan seems to have found his female counterpart for the film. Taylor Russell, who was previously featured in Waves, both Escape Room movies, and Bones and All, has joined the project.

Deadline reports that Russell was the actor selected by Jordan to play opposite him in the heist film. It wasn't an easy casting process, as several other talented performers auditioned. Nevertheless, after a screen test with Jordan himself, she was selected as the next woman in charge of investigating the rich dude who likes to steal (the character was played by Faye Dunaway in 1968 and Rene Russo in 1999).

Jordan is heavily involved in the film as a producer via his Outlier Society banner alongside Elizabeth Raposo.

Taylor Russell To Co-Star Opposite Michael B. Jordan In Amazon MGM Studios’ ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ Reimagining
Image
Exclusive: Following a lengthy audition process, Michael B. Jordan looks to have zeroed in on the leading lady for his new The Thomas Crown Affair movie. Sources tell Deadline that Taylor Russell has landed the coveted role in the reimagining opposite Jordan, who is set to star and direct.

Jordan will also produce via his production banner Outlier Society alongside Elizabeth Raposo. The film will be released exclusively in theaters.

When Jordan set this as his next film last fall, the obvious next question was who would Jordan would steam up the screen with. The previous two Thomas Crown Affair films turned Faye Dunaway and Rene Russo into instant A-listers, so the role quickly became one of the more sought-after in town. On top of that, with Mission: Impossible films winding down and James Bond way off, Jordan has seen this as a potential replacement given the character’s similarities to 007. With that in mind,...

I think so."It's a rather romantic notion and idea, but I think everything changes, everything falls apart."The 'Black Adam' star added: "I think that it's best left to another man, really. Pierce Brosnan Excited To Watch Michael B. Jordan Lead 'The Thomas Crown Affair' Remake
Image
As his former character, James Bond, is still in the process of being redesigned and recast for modern audiences, Pierce Brosnan continues to delight audiences with new and exciting roles. His latest is the TV series MobLand, and although Bond is still his most important character, Brosnan also looks back on others that helped shoot him to stardom during his prime in the 1990s. One of these was playing Thomas Crown in The Thomas Crown Affair, the 1999 romantic heist movie that Amazon Studios is now in the process of remaking with Michael B. Jordanas the lead.

Brosnan has now addressed the remake while speaking to GQ about MobLand, in which he co-stars with Tom Hardy and Helen Mirren. During the interview, Brosnan was asked about the remake of The Thomas Crown Affair and whether he approves of Jordan's casting as the roguish billionaire who likes to steal valuable artwork. The...

Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, & Helen Mirren wield the power of a deadly family in the trailer for Guy Ritchie’s MobLand series
Image
For some, family is everything. If you cross them in any way, there will be hell to pay. It is the nature of things, especially when your family wields power like a sword waiting to slice dissenters in twain. Today, Paramount+ is ready to give Guy Ritchie fans a taste of the filmmaker’s next star-studded series, Mobland, starring Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosman, and Helen Mirren. Paramount’s MobLand trailer is an explosive look at what happens when the wrong people think they can change the pecking order of a well-oiled criminal empire. Good luck with that, friend.

MobLand debuts on Paramount+ on March 30. It centers around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch across the globe and the fiercely loyal “fixer” charged with protecting one of them at all costs.

In MobLand, Pierce Brosnan stars as Conrad Harrigan, patriarch of the crime family, with Helen Mirren playing Maeve Harrigan,...

Why Rene Russo Disappeared From Hollywood
Image
When a Hollywood actor is big and making lots of movies, it kind of feels like they'll stick around forever. There are plenty who do, but so often a familiar face will enjoy a hot streak before vanishing from the limelight. Back in the '90s we had a number of such actors. Alicia Silverstone, Meg Ryan, and Bridget Fonda all hit their peak during the decade and became household names thanks to their hits. And then they were gone, either suffering from a string of poor choices (Silverstone), taking a break from acting (Ryan), or retiring altogether (Fonda). Another Hollywood star who enjoyed her heyday in the '90s before vacating our multiplexes was Rene Russo. But why exactly did she disappear from Hollywood?

Russo was one of several models who crossed over into acting during the '90s. Some made a big splash in their breakthrough roles, like...

Pierce Brosnan Had To Follow A Strange Rule Because Of His James Bond Movies
Image
Pierce Brosnan is a preposterously handsome man, and like most preposterously handsome men, he looks positively spectacular in just about any piece of clothing you can throw on him. A tuxedo is like a second layer of skin for Brosnan. He can rock a suede blazer with more verve than any other man on the planet. He could probably set hearts a-flutter in a clown suit.

Brosnan has been a men's fashion plate since "Remington Steele" turned him into a global superstar 43 years ago. He was the first choice to succeed Roger Moore as James Bond after "A View to a Kill," and only lost out on the role because NBC exercised its option on a fifth season of "Remington Steele" that no one wanted. Obviously, he eventually landed the role he was seemingly born to play, but while Brosnan was only ever perfect as Bond, the films around him tended to let him down.

Michael B. Jordan Praises Jonathan Majors After Conviction: “I’m Proud of His Resilience”
Image
Michael B. Jordan is speaking out about his friend Jonathan Majors after his December 2023 conviction.

In a GQ profile, Jordan was asking about his Creed III co-star, who was dumped from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2023, and other pending projects, after he was found guilty of two domestic-violence charges.

While Jordan has avoided commenting on Majors’ arrest and conviction in the past, the actor says it was a “tough situation” to watch.

“But he’s doing great, just got engaged,” he added, referencing Majors’ fiancée, actress Meagan Good. “I’m proud of his resilience and his strength through it all, and [his] handling [of] it. I’m glad he’s good. That’s my boy.”

When asked if he would work with Majors again, Jordan replied, “Yes.”

Sphere (1998) – Wtf Happened to This Adaptation?
Image
You guys really seem to be digging on Michael Crichton huh? Well let’s look at what almost stopped his adaptations from happening. After a heck of a run from his adaptations both good and mediocre, Sphere would be a big enough bomb that it would follow with two straight sub-par adaptations before a quiet death of his worked being put on the big screen. The movie should have been a no doubt success with stars like Dustin Hoffman, Sam Jackson, Sharon Stone and a more than capable, Oscar winning, director in Barry Levinson. What we would end up with is one of the biggest bombs of the late 90s and a movie that is derided or outright forgotten from the annals of 90s cinema. Was it the cast, the story, or the general public being over Chricton things that didn’t have dinosaurs in it that was the culprit.

This Western Icon’s First Starring Role Came in This Classic, Beloved, Free-to-Watch Creature Feature
Image
Few actors epitomized "cool" like Steve McQueen. He was dressed to the nines in The Thomas Crown Affair, had the most badass car chase in Bullitt, and played a brave fighter in The Towering Inferno, just to name a few examples from a legendary acting career. As iconic as he became, and as he still is today, over four decades after his death, all actors have to start somewhere. For Steve McQueen, his first role came in his late 20s with the 1958 monster movie The Blob. McQueen was ashamed of the film later in his life, but he shouldn't have been. The Blob isn't perfect, but it's certainly one of the better monster movies from the 1950s.

Wtf Happened to Equilibrium?
Image
Putting a dystopian future on the big screen was nothing new in the early 2000s, especially when set in the realm of science-fiction. But making it work also within the action genre is a monumental ask. Really, how often did an all-out action flick want to make its viewers think…especially when the plot revolves around thinking be illegal.

But Kurt Wimmer gave it a go with Equilibrium, which wondered what the world might look like under a totalitarian rule…if there was a lot of gunplay involved. Brushed aside by the studio, critics and moviegoers, Equilibrium has gone on to become a minor cult favorite (including here on JoBlo), something Wimmer could have never seen coming…Just don’t go comparing it to The Matrix in front of him…

So, take off your thinking cap and load up your pistols as we find out: Wtf Happened to This Movie?...
