- A D.A. tasks a private detective to safely transport a mob trial witness from L.A. to N.Y. but hired killers are after them.
- Fearful that their star witness might be murdered, two attorneys hire a protector to bring him from Los Angeles to New York. Jesse Crowder (Fred Williamson) is a no-nonsense tough guy. He buddies up with the witness, an accountant, and they hit the road. Outwitting their foes means taking all manner of conveyance, including automobile, train, and airplane. At every turn, Crowder and the witness face a variety of attacks, including gunfire and knife-wielding villains. At ease with the ladies, Crowder manages the entire journey with shirt unbuttoned and stogie clenched firmly in his teeth.—Ken Miller <wkmiller704@yahoo.com>
- New York district attorney Virgil Riley and his assistant Jonas discover two of their prime witnesses scheduled to testify in the trial of gang leader Jack Rosewald were killed: one by a car bomb, the other shot to death. They suspect that Rosewald arranged the assassinations and are able to convince the presiding judge to give them a 48-hour postponement to give them time to bring in Rosewald's former accountant Mr. Finley from Los Angeles. When the attorneys go back to their office, they are met by the two detectives hired to watch over the witnesses. Before sending them on their way, Riley angrily informs the detectives will be written up for negligence, bribery, as well as facing possible prison time. Riley then calls Finley about the situation and reluctantly agrees to testify, and that ex-cop-turned-private eye Jesse Crowder will escort Finley to New York. Crowder accepts the job, but his former superiors, however, are concerned about the assignment, given Crowder's ruthless reputation, but vows to prove them wrong. That night, he is summoned to have dinner at the house of Rosewald's girlfriend, as well as having sex with Crowder and giving him an expensive gold watch to try and forget about having Finley testify, to no avail.
The next morning, Crowder arrives at Finley's apartment to take him to the airport, but on the way, they discover a car of goons following them and are forced to change directions. They stop at a gas station to fill up, but are ambushed by the goons in the same car, killing the attendant and a female customer. Crowder and Finley are chased into the desert, but Crowder manages to wreck the goons' car by slamming into it, exploding in the process. With no transportation, Crowder and Finley are forced to hitchhike down the road, but are chased again by another car of goons. Overwhelmed, Finley deserts Crowder and hails down a ride to take him back home. However, they reunite at an incline lift, where the same goons try to beat Crowder up, but escapes the melee. Knowing they need to find a place to hide, they go to a house belonging to an ex-girlfriend of Crowder's, where they are met again by more of Rosewald's goons. At the airport, boarding a flight to Kansas City, Crowder goes to the restroom and discovers two more goons: he stabs one inside a stall and shoots another one walking in. Before boarding the flight, a fashion model offers Crowder and Finley a train ride to Kansas City, but Crowder discovers the model is actually a hired killer, who tries to stab a sleeping Finley and thrown out of the moving train by Crowder. When they arrive at the train station, another hired man kidnaps Finley and takes him to his car, but Crowder knocks the man out, before they can leave, and board a flight to New York. That night, in their hotel room, another hit-man, posing as a room service waiter, tries to shoot Finley, but is knocked into a bathtub by Crowder, who electrocutes him by throwing in a plugged-in hairdryer. The next morning, Riley and Jonas arrive to pick up Finley and congratulate Crowder for the job. After arriving back in Los Angeles, Crowder goes back to the girlfriend's house to return the watch, who is fleeing to Acapulco, after learning that Rosewald was found guilty. As he leaves, the watch, containing a tiny bomb inside, explodes inside, killing the girlfriend.
