Marvel Studios has a lot on its plate, with the upcoming Fantastic Four leading up to the upcoming Avengers movie, which is expected to introduce the X-Men to the MCU. Amid these major developments, new reports suggest that the studio may also be planning to introduce another mutant ensemble into the fold, the Marauders.
They are a team of mutant mercenaries in Marvel Comics, originally assembled by Mr. Sinister to carry out brutal missions. New reports indicate that Marvel might have plans to introduce them into the MCU as part of its expanding mutant narrative.

Bruce Banner and the Hulk couldn’t be more different from each other. While one would want to smash out and destroy you in a fight, the other will hold your hand and calmly talk to you about what went wrong. Perhaps this is why we love Mark Ruffalo’s Avenger so much. One moment, he is the terrifying green ball of rage, and the other, he’s a guy you’d bring home to meet your parents.
The thing is, when Bruce Banner Hulks out, he doesn’t listen to anyone, not even his close friend, Tony Stark. However, there is one man he takes orders from – Captain America. A theory explains why.

While Bruce Banner is a genius, Hulk is more primal – a destructive force of nature with little to no tolerance for authority.

The MCU is slowly building the story for the Avengers: Doomsday movie, which is going to be a major cinematic event. The Thunderbolts* have been a success and Marvel is hoping that the upcoming Fantastic Four movie will be just the right thing to warm the fans up for the upcoming spectacle.
We know that both Doomsday and Secret Wars are going to fully embrace the multiversal concept of the current saga, which means that we are going to see numerous legacy characters appear in the movies.
One of them is Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, who first debuted in the 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand. And while these movies are not part of the main MCU timeline, Grammer is going to reprise his role alongside other major names. In a recent interview, he discussed this fact.

H.E.R.B.I.E. is one of the most unexpected additions to The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, where better to introduce the fan-favourite character than in a retro-futuristic 1960s New York?
A new "Silence Your Cell Phones" PSA is currently playing in theaters, and it sees the loveable robot briefly warn audiences, "You know better." However, that's subtitled, and his speaking voice is a series of computer noises; is this indicative of what we'll see in the movie itself?
If so, this promises to be a very unique voiceover role for General Grievous actor Matthew Wood.
"He’s absolutely as important and as alive as any other member of the cast," The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman recently said of H.E.R.B.I.E. "He’s sometimes a slightly put-upon robot, but he is definitely a member of the family. He’s just so charming and adorable.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is currently undergoing reshoots in Los Angeles, and Julia Garner has been spotted on set as Shalla-Bal, not the Silver Surfer.
With striking blonde hair and a white dress boasting a cosmic blue pattern, Shalla-Bal is seemingly no longer a Herald of Galactus (or has yet to become one). The actor was shown facing the shoreline before turning around and spreading her arms wide.
It's impossible to say what's happening; this could be a flashback revealing when she became the Silver Surfer or perhaps a scene from the end of the film where she's freed of that burden. It may even be something setting up the events of Avengers: Doomsday, though Garner isn't currently expected to appear in that movie.

Recently, Marvel Studios hasn’t been as busy as usual when announcing new projects. That’s why there are only four MCU movies with confirmed release dates at the moment. Still, there are plenty of announced TV shows and MCU movies that have not yet set release dates. So, with that said, let’s look at all of the upcoming Marvel movies and shows that will be released (soon).
Editor’s Note: This list was updated in May 2025, after the release of Thunderbolts* and reflects the most recent changes.
Ironheart
‘Ironheart’ is a new Marvel TV miniseries coming to Disney+ in 2025, based on the Marvel Comics character Riri Williams.

More often than not, the movie laid out in the first draft of a script is radically different from the one audiences see in movie theaters. It's always fun to get a glimpse into the "what-could-have-beens" of cinema, and that's especially true for the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe hit.
Thunderbolts* is making headlines for all the right reasons; it shines the spotlight on a lovable roster of titular characters, the action sequences are fast-paced and well-choreographed, it has Oscar-worthy performances, and its narrative does a flawless job of dealing with themes of depression, mental health, and redemption. It's hard to imagine a world in which the movie ended up being any different, but that was almost the case.
While The Void finally made its big screen debut and quickly positioned itself as one of the scariest MCU villains ever, its place was almost taken by a very unlikely choice in early drafts.

It appears the devastating blow in HBO’s The Last of Us season 2 isn’t the only major beating that Pedro Pascal is going to take onscreen in a major franchise. With Pascal set to mark his debut in the MCU’s ever-expanding multiverse with the highly anticipated The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the actor has already been incorporated into next year’s Doomsday.
While story bits regarding their upcoming clash against Doom remain under wraps, one X-Men star has seemingly confirmed his onscreen clash against Pascal’s Reed Richards in Doomsday.

Alan Cummingis spilling the beans on a fight that could happen during Avengers: Doomsday. During a recent interview with Buzzfeed UK, the X-Men actor pulled the curtain on the work he has done for the upcoming Marvel crossover. Thunderbolts* ends with one of the McU's best (and longest) post-credits scenes. In that, we catch up with the New Avengers and watch as they're alerted to the imminent arrival of the Fantastic Four on Earth-616.
On a monitor in the team's headquarters, an extradimensional ship enters the atmosphere and The Fantastic Four: First Steps theme plays as the team's "4" logo is revealed on the side.
The scene ends with a shot of Yelena Belova's face, but Sebastian Stan and Wyatt Russell have revealed a humorous moment featuring Bucky Barnes and U.S. Agent debating the meaning of that number.
Here's an excerpt from their conversation with Rotten Tomatoes (the full video can be watched below).
Sebastian Stan: Since I haven't seen it yet, did our thing make it? The four?
Wyatt Russell: Honestly? No, it didn't.

Marvel Studios ruled the cinematic landscape from 2008 until around 2019, thanks in no small part to the novelty of its shared universe, a concept every film studio tried and failed to mimic. Beginning with Jon Favreau's "Iron Man," the Marvel Cinematic Universe successfully propelled popular heroes and villains to the big screen, culminating with enormous blockbuster events in the form of "Avengers" movies, not to mention standout hits like Ryan Coogler's "Black Panther" and Jon Watts' "Spider-Man: No Way Home."
More impressively, the MCU made frequent use of the ultimate gimmick: cameos, often arising during mid-credit scenes, which usually introduced or teased new characters like Thanos (Josh Brolin) and the Collector (Benicio del Toro), who would often go on to play vital roles in later pictures. In fact, one could argue the MCU took off due to Samuel L. Jackson's surprising appearance as Nick Fury in "Iron Man.

Thunderbolts* has drawn plenty of obvious comparisons to two other superhero teams, with many immediately dubbing the anti-hero collective the MCU’s answer to the Suicide Squad. However, director Jake Schreier believes that there are some very distinctive differences that set the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s group apart from other similar characters.
Speaking to Cbr while promoting the movie, Schreier explained that although there are certain comparisons to be made, the MCU’s newest team is very different to other groups out there with dubious pasts.

The Russo Brothers may be hard at work filming Avengers: Doomsday, but they made time to promote the McU's latest arrival: Thunderbolts*. The filmmakers also teased a special post-credits scene that they directed from the set of the next Avengers film.
"If you haven't seen Thunderbolts*...Go now!" The Russo Bros. wrote in an Instagram post containing poster art for the film. "[Jacke Schreier] made a fantastic film! Congratulations to the entire cast and crew," they wrote before teasing Doomsday. "And make sure to stay until the very end of the credits... we left you a little something." Last week, Schreier teased that he didn't shoot the final post-credits sequence, and heavily hinted that it was the Russo Bros. who filmed it on the set of Doomsday. Editor's note: This article contains spoilers for Thunderbolts*.
If you stayed through the end credits of Thunderbolts*, then you were treated to one of the MCU’s most loaded — and longest — post-credits scenes yet. The mysterious appearance of a spacecraft marked with a giant “4” stole most of the spotlight, and understandably so, given the wider implications of it, but one lingering question remains for fans invested in the shadowy new world of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine’s operations: Where was Mel?
Played by Geraldine Viswanathan, Mel was very quickly one of Thunderbolts*’ most intriguing new characters. As Valentina’s quietly calculating assistant — who might not be as loyal as she seems — Mel operates in the background, subtly pulling strings and shaping the outcome of several pivotal moments in the film, like a true sleeper agent. So when the team ends up inside Avengers Tower (rebranded as the “Watchtower”) and makes...

The summer movie season has officially kicked off, and Thunderbolts* is already being celebrated as one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s strongest entries in years—not just by critics, but by audiences as well. There's something Disney and Marvel both really needed. With a Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 95% and an average rating of 4.6/5, a solid A- CinemaScore, Marvel’s latest team-up film is striking a chord.
The film brings together Marvel’s antiheroes—Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Ava Starr / Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), John Walker / U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian (David Harbour), James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes / Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), and Bob Reynolds / Sentry (Lewis Pullman)—who are coerced into working as a unit by Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ manipulative CIA chief, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. What begins as a forced alliance soon turns into a mission to stop a deadly threat that’s far closer than any of them realized.

We first brought you some details on Thunderbolts*'s post-credits scenes last week, but with the movie now playing in theaters, we figured many of you might like a refresher and a slightly more in-depth breakdown about what happens.
With the team officially revealed as the McU's "New Avengers" during the movie's final act, the mid-credits scene finds Alexei Shostakov in the grocery store, now rocking short hair and a moustache.
Encountering a woman in the cereal aisle, he attempts to coerce her into buying a box of Wheaties. Why? It has the New Avengers on the front, and while she initially agrees and takes the box, she sets it down at the end of the aisle and hurries away from the overly enthusiastic Red Guardian.
The post-credits scene is far more impactful and also the longest MCU stinger to date.
In that, we catch up with the New Avengers "14 months later" in Avengers Tower.

After the lights come up in a Marvel movie, audiences know better than to move. After all, there’s almost always something waiting for us in the mid and post-credit world, and Thunderbolts* is no different. Let’s talk about what’s coming in our post-credits, how many there are, and the general vibe of the credits themselves.
Are there post-credits scenes in Thunderbolts*? RelatedThunderbolts* Review — Is the MCU Revitalized?
Yes, there are two post-credits scenes and a name change for the movie. Whether that sticks when the movie releases in the future remains to be seen, but it’s a fun kickoff for the MCU.
Wait, a name change for the movie?
Yes, you read that right. After a handful of scenes where characters quip about calling the team “The Thunderbolts,” a team name is given to them by Valentina. As the credits roll, Thunderbolts* swivels around, showcasing their new team name New Avengers.

Joseph Quinn’s much-anticipated project of the year will be The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but right now, critics are raving about his another performance. He has heaped praises from moviegoers for his gut-wrenching acting performance in Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza’s war-action film, Warfare.
Quinn plays the role of leading Petty Officer Sam, a character based on the real-life Navy Seal veteran Joe Hildebrand. Through Quinn’s character, the film explores Hildebrand’s experience with Ptsd and trauma during his time in the service. From the words of the critics, it appears that Quinn was exceptional in the role.

We all make mistakes. For most of us, they’re not much more consequential than buying the wrong kind of milk, but in Hollywood, it might be signing onto a seven- or eight-figure project only to realize it’s garbage. Those who can’t just write it off on their taxes sometimes take extreme measures to make sure it never gets seen or at least make the experience as unpleasant as possible. Sometimes, they design it that way from the get-go.

Pedro Pascal Says Playing Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four: First Steps Was “Really Intimidating”

Pedro Pascal says stepping into the role of Reed Richards in Marvel’s upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps brought a level of pressure unlike any other franchise project he’s worked on. The film, which places the superhero team in a 1960s alternate timeline, is set for theatrical release on July 25.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pascal described the role as “really intimidating.” He acknowledged that while he’s accustomed to entering large-scale worlds, this one still stood out. “I relied on the people that I was around to hold me to the experience and help get me through it,” he said. “Every time I’ve stepped into something huge — Game of Thrones, Narcos, Star Wars, The Last of Us — I always think I can’t top how intimidating it was, but each one somehow is.”
Directed by Matt Shakman, the film marks the fourth big-screen interpretation of the Fantastic Four.

Jon Hamm in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? I know it sounds like fan-casting fantasy, but the Tag actor has made it shown over the years that he is willing to suit up if given a chance. And honestly, Hamm is one of those actors who would fit right into the roles of many superhero characters.
The best part is, since the MCU got into the whole multiverse thing, it has opened up whole new possibilities, the option to cast multiple people to play the same superhero without having to change existing characters. Apart from that, many superheroes have not been explored yet; the comic book is filled with endless possibilities for Jon Hamm to make an entrance into the world of superheroes.

This is not just a fan fantasy either, he has shown interest in the role of playing a superhero in interviews.

As Joseph Quinn joins the MCU, he has a more evolved take on his character, who debuted in 1961.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps star recently explained how his version of Johnny Storm contrasts from previous iterations of the Human Torch “as this womanizing, devil-may-care guy,” which he doesn’t find “sexy these days.”
“He’s a man that leads with a lot of bravado, which can be an affront sometimes. But also he’s funny,” Quinn told Entertainment Weekly. “Myself and [Marvel Studios boss] Kevin [Feige] were speaking about previous iterations of him and where we are culturally. He was branded as this womanizing, devil-may-care guy, but is that sexy these days? I don’t think so. This version of Johnny is less callous with other people’s feelings, and hopefully there’s a self-awareness about what’s driving that attention-seeking behavior.”

Metaphorical and physical ‘doom’ is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Robert Downey Jr. ditching his old Iron Man armor and taking on a very different role as Victor von Doom. While Doctor Doom was once known as a Fantastic Four villain, his many years of scheming against (and occasionally allying with) the Avengers makes him the perfect replacement for Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror.
Even though plans for what was supposed to be Avengers: The Kang Dynasty have had to be overhauled, there’s the altogether more exciting prospect of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars breaking records. There are your standard war films, and then there's "Warfare," existing worlds apart and in a league all its own. Alex Garland's latest directorial effort will inevitably feel reminiscent of his prior heart-pounding action/thriller from a year ago, "Civil War," though with several key differences. For one, viewers will quickly realize there is no real "narrative" here in a traditional sense, instead stripped completely of any rousing speeches or acts of glory or overdone clichés. For another, this boots-on-the-ground flick is much more limited in scope, focusing on a single 2006 mission in Iraq gone horribly wrong and told largely in real time. But more than anything else, "Warfare" is a refreshingly true story with little to no exaggeration whatsoever, told from the specific points of view of those who were actually there -- including co-director and Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza.

Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa was at one point set to be part of the new trinity of the MCU, along with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. However, a slew of things, including Boseman’s tragic passing, made it impossible for these plans to come to fruition in the MCU.
There was a lot of reluctance when it came to recasting T’Challa in the MCU, however, it seems that that attitude has changed a bit in the following years. From the introduction of T’Challa’s son, T’Challa II, to the multiverse being thrown wide open in the upcoming MCU films, the possibilities are endless for the character to return.

Ever since Deadpool & Wolverine brought back Chris Evans as the Human Torch, fans have been hit with a wave of nostalgia. It turns out that people might have missed seeing him as a charming, slightly sleezy hothead more than the beloved Captain America.
Now, as Marvel gears up for the release of the much-hyped Fantastic Four: The First Steps, Joseph Quinn is suiting up to take on the role of Johnny Storm. And he’s bringing the heat in a whole new way.

In a recent interview, Quinn shared that his version of Johnny Storm is ditching the old-school ladies’ man persona. This time around, the Human Torch won’t be all about cheesy pick-up lines and flirting with every woman in sight. Here is more on that!
Joseph Quinn doesn’t want Johnny Storm to be a womanizer anymore!

The Fantastic Four: First Step will finally introduce Marvel’s first family to the MCU, but the film won’t include Doctor Doom as the main villain. Instead, we’ll finally get a comic-accurate take of Galactus the Devourer of Worlds. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, director Matt Shakman explained why they didn’t go with Doctor Doom.
“Doom’s a great character, but he takes up a lot of air,” Shakman said. “Other film adaptations have done both an origin story and Doom. We’re doing neither, and that allows us to look at them from a fresh perspective.“
Although Doctor Doom won’t be featured in The Fantastic Four: First Steps (although I’d be shocked if Robert Downey Jr.’s take on the character didn’t show up in a post-credit sequence), the foursome will meet up with the good doctor in Avengers: Doomsday.
