Game of Thrones and The Hunger Games star Natalie Dormer is set to lead the cast of White Lies, a South African crime thriller from M-Net, Quizzical Pictures and Fremantle.
The Hollywood Reporter can reveal that the British actress — who became a fan favorite for playing Margaery Tyrell across 26 episodes of Game of Thrones — is now in Cape Town, where shooting is due to start on March 6. Dormer also had major roles in Picnic at Hanging Rock and The Tudors, and moved into producing and writer with 2018 thriller In Darkness.
Joining Dormer is award-winning South African actor Brendon Daniels, whose credits include the acclaimed film Four Corners, Skemerdans and Trackers, another M-Net international co-production.

Welcome to the Brenaissance -- or Brendanaissance, whatever you want to call it!
Brendan Fraser is enjoying a long-overdue comeback thanks to his gut-wrenching performance in The Whale.
Though he's most famous for goofy roles and being beautiful in 1990s rom-coms, Fraser has an exceptional range that often gets overlooked, particularly as he has matured and taken on a wider variety of roles in diverse projects.
Fraser has starred alongside some cinematic heavy hitters and taken all sorts of risks -- indie films, big-budget studio flicks, and television -- he's done it all.
Here are some examples of his best work, including some of his biggest hits and some underrated gems.
The Mummy (1999)
Fraser channels Errol Flynn and Indiana Jones as Rick O'Connell in The Mummy, his most commercially successful and enduring hit.
It's got everything -- thrills, romance, action, horror. Fraser and co-star Rachel Weisz have terrific chemistry as...

Everyone loves a comeback story. Just look at Tiger Woods. And Hollywood especially loves a good comeback such as Judy Garland with 1954’s “A Star is Born.” The latest Tinseltown comeback is none other than Brendan Fraser, who over the past 30 years starred in everything from lowbrow comedies (“Encino Man”) to action blockbusters ( “The Mummy”) to acclaimed dramas and even a Best Picture Oscar winner (“Crash”).
But the 53-year-old actor has gone through a rough patch: a divorce including a well-publicized alimony issue in 2013, health issues, depression, the death of his mother and the 2018 revelation where he alleged, he had been sexually assaulted by the former head of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. in 2003. After stepping away for a while, Fraser has been slowly working his way back appearing in such TV series as Showtime’s “The Affair” and DC Universe and HBO Max series “Doom Patrol.”

Last month, I had the honor of interviewing film composer Paul Mills, a composer who has worked on a number of films, including War Room (2015), Still Breathing (1997), and Sweet Sweet Summertime (2017), just to name a few examples. This interview had to do with one of Paul’s most recent works, his score for […]

Stephen Colbert introduced a new segment on The Late Show on Monday night titled "Lyrics We Can Afford to Songs We Love." In the first installment, Green Day sang "Camptown Races" – written by the 19th century American songwriter Stephen Foster, and thus freely available in the public domain – over their 1997 hit, "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)."
Green Day performed the song acoustically in the dressing room, with Billie Joe Armstrong strumming a guitar and Late Show bandleader Jon Batiste accompanying him. Colbert and Armstrong traded lead vocals, while Mike Dirnt...

After getting framed for bank robbery in their last music video for “Bang Bang,” Green Day take a different route in their emotional new video for “Still Breathing.” The song is taken off their latest record, Revolution Radio, and if you’re looking for a Green Day track with a pop edge that cements itself in your head, here you have it.
The “Still Breathing” video finds frontman Billie Joe Armstrong at his lowest, but through it all, he still finds a way to persevere by the end. Given the fact that the song’s lyrics allude to past addictions that Armstrong dealt with in real life, the video probably shares some emotions that he was going through back then, too. Though Green Day are the masters of videos that are high intensity and in your face, meaningful ones like “Still Breathing” are part of the reason why the band...

Green Day is back with a vengeance with their latest album, Revolution Radio, which hits stores everywhere today. The high-intensity punk rock record brings the band back to the forefront of relevance with their lead single “Bang Bang” and catchy pop tracks like “Still Breathing” and “Bouncing Off the Wall.” The band also shows that they haven’t lost the fire when it comes to television performances, as Green Day recently brought the house down with their appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Green Day emulates that sheer raw emotion in the live rendition of “Bang Bang,” and it measures up to the studio version without a flaw. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong sounds at his best while manning the microphone, and with bassist Mike Dirnt’s booming bass lines, drummer Tre Cool doesn’t miss a beat. Overall, their “Bang Bang” TV debut does a great job at...

As iconic and as legendary as Green Day are, they are not invincible. Despite genre defining records such as Warning or Dookie – or even their magnum opus, American Idiot – they are still subject to scrutiny when it’s warranted. For the latter half of 2012 … well, it was warranted. The group took a risk, maybe too big of a risk, on the trilogy of records known as ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! that were released in the fall of 2012, and they weren’t even part of the same collection.
Each its own separate full-length and each its own selection in the band’s discography, the records maybe caught even more heat than if they were just released as a triple disc. To say the lackluster albums tarnished the band’s twenty year legacy may be harsh, but there was a point when most thought that ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! were simply a...

Green Day showed off their aggression early on with Revolution Radio, deciding to drop the full speed punk songs “Bang Bang” and title track, “Revolution Radio,” to present to everybody what the record is all about. They’re revealing another side of the upcoming full-length, out October 7th, today with the debut of “Still Breathing,” and it’s the strongest outing yet.
“Still Breathing” takes a route that is classified as more pop than punk, with verses with vocal melodies that basically double as ear candy. The chorus picks up the pace, but it’s far from the intensity we’ve seen previously. “Still Breathing” is Green Day’s unapologetic cry to make an impact in the mainstream pop world, because although “Bang Bang” is finding success on the rock charts, this sugary number is begging for inclusion on the Top 40. Best Song Oscar 2016 contender 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' with Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan. 74 entries in contention for 2016 Best Song Academy Award 'Tis the season for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to announce the semi-finalists – in some instances, the semi-semi-finalists – for the Academy Awards. There are 74 contenders, with titles ranging from “Happy” and “I'll See You in My Dreams” to “Hypnosis” and “Bhoomiyilenghanumundo.” Curiously, apart from the inevitable animated and/or kiddie flicks (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, Anomalisa, Pan, Shaun the Sheep Movie, Home, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge out of Water, etc.) most of this year's contenders are songs from smaller movies and Bollywood/South Asian releases. Exceptions include Sam Taylor-Johnson's Fifty Shades of Grey, Ryan Coogler's Creed, Kenneth Branagh's...

Fans were put through the wringer Monday night during the hour-long finale of How I Met Your Mother. And the instantaneous reaction online was…not overwhelmingly positive. While the episode certainly had its fans (EW’s Katie Atkinson enjoyed it!), many felt like the rug had been ripped out from under them. I was in the second group.
Spoilers for How I Met Your Mother!
When the clock struck 9:01 p.m. Et and the episode was over, I went on a mass-texting spree the likes of which haven’t been seen since I was a teenage girl with a crush.

New York — Celeste Holm, a versatile, bright-eyed blonde who soared to Broadway fame in "Oklahoma!" and won an Oscar in "Gentleman's Agreement" but whose last years were filled with financial difficulty and estrangement from her sons, died Sunday, a relative said. She was 95.
Holm had been hospitalized about two weeks ago with dehydration. She asked her husband on Friday to bring her home and spent her final days with her husband, Frank Basile, and other relatives and close friends by her side, said Amy Phillips, a great-niece of Holm's.
Holm died around 3:30 a.m. at her longtime apartment on Central Park West, located in the same building where Robert De Niro lives and where a fire broke out last month, Phillips said.
"I think she wanted to be here, in her home, among her things, with people who loved her," she said.

This might upset some of you, so I suggest you get your security blanket or hold on to some sturdy; James Lafferty’s life may not be safe in One Tree Hill’s ninth season. Are you still there? Still breathing? Okay, good. Let us continue. At this point, this doesn’t necessarily mean death, but you have to admit if they were going to kill off Lafferty’s character (Nathan), the show’s final season would be the time to do it. During the Critics Television Association summer press tour it was revealed that Lafferty would appear in “multiple episodes.” That means he won’t be in every episode, or even most. There could be a very good explanation for his lack of presence. Maybe he’s just out of town a good portion of the season?

"American Idol" alum Allison Iraheta showed her pride over the weekend in Long Beach.
The Los Angeles teenager headlined the Long Beach Gay Pride performance on Sunday, May 16, in conjunction with the 27th annaul pride parade.
According to Water Cooler Convo, Iraheta played a 12-song set that included "Holiday," "Beat Me Up," "Still Breathing," "Cry Baby/Piece of My Heart," "Just Like You," "Scars," "Robot Love," "Killing Me Softly," "No One Else," "Don't Waste the Pretty," "Friday I'll Be Over U" and "Heartbreaker."

Oh, Brendan Fraser. I have now watched yet another film in which you engage in slapstick with CGI animals. Granted, Furry Vengeance isn't even the low point of your career. But still -- CGI animals? Again?
In the spirit of full disclosure, I want to explain that I am deeply, heart-breakingly in love with Brendan Fraser. This affair, which exists entirely in my own mind but has never blossomed into full-blown stalking, has been going on for a long, long time, despite the fact that most of his films are pedestrian DVD fodder.

Dye your hair with Kool-Aid and start joking about cutting, because 30-second snippets of Allison Iraheta's major label debut Just Like You have hit the web. Everybody knows I was less-than-thrilled with the super-poppy, heavily-processed vocals of Iraheta's Max Martin-produced single "Friday I'll Be Over U." But will the rest of her album make me happy? Let's go through these too-short snippets and see.
» "Friday I'll Be Over U"
This.
» "Robot Love"
In this pulsating electro-pop ditty (which samples Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll Part II"), Iraheta is pissed that her boyfriend is in love with a robot. Whether said robot is an actual lady cyborg or just an iPhone is to be determined. Also Tbd? Whether this song will have a discernible melody. We're on track two and I'm already thinking "filler?" Ruh-roh.
» "Just Like You"
Good news: I'm finally hearing Allison's voice without a bunch of studio trickery around it.

17-year-old "American Idol" alumni Allison Iraheta is preparing to release her debut album, "Just Like You," on December 1st. But the red-haired rocker isn't waiting for her second album to pull out the big guns. Her debut features songwriting and production from the likes of Max Martin, Pink, and Kara DioGuardi.
Kelly Clarkson named Iraheta as one of her favorite Idols last season and now her "Since U Been Gone" hitmaker is at the helm of her first single, "Friday I'll Be Over U," along with Shellback. The two also wrote and produce the title track for the album, "Just Like You."
Also fresh off Clarkson's current hit album are producers Howard Benson and Sam Watters and Louis Biancaniello. Benson produced tracks like single "I Do Not Hook Up" and "Don't Let Me Stop You" for Clarkson, and contributes "Don't Waste the Pretty" and "Still Breathing" to Iraheta's album. Watters...

The list of familiar contributors to the album suggests that while Iraheta is digging into her rock roots, she's also seriously indulging her pop side as well.
Like Lambert, Iraheta tapped "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi for some songwriting help for the LP, due out December 1. What songs will make it to Allison Iraheta's debut album "Just Like You" have been obtained via Walmart. Aside from already-outed single "Friday I'll Be Over You", it also has Kevin Rudolf-produced track "Beat Me Up" and a song called "You Don't Know Me" which she wrote with David Hodges.
Allison previously opened up to Entertainment Weekly on what "Beat Me Up" revolves around. "It's a pretty rad song. This chick likes being mistreated by her guy. While looking at superhero films and comicbook adaptations, the La Times Blog couldn't help but discuss The Green Hornet. Got all that? Rogen is the co-writer of the film and the title character and while the project helped him get in trim shape, it's not yet clear what else he is accomplishing with it.
