Exclusive: Renowned award-winning film and television director Peter Segal has signed with A3 Artists Agency. Known for his classic comedies, Segal will always be remembered for directing the Paramount hit Tommy Boy, which starred the late Chris Farley in one of his most memorable performances.
Segal’s career spans three decades and has delivered some of the great comedies in that time that includes Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult, Nutty Professor II: The Klumps and My Fellow Americans. Wilford Brimley, the unlikely character actor who brought both curmudgeonry and geniality to films like Cocoon, The China Syndrome, The Natural and Tender Mercies, has died at the age of 85.

Wilford Brimley, best known for his roles in “The Natural,” the 1982 remake of “The Thing,” “The Firm” and “Cocoon,” died on Saturday. He was 85.
His agent, Lynda Bensky, told The New York Times that he had been sick with a kidney problem for two months.
Brimley was also famous for the series of commercials for Quaker Oats in which he appeared.
Pauline Kael ably summed up his appeal in a few words. Reviewing “Cocoon” for the New Yorker in 1985, she said, “Wilford Brimley, with his walrus mustache and friendly belly, brings an ornery impudence to his role.”
Brimley, who seemed to enter old age several decades ago, appeared perfectly at home in the Ron Howard-directed movie about senior citizens unintentionally rejuvenated by an alien life force in the pool where they do water aerobics even though he was only 51 at the time. A Tearful Farewell: President Obama, Daughter Malia (and Even Joe Biden) Weep During Farewell Speech

Many were emotional while witnessing President Barack Obama make his farewell address, including the commander-in-chief himself.
Obama pulled out his handkerchief and wiped his eyes when speaking about his wife of 25 years, First Lady Michelle Obama.
“Michelle – Michelle Lavaughn Robinson, girl of the Southside, for the past 25 years, you’ve been not only my wife and mother of my children, but my best friend,” the president said.
Adding, “You took on a role you didn’t ask for and made it your own with grace and grit and style and good humor. You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody.

American ex-Presidents occupy a unique place in society. They represent the smallest, most elite club on earth. Each of the living ex-Presidents has known the bizarre ritual that results from transforming from the most powerful person on earth to someone with absolutely no legal powers in the amount of time it takes the new President to swear to the oath of allegiance. An incumbent President in a deeply divided nation can consider themselves to be successful if poll numbers show they left office with an approval rate of the mid-40s or higher. However, the best way a President can make poll ratings soar is to simply leave office. Traditionally the American people, and the world at large, views ex-Presidents from a saner, more nuanced viewpoint and inevitably their reputations improve with time, largely because they are mostly seen doing good deeds and raising money for charities.

What Is It? From the writer/directors behind the cult favorite “Josie and the Pussycats” adaptation, this series follows two “ganjapeneurs” who run a weed delivery service in Los Angeles.
I’ll Like It If I Like… The “Broad City” influence is pretty clear, as the show is focused on the tight friendship between Jordan (Scout Durwood) and Paige (Jessica Rothe) and their stoner antics.
Why Should I Care? Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont’s unique approach to satirizing La hipster culture really help this show stand out from the pack of other female-led comedies, while also promising a more surreal touch. Durwood and Rothe also make for an enjoyable pairing. For fans of the pot comedy genre, it’s an easy sell.

Stephen Colbert offered his viewers more fun at the expense of Melania Trump on Tuesday’s “Late Show,” airing a sketch in which the wife of the Gop presidential nominee gives another speech about how she absolutely did not plagiarize her speech at the Republican National Convention. “My fellow Americans, This is truly the best of times; it is the worst of times,” Melania, played by actress Laura Benanti (“Supergirl”), says in the parody pulling from classic literature, TV theme songs and even commercial jingles. “I did not plagiarize my speech last night. One day after Melania Trump was accused of plagiarizing Michelle Obama with her Republican National Convention keynote address, the First Lady hopeful defended herself on The Late Show. Standing in front of a digital American flag, Ms. Trump (played by actress-singer Laura Benanti) explained she "did not plagiarize," with famous lines from Charles Dickens, the Beastie Boys, Braveheart, Dr. Seuss, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and more.
"My fellow Americans: This is truly the best of times; it is the worst of times," she said. "I did not plagiarize my speech last night.

A review of tonight's Veep coming up just as soon as I'm selling a young adult fiction novel about an alternate timeline... Well, that was not what I was expecting. At all. To the point where I briefly wondered if HBO had played us all for suckers and aired the Veep series finale without telling anyone in advance. They haven't, by the way. Not only was the show renewed back in April, but I've confirmed with someone at HBO that the renewal (which came with similar orders for Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley) wasn't an elaborate ruse to keep people from realizing the show was about to end. Veep will be back next year, but with a huge difference: Selina won't be the president anymore. Nor will she go back to being the vice-president. She will be an ex-potus, for however long the series runs past next season. I...

I was in bed with a five-alarm migraine praying for death or sleep, whichever came first. It was sleep and when it came it seemed to last about a second before my phone woke me. I ignored the call but soon it became apparent that was the first of many. My phone played my “wrong nigga to fuck with” ringtone so often I dreamt Lapd had arrested me again.
I picked up determined to destroy whoever it was.

Start with the title: Clown Car! may sound like the movie someone will inevitably make about the 2016 presidential campaign, but how about evoking those great Seventies wacky-journey films like Death Race 2000, Vanishing Point or Smokey and the Bandit?

My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over. Joe Dirt is back. "Doesn't get much gooder than this," he says. That's debatable, but the fact remains that he's all in all the time – again. But the ultra-mulleted, ultra-uncool character who first hit the big screen 14 years ago is not coming to a theater near you. No, Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser is the first digital sequel to a major studio film, and Sony’s Crackle will start streaming the David Spade spectacle…...

My fellow Americans, we received some devastating news this week, courtesy of Fox’s Empire: We are all just Boo-Boo Kitties, chasing our tails and kidding ourselves that we’ll ever keep it as real — or as tight — as Cookie Lyon.
I mean, try this one on for size: Ex-con Cookie walks into a celebrity soirée, spies her barely-legal rapper son with the fortysomething girlfriend he refers to as “Mama,” and begins throwing shade like a bamboo umbrella.

Horton Foote's The Trip to Bountiful illustrates that you can't go home again. Since it was first performed in 1953, the play remains a favorite for stage performance. Indeed, a recent Broadway revival starred a cast of Cicely Tyson, Vanessa Williams and Cuba Gooding, Jr. and was even made into a TV movie for Lifetime earlier this year.
But for many years, Foote resisted the idea of bringing his play to the silver screen. Director Peter Masterson was able to convince the Texan writer. Esteemed actress Geraldine Page (Sweet Bird of Youth, Hondo) went on to win an Oscar for her lead role of Carrie Watts in the resulting 1985 movie.

My fellow Americans, the state of the union is ... totally GIFable. While Barack Obama presented a modest policy agenda in his annual State of the Union address Tuesday night, the President's thunder was stolen by the personality sitting just above his right shoulder: Vice President Joe Biden, whose cartoonish facial expressions distracted and delighted the viewing populace. Here's one example of Biden bringing his alter-ego "Diamond Joe" to life: Elsewhere in the night, Biden encouraged Speaker of the House John Boehner to take a bow after Obama praised his rise from bartender's son to leader of the Congressional Republicans. Following an entertaining first trailer for the boxing comedy Grudge Match starring screen icons Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) and Robert De Niro (Raging Bull), a batch of posters have shown up taking an obvious but satisfying cue from the sport's history. De Niro and Stallone each get their own retro boxing posters, just like the old days before a big fight took place. And the theatrical poster for the film uses a similar style, but makes it a little more glossy with a vintage touch. Honestly, even Kevin Hart looks like he's not going to ruin this movie, and it might get Tommy Boy director Peter Segal out of the gutter. Look! Here are the new posters for Peter Segal's Grudge Match from Imp Awards: Grudge Match is directed by Peter Segal (Tommy Boy, My Fellow Americans, 50 First Dates) with a script from "Entourage" creator Doug Ellin and "Late Show with David Letterman...

"Time to train." Warner Bros has debuted the first official trailer for the movie Grudge Match, starring Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro as old timer boxers (Rocky and Raging Bull, but of course) who end up fighting each other one last time in a grudge match for the title. This plays much more like a broad mainstream comedy with supporting actors like Kevin Hart and Alan Arkin knocking out a few jokes throughout. This isn't exactly the triumphant return of these two greats in any kind of dramatic "they're back!" way, but it looks like a lot of fun. I'll probably be seeing it. Give it a look and tell us what you think? Here's the first official trailer for Peter Segal's Grudge Match, direct from Warner Bros' YouTube: Grudge Match is directed by Peter Segal (Tommy Boy, My Fellow Americans, 50 First Dates) with a script from "Entourage...

Way back in 2010 was when news first surfaced of the film Grudge Match. Tommy Boy and 50 First Dates director Peter Segal is behind the camera for the film, and we couldn't believe that Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) and Robert De Niro (Raging Bull) were in the running to play two bitter boxing rivals who are coaxed back into the ring for a grudge match 50 years after they fought for the title. But the actors were confirmed last summer, the film was greenlit last fall, and now the comedy is coming on Christmas Day this year. A first look photo has surfaced with our leads annoyed with fight promoter Kevin Hart. Look below! Here's the first photo from Peter Segal's Grudge Match from Warner Bros. President Obama’s Inauguration on Jan. 21 was filled with moments of joy, patriotism and stunning fashion, but nothing was more thrilling for the citizens lining the streets of Washington than the Presidential Parade!
