Streets of Laredo (1995)

Goofs

Streets of Laredo

Edit

Continuity

After leaving Joey at the ladies' house and heading to the saloon to see John Wesley Hardin, Maria is chased by the pig. She turns and shoots it and it falls on its left side. When she gets to the saloon and is talking to John Wesley, the camera shows the area behind her. The pig is lying on its right side and is still on its right side when she gets back to the house. When she takes her horse to bring it to the house, it is again on its left side.

Factual errors

Judge Roy Bean is killed in this film, and John Wesley Hardin survives. The manner of Bean's death does not conform to historical fact--Bean actually drank himself to death--but his reputation as a "hanging judge" who was hanged outside his own courthouse is a popular legend. However, John Wesley Hardin died in 1895. Judge Roy Bean died eight years later in 1903.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

In the original miniseries Lorena was illiterate. By the time set in Streets of Laredo she's a schoolteacher. Note: Lorena spent time with Clara before marrying Pea and during that time Clara taught her to read and write. It was difficult to recruit qualified teachers in small western towns and availability was the key requirement. Most students left to help the family farm or ranch early in their teens so teaching required only the basics.

Character error

The scar on Lori's cheek keeps changing. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not.
