There’s always something magical about a classic movie that refuses to age. It feels like the filmmakers have found the fountain of youth while the rest of the world scrambles for anti-aging creams. These classics aren’t just “old” movies; they’re the truest cinematic time capsules that still feel fresh, exciting, and oddly relevant. Take Casablanca, does romance get any cooler than Humphrey Bogart’s effortless swagger? Or The Godfather, where every line could double as life advice.
And yes, of course, how can we forget Psycho, which is still making people second-guess their shower curtain choices decades later? Honestly, the beauty of these timeless classics lies in their ability to connect with every generation. We’ve got themes of love, fear, ambition, and triumph that never go out of style, and neither do unforgettable characters or sharp dialogue. Doesn’t watching Roman Holiday feel like a warm hug from an old friend,...

There is no doubt that one’s life can change after they make it in Hollywood. For many, it is their dream to make it in the film industry. Once you land a major role, you can see that you’ve got the world at your feet: red-carpet events, blockbuster deals, and a bank account that most people can only dream about. It is the type of success that can change people’s lives.
But here is the thing–Hollywood is not everyone’s cup of tea. Sure, some stars go on to become fan favorites and build legacies, but it also puts the spotlight on them all the time, a price to pay for fame, which everyone might not enjoy. After getting a taste of the industry, we might see some chase Oscars and box office success, but there are also people who find a calling in something else.

Disney is leaving the famed Fox Studio Lot amid plans to centralize production teams in Burbank.

Throughout the Jurassic Park series, filmmakers have tried to up the ante with bigger, scarier creatures designed to "scare the kids." Whether it is the T. rex, Spinosaurus, or the Indominus Rex, fans have always considered the dinosaurs with "more teeth" the deadliest within the franchise. This time of year, movie lovers have no shortage of Christmas classics from which to choose. From Rankin/Bass’ iconic animated specials to cinematic ventures, like Miracle on 34th Street, there are plenty of seasonal favorites to enjoy, especially for fans of Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol. There are countless adaptations of the iconic tale, ranging from 1951’s Alastair Sim-led version to The Muppet Christmas Carol; it remains one of the most adapted stories of all time. One version, however, that often gets lost among Scrooge-y collections is 2004’s musical spin. Based upon the 1994 Broadway musical, this version holds nothing back. It’s filled with stars like Kelsey Grammer and Jane Krakowski and overflowing with drama, comedy, and lots of camp. But that’s exactly what makes it so good.

It's the holiday season, and with it comes all of its attendant traditions. Keeping tradition is a useful and important part of life, as it reminds all of us who we are and how far we've come while reorienting us for the future. It allows for reflection, too, letting us re-examine and take stock of our institutions and traditions themselves, seeing how much value they retain while adjusting them if necessary. For many, 1988's "Die Hard" has become a staple holiday season viewing. Yet watching the film is a tradition that has begat a new tradition of its own: debating on social media whether "Die Hard" actually is a Christmas movie or not. For those of us eager to enjoy our annual viewing of director John McTiernan's action classic unadorned, this debate is a tradition we'd rather do away with, but it's sadly one that keeps returning every year.

The concept of the holiday movie began back in 1898 with G.A. Smith’s pioneering silent film Santa Claus. The first of its kind to show the depiction of Santa that only runs just shy over a minute.
Since then Hollywood has belted out an array of films that have either been true to the genre such as A Christmas Story; The Holiday; Miracle On 34th Street; Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey or films like Die Hard; Brazil, and Gremlins that have teetered on the edge of identifying as a holiday film.
Then there are the anti-holiday movies and the Christmas horrors. Subgenres of their own like the slasher Silent Night, Deadly Night, Black Christmas, and Christmas Evil, a John Waters favorite, so you are inclined to know what demented viewing you are in for.

Everyone has their favorite on-screen Santa. Whether it's Ed Asner's gruff but warm Santa in 2003's Elf or Edmund Gwenn's immortal portrayal in 1947's Miracle on 34th Street, countless actors have donned the red and white suit. But one actor isn't often in that conversation, despite playing the role twice within a three-year span.
That actor is Jim Broadbent, one of the most recognizable British character actors who's lent his jovial sensibility to everything from Bridget Jones's Diary to the Harry Potter films. Broadbent first took a turn as Santa in vocal form in 2011's acclaimed animated adventure Arthur Christmas, before getting a chance to don the white beard three years later in 2014's Get Santa. The film was generally met with good reviews at the time, but has since largely disappeared into the stream of would-be Christmas classics.

’Twas the weekend before Christmas… With the holiday season upon us, many of us are starting to revisit some of our of Christmas favourites. I actually went to see a 4K re-release of the original Black Christmas last night here in Montreal. There’s something comforting upon returning to our old favourites every year, whether they be traditional Christmas classics, or perhaps something a little more modern, like Die Hard, which, despite many claiming otherwise, has totally established itself as a Christmas classic over the years.
Whatever the case, there are certainly Loads of Christmas movies, with everything from old-time classics like It’s A Wonderful Life or some of the many versions of A Christmas Carol (the Alistair Sim version is the best Imo), or something like Love Actually, which is virtually inescapable at this time of the year.

With the holiday season in full swing, people are watching their favorite Christmas classics, like National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Miracle on 34th Street, Die Hard, and others. A more recent classic is Elf, the unexpected 2003 hit film starring Will Ferrell and directed by Jon Favreau. It's a highly quotable movie and full of fun and memorable scenes. One was supposed to be a quick, one-liner moment that ended up becoming a fan favorite. But Favreau had to fight to keep the scene in after the producers wanted to cut it.
The scene in question is when Buddy Elf (Ferrell) is sent to the mailroom by his biological father, Walter (played memorably by James Caan) to essentially get out of the way. While there, Buddy meets the way-older-than-he-looks "Mailroom Guy," played by character actor Mark Acheson. There is an entire catalog of holiday movies that are a tradition for viewers to rewatch every year. Titles like How the Grinch Stole Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, and more are wholesome iconic movies that teach the values of love and family at Christmas. Hallmark has built an entire brand around their seasonal selections that thrive on corny romances and feel-good stories. R-rated holiday movies kick down the door with their action, language, and explicit scenes all while counting down the days until Christmas. The most rewatchable of that batch shakes up the seasonal streaming with characters and premises for after the children are nestled all snug in their beds.

Yes, The Grover Dill Actor Really Tried To Buy The A Christmas Story House — Where Yano Anaya Is Now

Fans of A Christmas Story will remember the snot-nosed bully Grover Dill, and the actor who plays him, Yano Anaya, must have had a great time on set, considering how he wanted to purchase the original A Christmas Story house. A Christmas Story is a classic of the Christmas movie canon and as much a part of the holidays as Home Alone, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Miracle on 34th Street. It's synonymous with the season and a heartwarming and hilarious tale about a young boy and his family's misadventures during Christmastime in the 1940s.
The third installment in the Parker family saga, which includes the first film in the series, The Phantom of the Open Hearth from 1976, and the latest film, A Christmas Story Christmas, which arrived in 2022. A Christmas Story is by far the most memorable movie in the holiday franchise, with incredible quotes, hilarious scenes, and lovable characters.

'Tis the season for watching holiday movies, and Amazon MGM Studios is delivering a brand new one in the Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Chris Evans-starring action-comedy, Red One. During a time when a big-budget movie is expected to be a sequel to a popular franchise, based on a comic book or video game, remake or reimagining of a beloved movie, or cashing in on 1980s or 1990s nostalgia, it makes this holiday-themed appear to be a risk, and one that didn't pay off at the box office.

K. Simmons). The big question about Red One is who the film was made for. There are a few things about the action comedy...

Although there is no shortage of Christmas movies out there, very few of them end up lasting a long time in the public consciousness. The last movie to truly prove itself long-term was the 2003 comedy "Elf," which is up there on most people's rewatch list every time the holidays come around. For the most part, though, our favorite Christmas movies are the older ones, like "Home Alone" (1990), "A Christmas Story" (1983), "A Christmas Carol" (1951), or "Miracle on 34th Street" (1947).
Before all of those was "It's a Wonderful Life," which came out in 1946 and is now considered the absolute best film the Christmas genre has to offer. Movies play a pivotal role in many families' Christmas and holiday celebrations. To some people, it isn't truly Christmas until they've watched The Muppet Christmas Carol, Miracle on 34th Street, or It's a Wonderful Life with their family. However, there is one anime Christmas film that, despite being heavily praised by both critics and viewers, has failed to join the pantheon of quintessential Christmas films despite the film being a modern take on many of the themes found in popular Christmas classics.

Documentary about amateur theatre group’s take on classic horror film made available to wider audience
For anyone who is weary of the usual feelgood festive films – Love Actually, Elf, Miracle on 34th Street and so on – a more offbeat offering involving a bunch of bus drivers and a joyfully amateur retelling of the space horror Alien may just appeal.
The documentary Alien on Stage tells the unlikely story of how the bus drivers, plus friends and relatives, decided that rather than put on their usual pantomime they would have a bash at Ridley Scott’s classic – and how, despite shaky sets, dodgy special effects and uneven acting (to put it kindly), they ended up in London’s theatreland.

Home Alone is No. 1 on the Disney+ Top 10 chart in the United States, so there's reason to celebrate for those fans of "ya filthy animal." One of the best ways to celebrate the start of the holiday season is by enjoying a nice, heartwarming Christmas movie. While there are many options, one of the most beloved holiday films is the 1946 Frank Capra classic, It's a Wonderful Life. Starring James Stewart, the iconic film tells the story of George Bailey. Just when George is at his lowest, his guardian angel reveals to him how drastically different the world would be if he had never existed. The film is a beautiful encapsulation of the holiday spirit and a valuable story about the importance of every life.

With the holiday season fast approaching, it is almost time to revisit beloved Christmas films, and plenty of people may find themselves turning to Disney to scratch that itch. Many of the best Christmas films are nostalgic and timeless, reminding us of family traditions, past holiday memories, and lessons of goodwill. Whether Christmas or not, Disney is a studio that excels at making movies with these themes.
The studio, one of the oldest and most prevalent in Hollywood, has created several popular holiday films, from classic holiday movies like Miracle on 34th Street to newer projects like Noelle, with its delightful cast. At times, they have even used the holiday season to bring back well-loved Disney characters for Christmas specials, whether it be full-length films or Disney's great holiday and winter shorts. However, some of the studio's best holiday projects have a few things in common: beloved characters, important life lessons,...

It can often feel like Christmas movies are dominated by the classics, with many a 21st-century offering struggling to compete with the likes of It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, and the many versions of A Christmas Carol. Alas, one such movie to become underrated thanks to the nostalgia-weighted festive period is Sarah Smith's Arthur Christmas. Boasting an impressive certified fresh 92% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as well as an audience score of 77%, Arthur Christmas can be fairly considered a modern holiday classic based on quality, and perhaps deserves better mention when discussing the greats.

Thanksgiving is a holiday that has not necessarily generated many all-time classics, as there are far more films set over the course of the Halloween season or during Christmastime. Halloween means that horror movie fans have a wealth of options to choose from each year, and there are plenty of all-time classics set during Christmas, such as Its A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, Eyes Wide Shut, Love Actually, Home Alone, Die Hard, and White Christmas among many others.

The film starts with the real Santa (J.K. Simmons) posing as a mall Santa in Philadelphia, accompanied by his trusted bodyguard/head of security, Callum (Dwayne Johnson). Being a child star can be deeply challenging. There are a lot of elements to both acting and fame that can be too much to handle for developing minds, not to mention that being on set all the time leads to a very different childhood than the average kid. There's a reason why quite a few child stars end up having "normal" jobs as adults — fame is a seriously tough mistress. So, it's really not a huge surprise when child stars disappear from the limelight as adults, but in the case of young actor Mara Wilson, it did seem a little shocking. After all, at just nine years old she was fast becoming one of the biggest stars in Hollywood as the titular character in "Matilda" and it seemed like she could have whatever career she wanted as an actor. However, after making the critically panned "Thomas and the Magic Railroad" in 2000 opposite Alex Baldwin,...

The late Richard Attenborough is an unquestioned legend. Largely known for his roles on screen in films like "The Great Escape" and "Miracle on 34th Street," he perhaps doesn't get enough credit for his work as a director. His finest hour came in 1982 when he stepped into the director's chair for "Gandhi." The biopic about the Indian revolutionary Mahatma Gandhi went on to sweep the Academy Awards that year, culminating in a Best Picture win. It's the realization of a dream few filmmakers will ever know. Be that as it may, Attenborough believed a Steven Spielberg classic should have taken home the prize that year.
Released the same year, Spielberg's "E.T." was an acclaimed box office juggernaut and ultimately took in nearly $800 million worldwide. It was also up for Best Picture that year, with Spielberg and Attenborough competing for Best Director.

Imagine if Halle Berry told you the world just ended, and now you have to live out in the woods. Also you have to stay in Halle Berry’s house or else an evil force will get you. Also if you do leave, you have to be tied to Halle Berry’s house by a rope or else — again — the evil will get you. Also only Halle Berry can see the evil. Oh, and the protective power of Halle Berry’s house has to be recharged like a battery, and recharged with your love, so she’s going to have to repeatedly lock you in the cellar with the lights off until you give off the right vibes.
That’s the premise of Alexandre Aja’s horror thriller “Never Let Go,” and if you think about it, it’s a pretty kooky way to tell a story about faith. Scary...

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently made his grand return to wrestling with the WWE, but the star might be taking his "heel" persona a little too far these days.
There's absolutely nothing unusual in Hollywood when it comes to the delicate art of managing high-profile egos -- just ask Vin Diesel, who knows all too well from his days bumping heads with his famous co-star during the "Fast and Furious" saga -- but things seem to have escalated to a whole new level on the set of Amazon Studios' upcoming Christmas film "Red One." That's the latest scuttlebutt according to extensive reporting by Umberto Gonzalez of The Wrap, who paints an alarming picture of habitual lateness, deeply unprofessional behavior, and producing inexperience in several crucial roles. All of these factors seem to have come together to turn what was initially envisioned as a straight-to-streaming original and a potential franchise starter...
