From Streams to Screams: 36 Bloodthirsty Vampire & Werewolf Movies You Can Stream This Halloween Season
Happy October, readers! I mean, I know it technically isn’t October quite yet, but let’s be honest: we’re all ready for Halloween, so it might as well be October already. One of my favorite things about this time of year is that it gives me a good excuse to watch as many horror movies as I can over the next 31 days.

These days, we have a variety of options to watch genre movies beyond our own home media collections, so over the next few weeks, I’ll be posting a series of themed streaming lists that should undoubtedly scratch any sort of cinematic itch you might be having this Halloween. To get things started, here’s a look at all the vampire and werewolf-themed films you can find on various streaming platforms out there—some are free services (Vudu and Tubi TV), and some are paid services,...

March 12th Blu-ray & DVD Releases Include The Craft Collector’s Edition, Kolobos Special Edition, Man’S Best Friend, Piercing
With March in full swing, we have another big batch of horror headed home this week that genre fans should keep an eye out for, including one of my most anticipated releases of the month: Scream Factory’s Collector’s Edition of The Craft (so excited to call the corners with this new Blu-ray!). Beyond that, we have even more great titles to get excited about, including the criminally underseen Kolobos from Arrow Video, Man’s Best Friend, featuring one of my favorites—Ally Sheedy—and Nicolas Pesce’s Piercing, which features some brilliant performances from the likes of Mia Wasikowska and Christopher Abbott.

Other Blu-ray and DVD releases for March 12th include Garden Party Massacre, She Wolf, The Greasy Strangler: Special Director’s Edition, Lifechanger, Silk Scream, and The Wild Pussycat.

The Craft: Collector’s Edition (Scream Factory, Blu-ray)

Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Convention is Gearing Up for an Incredible 15th Year this August
One of my very favorite horror conventions has always been Flashback Weekend in Chicago, Illinois. For years, I attended Flashback as a fan and for the last six years, it’s been a huge honor for me to head back to serve as one of the convention co-hosts and work with Mike and Mia Kerz, two of the most selfless folks you’ll ever meet working in the industry.

Flashback Weekend will be celebrating its 15th anniversary this August 5th through the 7th and is being held at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare (5440 N. River Road, Chicago). This year’s schedule is shaping up to be yet another incredible time for midwestern horror fans, and there are still many announcements to come! So far, attendees can look forward to a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Scream, with a cast reunion featuring Neve Campbell, Skeet Ulrich, and Matthew Lillard.

Cherry Tree Review
Witchcraft captures an obscure subgenre of horror that’s rarely represented through similar methods (look at such varying titles as All Cheerleaders Die/The Witch/Lords Of Salem). Halloween imagery always includes green-faced, cackling witches, broomsticks and all, but films tend to focus more on their cultish behavior.

Ireland’s latest genre effort, Cherry Tree, is another such film about dark magic and satanic worship, yet even with Clive-Barker-inspired visuals, these deceiving looks are hollow to the core. It’s as terrifying as something like The Moth Diaries or Embrace Of The Vampire, which of course means there’s no terror at all – just centipedes, witches, and a fixation on cherries that’ll have your empty tummy rumbling in dissatisfaction.

Naomi Battrick stars as Faith, a misunderstood loner who struggles with her social status. Matters only worsen when she learns that her already ailing father, Sean (Sam Hazeldine), has received...

Grave Halloween Review
Mmmm, can you smell it in the air? Pumpkin-flavored-everything, that crisp fall breeze and fresh apple pie – it’s October alright. Along with those distinctive fall treats comes a never-ending shipment of horror movies waiting to be reviewed, with Grave Halloween being my inaugural kickoff of what purists deem the official horror movie season. Coming to you from the producer of Embrace Of The Vampire (ugh) and the director of I Spit On Your Grave 2 (double ugh), this SyFy original (Ahhh) was picked up for reasons unknown by Anchor Bay, almost a full year after its silver screen premiere. If you find yourself wandering around the “Suicide Forest,” don’t say I didn’t warn you – and watch out for evil Geisha ghosts!

Kaitlyn Leeb plays Maiko, a girl looking to uncover the truth about her mother’s suicide. Accompanied by some of her filmmaker friends, who obviously record the adventure documentary-style,...

10 Child Actors Who Reinvented Themselves With Very Adult Roles
TriStar Pictures

There comes a time in every teenage actor’s life when they begin to feel the burning desire to change things up. They have a certain image as a child star, and even though they’re no longer the gap-toothed 9-year-old they once were, that’s still how people see them. Once you have that kind of an identity, it’s really difficult to break away from it. That’s why there are so many stories about child actors who, for whatever reason, are unable to launch an adult career. We all loved Haley Joel Osment when he was an adorable ten year old who could see ghosts, but as adult? That was hard for us to adjust to. (Although he is just starting to find consistent work again, with his appearance in The Spoils of Babylon paving the way, so props to him.)

Interestingly enough, the path...

Fright Night 2: New Blood Review
Ok, wait, so I’m confused. For all intents and purposes, Fright Night 2: New Blood is billing itself as a sequel to 2011′s Fright Night remake starring Anton Yelchin and Colin Farrell, yet it has absolutely nothing to do with the previous project. None of the cast returned, the suburban story isn’t referenced in the least – in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Fright Night 2: New Blood is a spiritual remake all on its own, starting anew with familiar characters thanks to screenwriter Matt Venne. All the characters are named exactly the same, “Evil” Ed yet again starts in human form, Amy is back as Charley’s love interest – the only true change is that Gerri is now a female vampire played by the sultry Jamie Murray.

Unfortunately, Edurdo Rodriguez’s “sequel” is the worst kind of sequel – because it isn’t a sequel at all. Fright Night 2: New Blood...

30 Most Memorable Nude Scenes in Movies
Mena Suvari, Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Natasha Lyonne, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Seann William Scott, and Eddie Kaye Thomas in American Pie (1999)
Nude scenes.

Some years ago, Entertainment Weekly did a story about the effect nude scenes had on a generation of young people growing up in the 80s. At its core was the idea that, unlike today, where you can just press a button and see boobs and butts any time you want, it used to be a lot harder to see that most 'holy of holies'.

There was a time when some of the scenes on this list were all that we had! As time has gone on, even with the proliferation of ways to see nudity, a really good nude scene still manages to get our hearts (and other things) racing. Even here in 2013.

So feast your eyes on (maybe not the best, or greatest but...) the Top 30 Most Memorable Nude Scenes in motion picture history over the past couple of decades. Sorry ladies, this list is quite male specific.

The successful career paths of 7 Hollywood child stars
Odd List Np Horton 3 Apr 2013 - 05:30

With the arrival of Spring Breakers imminent, Nick looks at seven former child stars who've gone on to enjoy film careers as grown-ups...

Making a name for yourself while young is definitely an appealing way to get into the acting business, for pushy parents and wannabe stars alike. The pros are obvious – fame and fortune at a young age, established links with the industry, and an early chance to make your mark. But for many, being a child star is the only thing they know, and once adulthood comes around, there goes the career.

Options can become limited once you’ve gone past your cute sell by date (just ask Macaulay Culkin), so is it any wonder that Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson have decided to explode their child star image by starring in boundary pushing and very adult Spring Breakers?...

'Embrace of the Vampire' Remake Appears Headed to DVD Obscurity
I doubt the failure of another remake will end Hollywood's continual pirating of previous films. But we can hope that studios will look at the probable diminished returns of the upcoming Embrace of the Vampire remake and realize a film's cult status isn't linked to the amount of gore and nudity on the screen.

Well, that's not necessarily true for Embrace of the Vampire, because the nudity in that film was a selling point — but it wasn't the just the nudity, as plenty of direct-to-vhs movies of the '90s contained copious amounts of that. The main reason Embrace generated sales of $15 million upon hitting the video market is that it starred a 23-year-old Alyssa Milano.

Milano's career took off at the age of 10, when she starred opposite Tony Danza in the oddly successful sitcom Who's the Boss? Growing up on television and donning the teen idol mantle can lead...

Embrace of the Vampire Begins Shooting; We Pour Out a 40oz for Alyssa Milano's Knockers
There were two very good reasons to watch the original Embrace of the Vampire, and they're both missing from the remake. Will another buxom beauty step up to the plate to fill those huge voids? We'll find out soon enough because the flick is shooting now.

According to Variety, Alan Mruvka's Filmology Labs Entertainment is teaming with Grobman-Campbell Films to produce a remake of Embrace of the Vampire, the 1994 cult pic starring Alyssa Milano that was produced by Mruvka.

The erotic thriller is being financed by Lisa Hansen and Paul Herzberg of Cinetel Films along with Anchor Bay Entertainment, which is a division of Starz Media. Like a supernatural Fifty Shades of Grey, the story follows a virginal college student who is introduced to a dark world of carnal desires after being seduced by a handsome vampire.

Sharon Hinnendael, who starred in Adam Rifkin's Showtime series "Look" and...

When sleazy werewolf Mickey (Martin Kemp) is accidentally killed in a strip club, the girls who work there have until the next full moon before his bloodthirsty wolfpack seeks murderous retribution.

The cast features Steven Berkoff (Children of Dune, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo); Freddy Krueger star Robert Englund; Lysette Anthony (Krull, Dark Shadows, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, Dr Jekyll and Ms Hyde, Tale of The Mummy); plus Sarah Douglas (Kryptonian baddie Ursa in the original Superman films, Stargate Sg-1, Bablyon 5), glamour...

Remake of Embrace Of The Vampire on the way without topless Alyssa Milano
Dread Central reports that a remake is in the works for Embrace Of The Vampire, the cult hit screencaps of a topless Alyssa Milano that also come from a movie or something. CineTel Films—producers of that recent, execrable update of the similarly exploitative I Spit On Your Grave—have reportedly begun developing a “modern spin” on Anne Goursaud’s 1995 story of a chaste college girl who escapes into erotic fantasies involving a brooding vampire, fantasies that involve repeatedly taking off her top so that everyone forgets she starred in those “Teen Steam” videos and is a woman now ...

Embrace of the Vampire Remake on its Way Minus Alyssa Milano's Knockers
1995's Embrace of the Vampire is not a very good movie, but it is famous for one thing (or should we say two things?) - it exposed Alyssa Milano's rack to the entire world for the first time. Hell, that's a good enough reason for a remake, no?

Word has come in that CineTel Films, the company behind the remake of I Spit on Your Grave, is in pre-production on yet another reboot - Embrace of the Vampire, a modern spin on Anne Goursaud's 1995 flick which starred the aforementioned very nude Alyssa Milano.

There's no word on a director or cast just yet, but one has to wonder, will this flick's selling point be the exposure of another famous chick? If so, who do you want to lecherously ogle?

Synopsis

Charlotte is a timid and sheltered girl trying to forget her past. But she'll soon discover that her...

Is Someone Remaking Embrace of the Vampire?
When Embrace of the Vampire came out in 1995, it was sort of a big deal.  That is, if you were a guy eager to see Alyssa Milano get naughty and nude in a vampire thriller.  Those who lived in my apartment complex in college passed around a battered VHS copy and when it landed in my living room, a few of us watched it.  And, naturally, it was awful.

Milano starred as a college freshman who is seduced by a vampire and introduced to "carnal desires."

Martin Kemp starred along with Rebecca Ferratti.  Now, is it the latest horror film to get the remake treatment?

Embrace of the Vampire sequel?
Remember the sensual looking cover to the Alyssa Milano-starring Dtv Embrace of the Vampire? It was the first time we saw the little Who’s the Boss? starlet in something ver sexy. Now, the sexy cult classic is getting a sequel soon, says scream queen Christa Campbell.

“We’re gonna hopefully shoot in October. You know, I love doing it. I still love acting, but I do everything. So you know…there’s always that where when you start creating your own projects, too, you’re open to act in them as well! So I’ve been working on Embrace of the Vampire, and we’re writing the script right now. Embrace was a huge cult success,” she tells Bloody Disgusting.

“We’re gonna keep the same storyline, because I don’t think…it’s a remake, it’s not a sequel. So we wanna keep the same storyline,...

Creating the Perfect ‘Twilight’ Valentine’s Day
Turning your Valentine’s Day into a “Twilight-themed” date may not be the most original concept in the universe. Coupling the year’s designated day for romantics with the biggest fictional romance of the 2000s has been commonplace since the first book.

However, Valentine’s Day by its very nature isn’t unique. Everyone is expected to buy sweetheart gifts, chocolates, flowers, candy, champagne, crotchless undies, etc. on the same day.

You may as well embrace the tawdriness of the holiday. It’s more fun to dive head-first into it, rather than overthink it and stand on the sidelines, pointing out its flaws — you know, like critics do with “Twilight.”

Clothing

The great thing about vampires is they look awesome in outfits most people can never wear well. Capes, velvet, white satin, red contact lenses, black period garb, large silver amulets and long flowing coats all look better on vampires...

House On Straw Hill remake ready to roll
Producer Jonathan Sothcott gave Fango the scoop that his long-mooted remake of the 1976 British chiller The House On Straw Hill (a.k.a. EXPOSÉ) is set to roll March 23 in East England. Actor (Waxwork II, Embrace Of The Vampire) turned filmmaker Martin Kemp (pictured below) scripted the film and is directing, with Sothcott producing via his Black and Blue Films.

The story concerns a best-selling author named Paula Martin who’s suffering writer’s block on her latest book, and goes to an old house in the country to get her creative juices flowing again. Paula requests her agent to send her an assistant, who turns out to be a young woman named Linda. At first the two get along great—but then Linda becomes manipulative, then violent, then homicidal.

“The confirmed cast includes Jane March from The Lover and Color Of Night, British TV actress Anna Brecon, Jennifer Matter,...

Vinnie Jones? Post apocalyptic? Zombies? It's Devil's Playground
Andrew Gunn will be directing Devil's Playground based on a script by Bart Ruspoli (an actor in Band of Brothers and Rome) and the film will be produced by Jonathan Sothcott who clearly has the most experience out of the three. Even as such, some big names are attached: Did I say Vinnie Jones? This'll be the second post apocalyptic film he's in by my count, the first being Tooth & Nail. Here's what producer Sothcott had to say about the film:

”Starring Vinnie (Midnight Meat Train) Jones, Danny (Severance) Dyer, Tamer (The Ferryman) Hassan, Martin (Embrace Of The Vampire) Kemp, Jemima Rooper, Billy Murray and Lisa (Pumpkinhead: Ashes To Ashes) McAllister, Devil’S Playground details the plight of the last remnants of a civilization destroyed by an all-out zombie armageddon, following the misguided experiments of a presumed-dead Nobel Prize-winning virologist. In a bid for survival, a group of survivors seek...

Producer talks UK zombie flick Devil’S Playground & more
British producer Jonathan Sothcott got in touch with Fango to tip us off to a couple of genre projects he’s attached to. The first is Devil’S Playground, which is slated to begin production in London in late January with Andrew Gunn on board as director.

“The script is by Band Of Brothers and Rome actor Bart Ruspoli, and is something pretty special,” Sothcott tells us. “It takes everything you want in a balls-to-the-wall zombie film and structures it into a high-concept thriller.
