Clerks

FAQ

There are 3 different versions. The theatrical version, the First Cut and the Clerks X-edition.

Kevin Smith was on a very limited budget for the film. Since he shot the movie in a store using fluorescent lightning, he was told by his DP that shooting under such lights would result in green coloured tinting on the characters on the processing of the film. The solution would have to buy a proper lightning rig that would cost Kevin around $2000, which he could not afford. His DP suggested that shooting black & white would be the cheapest solution to fix the problem.

Leonardo, New Jersey, where the Quick Stop store is still located and open and a couple other areas within the state of New Jersey.
