No reviews at all? That's a shame and it seems yet another gem will be buried under the heavy weight of time and newer (yet, not better) material.
Unapologetic cop drama... this one follows the jaded and worn out detective Charlie Resnick. In a refreshing change of what we're used to, there's nothing eccentric or unusual about this copper. He's just a normal man perhaps desensitized by the appalling cases he's presided over yet still sensitive to the pain of child victims.
There's the normal drama of cops being cops and flirtations that turn into something else, etc... but they are well managed and thougtfully screened. This series was made for grown ups.
A tightly directed story and an excellent script (by the author of the book) elevates this above other cop dramas of its time.... and I can't help wondering why there were only two stories filmed.
Even today, (2018) 26 years on, this is still very watchable. If it ever comes out on DVD you won't be disappointed. My VHS copy will have to do me for now!
