For us heathens that brandish figurative razor blade-endowed flat caps stateside as (un)official members of the Peaky Blinders crew, it’s been a particularly strenuous month or so. Season 4 of Steven Knight’s addictive gangster drama has been airing new episodes weekly in Europe since November 15th. Considering the manner in which season 3 concluded, international employees of Shelby Company Ltd have been suffering through their own form of detox, desperately resisting spoilers each passing Wednesday.
Thankfully, Netflix will provide the fix by releasing all six episodes of season 4 on December 21st. It’s a largely meaningless conciliation for enthusiasts, no doubt, as the entirety of season 4 will have already premiered overseas by that time, but I digress.
For those needing a refresher – in the waning moments of season 3, the Shelby family were celebrating their triumph over the Russians inside Tommy’s office while he distributed the spoils of the Blinders’ latest victory amongst them.

It's so convenient when a historical serial killer's real-life purple prose is just as over-the-top and divaish as everything else on American Horror Story: Coven. The Axeman's murder spree terrorized New Orleans from 1918 to 1919 – and when he first wrote, "I am not a human being, but a spirit. A demon," I groaned. Not a ghost murderer! Haven't we done this before? Plus, a ghost using a typewriter must be the most pretentious turd burglar I can imagine. Get over yourself, dude. Was Axe body spray named after this guy? I mean,...

This week's gonzo teen nightmare Spring Breakers is trumpeting the fact that two of its leads - Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez - traditionally play "good girls". But the whole "teen idol gone bad" strategy is a longstanding Hollywood tradition aimed to help transition pigeonholed teen stars into "serious" actors.
Here are a few fellas who tried the tactic, to varying degrees of success.
Jonathan Taylor Thomas in Speedway Junky
The squeaky-clean kid from Home Improvement took a step toward tarnishing his image by playing an evil, bisexual hooker in this gritty drama, giving a whole new meaning to "Tool Time"!
Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Mysterious Skin
Jgl also went the hustler route for his breakout from small-screen teen stardom - only the 3rd Rock star went "the full gay" in this unsettling and excellent indie drama.
Lukas Haas in Johns

The best Workaholics are often the ones that pit the boys against each other, and when you have Adam on one side and Blake and Ders on the other, it's really not a contest: Adam Demamp/Adam Devine is going to steal the show. This week, the boys completely butcher a coworker's wake all in the name of Swedish vagina, and neither comes out on top when it turns out that not a single person in the office gives an ounce of a fuck about their dead partner. The best quotes below:

"You know how I am with girls! I'm like a bull in a vagina shop!"
"Mr. Nate Dogg? Are you there?"
"Judy. Show me your breasts."
"Quit trying to make everybody happy so you can get physical with these sexy foreigners!"
"You look like a professional skating celebrity. The Swedish chicks will dig that.

New York — On Saturday when "Saturday Night Live" goes, well, live, Katy Perry will be the lady of the night. The pop singer is currently in rehearsals for her hosting gig, and despite some butterflies, she has in her corner someone who really understands the responsibilities of hosting helping her out from afar: her husband, comedian Russell Brand.
"I've only ever hosted, like, dinner parties and birthday parties. This is a bit more than that," she joked on set with MTV News. "It's not as intimidating when you get here because it's a bit smaller than it looks on TV, and I'm up for a challenge, for something new. I love...

Ghost Rider is blazing a trail back into theaters in 2012, and this time he's going to have a new foe to go up against. "Limitless" star Johnny Whitworth will be playing Blackout, a foil to Nicolas Cage's Ghost Rider who has some interesting demonic powers of his own. But don't expect Blackout to be especially similar to his incarnation in the "Ghost Rider" comic books.
MTV News caught up with "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor to chat about the upcoming movie, and they admitted that they took a few creative liberties with Blackout's character.
"We didn't really honestly do a lot of research into the comic book version of Blackout," Taylor admitted. "We kind of just took the visual of him and went from there."
But just because they didn't do a lot of research into the character's history doesn't mean he won't fit into their mythology.

It’s a well-worn observation that the book is better than the movie. But what about the graphic novel? It seems reasonable to expect the transition from one predominantly visual medium to another to be smoother. It was pleasing to see Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis gain wider attention through the animated film adaptation she directed in 2007 with Vincent Paronnaud. While fun, that film still had nowhere near the impact of the original.
Satrapi recently paired up with Paronnaud again to direct a film adaptation of her shorter graphic work, Chicken with Plums (Poulet aux Prunes, 2011), this time using predominantly live-action rather than animation. Mathieu Amalric stars as Nasser-Ali, a violinist who decides it’s time to die when his beloved violin is broken. Neither his wife, his two young children, nor his brother can dissuade him. On his elective deathbed, Nasser-Ali recalls his past, above all his doomed relationship with the beautiful Irâne.

DreamWorks' How To Train Your Dragon returns to the top of the box office, as Kick-Ass doesn't quite match box office hopes and expectations in the Us...
While it's not exactly unusual, it's also pretty rare. A movie that was third place last week has somehow climbed to the top this week. A month into its release schedule, and DreamWorks' How To Train Your Dragon has made it to number one at the box office. It didn't do it on its opening weekend, yet, through very strong performances week after week, Dragon has finally flown to the peaks of Box Officedom. Huzzah! The flick picked up a strong $20 million this weekend.
Meanwhile, to steal a pun from the trailer, Kick-Ass was more like Ass-Kick. The long awaited geek-friendly superhero send-up flick, based on the hit comic book, turned out to be not so much of a hit. It's a good performance,...
