For Meredith Markworth-Pollack, Linda Tripp (Sarah Paulson) proved to be the hardest character to design costumes for on the FX limited series, “Impeachment: American Crime Story.” “She was almost six feet, which is very tall for a woman and she had these very broad shoulders and so I think that was the hardest part of the project,” she tells Gold Derby during our recent webchat (watch the exclusive video interview above). She also described how it was more than just a padding that gave Paulson the look of the character. “It was really about changing her whole demeanor because if you’re that tall and your shoulders are like this, you have a presence whether you want to or not.”
“Impeachment,” which can currently be streamed on FX on Hulu, explores the affair between President Bill Clinton (Clive Owen) and White House intern Monica Lewinsky (Beanie Feldstein), how Tripp taped...

Netflix is continuing the mother-daughter journey of Ginny & Georgia, renewing the polarizing dramedy for a 10-episode Season 2. Watch the announcement video below.
In the wake of Season 1’s launch on Feb. 24, the series found itself on the receiving end of a spate of negative press concerning what many view as the show’s tone-deaf discussion of race, not to mention a certain Taylor Swift-skewering joke that has driven a wedge between the pop superstar and the streamer.

First, there were the drafts of tweets that went unsent. Then there were the profanity-laced text messages to trusted friends. Finally, there were nerve-calming cooking videos on YouTube. Making some sense of the sadness and confusion I felt in the wake of the Morgan Wallen video took time. The disappointing revelation that country’s hottest new star had been caught on camera using a racist slur was quickly followed by the joyful coming out of Brothers Osborne frontman T.J. Osborne, stirring up even more emotions. As a country-music fan from...

Oscar winner and multiple Emmy winner Cloris Leachman, best remembered as the delightfully neurotic Phyllis Lindstrom on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and her own subsequent sitcom, died of natural causes on Tuesday in Encinitas, Calif. She was 94.
“It’s been my privilege to work with Cloris Leachman, one of the most fearless actresses of our time,” her longtime manager Juliet Green said. “There was no one like Cloris. With a single look she had the ability to break your heart or make you laugh ’till the tears ran down your face. You never knew what Cloris was going to say or do and that unpredictable quality was part of her unparalleled magic.”
The daffy, self-absorbed Phyllis, a character she claimed was close to her own persona, brought the actress two Emmys as a featured actress in a series during the mid-’70s and made Leachman a household name.

Once in a blue moon, a super sugary sweet movie comes along from Disney that screams the Mouse House.
In 2007, that movie was Enchanted with Amy Adams.
This year, it’s Godmothered with Jillian Bell and Isla Fisher, debuting on Disney+ for the whole world to bask in its joy.
Bell stars as Eleanor, who seems to be the only Fairy Godmother left in her community who believes they shouldn’t be demoted to the Tooth Fairy.
She still dresses in beautiful pink and carries her wand like an Englishman carrying tea. Eleanor has faith. Yet Moira (Jane Curtin) sees the writing on the wall.
The world in 2020 doesn’t need Godmothers, and her training facility is simply wasting its time and must close soon.
Refusing to believe that, Eleanor finds a Godmother wish from Mackenzie (Fisher) in a dusty old library and takes it upon herself to prove that these magical,...

The Chicks — the band formerly known as The Dixie Chicks — weighed a few names before it agreed to drop the Southern reference “Dixie” from the band name, including some names like “Men” and “Puss ‘n Boots.”
If you’re wondering how in the world the band got from Dixie Chicks to “Men,” the band explained to Stephen Colbert on Thursday that the name is an acronym for their initials, Martie [Erwin], Emily [Strayer] and Natalie [Maines]. And names like “Puss ‘n Boots” or “Wooly Puddin'” would’ve been a throwback to some old “alter egos” the band once used, but another band already shared that name. You wouldn’t want another Lady A situation.
The band also addressed why it felt now was the time to change the band name.

The Chicks’ first new album in 14 years, Gaslighter, is out Friday (July 17th). Ahead of the release, the group formerly known as the Dixie Chicks performed “March March” on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
Inspired by the 2018 March for Our Lives youth protest against gun violence, the protest song feels just as relevant today as it did two years ago, and the Chicks inject that same tension, anger and yearning for change into their performance.

Call them the Artists Former Formerly Known as Dixie Chicks. The veteran multiplatinum country act said today that the band has dropped the Confederate-era part of their name and henceforth will be known as The Chicks.
The group also released a new protest song today called “March March” — watch the video below.
Natalie Maines and sisters Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire, who formed their group in 1989, are following the lead of fellow country trio Lady A, which two weeks ago changed its name from Lady Antebellum amid nationwide protests against systemic racism in the United States and the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. The word “antebellum” refers to the pre-Civil War slavery era.
While the Chicks members didn’t make a public statement for their name change, the band’s relaunched website notes, “We want to meet this moment.” And little needs to be said about how “Dixie” plays to many these days.

Through the lens of social distancing and quarantines, Jonathan Wilson’s new album, Dixie Blur, released March 6th, seems made for this moment. It’s a bittersweet, nostalgic record that recalls both a time and a place that’s impossible to revisit. For Wilson specifically, that’s his native Thomasville, North Carolina, but the message is universal: You can’t go home again.
“I went back to North Carolina not too long ago, to my hometown, and took some footage for a video,” says Wilson a few days before the LP’s release.

Exclusive: Daredevil alum Wilson Bethel is set as a series regular in CBS’ legal drama pilot Courthouse, from writer Greg Spottiswood (Remedy) and Warner Bros. TV.
Written and executive produced by Canadian writer Spottiswood and directed by Mike Robin, Courthouse is a show that pulls back the curtain on the court system. It follows the dedicated, chaotic, hopeful, and sometimes absurd lives of the judges, assistant district attorneys, and public defenders as they work with bailiffs, clerks, cops and jurors to bring justice to the people of Los Angeles.
Bethel will play Mark, a roguish, highly successful Deputy District Attorney whose best friend and colleague Lola (Tbd) has been just been appointed a judge. Never great with boundaries, Mark struggles with the personal and professional changes in their relationship.
He joins previously cast series regular Jessica Camacho.
Len Goldstein and Robin also executive produce. Warner Bros. TV is the studio.

The CW has released the first image of its newest superhero, Black Lightning, played by Heart of Dixie's Cress Williams, and it's hard not to get excited by both the picture and the premise of the pilot. Jefferson Pierce (Williams) is the dad of two daughters who used to save the world as the superhero black lightning. He has since hung up the suit, but now that one daughter is hell-bent on justice and the other is a star student being recruited by a local gang, he puts the suit back on and gets pulled into the fight. Monterey Media has acquired all U.S. and Canadian rights to "The Pardon," a true crime drama based on the story of the only woman ever executed in the state of Louisiana. The film stars Jaime King ("Sin City: A Dame To Kill For," "Heart of Dixie") and Oscar-nominee John Hawkes ("Winter's Bone," "The Sessions"). The film's official synopsis reads: "Surviving a legacy of childhood abuse, which lands her in the art deco brothels of the time, Toni Jo Henry (King) briefly discovers love and happiness when she marries the dashing boxer Cowboy Henry (Jason Lewis). Cowboy is soon after sent to prison, leaving the bereft Toni Jo to embark on an ill-fated mission with Cowboy's sometime partner Arkie (John Hawkes). A grisly murder and a series of sensational trials where she pleads her innocence instantly makes the beautiful Toni Jo into a celebrity. "I was fascinated when filmmaker Tom Anton brought us this lovingly.

Say it ain't so! The CW announced which shows will not be coming back next year ... and there are definitely a few shockers. "Sex and the City" prequel "The Carrie Diaries" was just axed after two seasons on the air, and newbies like "The Tomorrow People" and "Star Crossed" were canceled, too. While each of the now-extinct shows had solid fan bases, it wasn't all bad news at the teen-friendly network. "Heart of Dixie," "Beauty and the Beast" and "The 100" were picked up for one more season. Earlier this year, the network revealed that hits like "The Vampire Diaries," "The Originals," "Reign," "Supernatural" and "Arrow" would each be back as well. Are you shocked by the cancellation news? Check out the gallery above to see which shows from ABC, Fox, NBC and CBS won't be coming back either! Read more...

Paramount Pictures and director Alan Taylor have official cast Jai Courtney in the role of Kyle Reese in Terminator: Genesis. He wasn't my top choice for the part, but it's not surprising that they gave it to him. Other actors up for the role included Boyd Holbrook (The Host), Tom Cocquerel, Wilson Bethel (Heart of Dixie), and Sam Reid (Hatfields and McCoys).
Courtney will join Arnold Schwarzenegger, Game Of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, and Zero Dark Thirty’s Jason Clarke as her son, John Connor.
The this is the first film in what is supposed to be a new trilogy, and it will end the story James Cameron started about Skynet’s battle with the resistance.

Thanks to Variety we now have a list of actor who are up for the part of Kyle Reese, who was played by Michael Biehn in the original film, and by Anton Yelchin in Terminator Salvation. The CW has never been shy about its love for music, especially the tunes of the current musical sensations. Whether they’re Top 40 hits or indie artists just getting their start, the CW is willing to sneak them into its many dramas. It’s been a successful little trick that’s helped get the names of several up-and-comers out– One Tree Hill in particular is guilty of playing music by relatively unknown artists – and Hart of Dixie has proved game to play along. We’ve seen The Head and the Heart on the show, as well as American Idol alum Scotty McCreery and country trio Gloriana. Now Hart of Dixie is giving the spotlight to The Voice winner Danielle Bradbery.
According to THR, Bradery will have a cameo in Season 3, wherein she will be performing her debut single, the magnificently titled “The Heart of Dixie.” Makes you wonder how she got the job,...

The TV Land comedy pilot Jennifer Falls has cast Jaime Pressly for its lead role, TVLine reports. The pilot follows a businesswoman who loses her job after losing control of her temper and moves in with her mother. I just hope the script has better punchlines than I Hate My Teenage Daughter.
Starz has cancelled Magic City. First Boss, now Magic City. I wonder if this will be the last time Starz quickly orders a second season of a series, only to cancel it after that second season airs.
Maybe if Magic City included a little male nudity to go with all that female nudity…...
