- Numerous references to Glory (1989) and music score used for key scenes. The soldier training spoofs the training in Glory (1989), the pre-battle discussion between Detective Mandy and Jerry Jabba is based on pre-battle reflections between Col. Robert Gould Shaw and Private Trip prior to the attack on Fort Wagner, and Mandy's selfless charge onto the battlefield to motivate his troops to break cover spoofs Col. Shaw's doing so, including Detective Dave taking up Mandy's machete, being gunned down and falling onto Mandy's body, as Private Trip does when Shaw is killed. This is all followed by an emotional, but disastrous charge by the resistance soldiers, in the same way the 54th Massachusetts Regiment does so after Col. Shaw and Private Trip are killed in Glory (1989).
