Bryce Dion, 38, of Boston, the audio supervisor for COPS was killed via "friendly fire" during filming of an episode with a shootout in Omaha, Nebraska (Omaha Police Department) August 2014.
Was bought during the 1988 writers strike when Fox was starting to run low on new content.
For filming, there are just two crew members: a cameraman who just hold and records with the handheld camera, and a sound man who records sounds by holding a boom mic. The cameraman & sound man are armed with nothing more than bulletproof vests.

Cameramen and sound mixers, although they're police trained, are instructed to maintain a fly on the wall position and not assist officers unless the safety of the officers requires assistance from them.
