Image
In the Tracker Season 2 finale, Colter Shaw confronts Otto Waldron (played by Seal Team’s Alex Fernandez), a mysterious lineman who reveals that, yes, he pushed Ashton Shaw off that cliff more than 20 years ago. But that’s only the beginning of this story.

Otto then tells Colter that his mother Mary (recurring guest star Wendy Crewson) asked for his help that night. Help with what, exactly, remains a question mark at the end of the hour. Did she instruct Otto to kill her husband? Or did the situation escalate beyond anyone’s expectations?

Watson Star Morris Chestnut Reveals How He Went from a Young College Kid to Sherlock Holmes’s Best Friend
Image
There have been many conversations surrounding the CBS series Watson, with many feeling it doesn’t live up to the medical dramas that came before it.

However, after watching the entire season, I can confidently say that you’re missing out if you’re not watching.

Watson has an incredibly compelling story and boasts a cast of talented and charming actors who give their all to the series.

(Sergei Bachlakov/CBS)

And Watson’s lead, Morris Chestnut, was kind enough to sit down with TV Fanatic and discuss how he went from starting in acting to the tumultuous conclusion of Watson Season 1.

With such a prolific career in film and television, having starred in iconic movies and shows like Boyz in the Hood and Rosewood, and even a role on my favorite show of all time, Living Single, what drew you to acting? Was there a moment when you said this was for me?...

'Bone Tomahawk' Star David Arquette Reflects on the Brutal Horror Western's Continued Popularity
Image
In an entertainment climate where western content seems to red-hot, who can forget the Kurt Russell gem Bone Tomahawk? It's hard to believe this year marks the 10th anniversary of the western horror film's release. And it featured quite the ensemble alongside Russell, including Patrick Wilson (Insidious), the late Sid Haig (a Rob Zombie regular) and David Arquette. MovieWeb recently caught up with Arquette amid the release of his police drama film Mob Cops, and the beloved Scream actor also took time to reflect on his experience shooting Bone Tomahawk alongside the other big names. Arquette told us:

"Working with Sid Haig was just such a honor because he's such an incredible, legendary actor. And that may have been his last film, so just feel really blessed to have met him and worked with him. And then Kurt Russell, I mean, we did 3,000 Miles to Graceland together, and then to...

'Goodfellas' Star & Real Gangster Comes to Life in 'Mob Cops'
Image
It's often hard to nail down just which of Oscar-winner Martin Scorsese's films is his absolute best. Some say it's GoodFellas, whose stars are still keeping busy in Hollywood today. One of the supporting players, the late Louis Eppolito — aka "Fat Andy" — would go on to star in other films after a career in real-life law enforcement. And as it turns out, he was convicted for having actual ties to the mob, making his GoodFellas appearance all the more ironic. His wild story is the inspiration for Mob Cops, out now, and MovieWeb recently caught up with Jeremy Luke, the actor who portrays Eppolito in Lionsgate's new film.

Luke recalled a scene from Mob Cops where he found himself utterly channeling Eppolito's moment of on-screen glory from an entirely separate gangster movie. "I was in the Chinese restaurant, I go, 'How you doing?' And I grabbed the glass — because this character,...

David Arquette Supports New 'Scream 7' Director
Image
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Scream 3lead character Dewey Riley — played by David Arquette — shooting Ghostface in the head and killing him once and for all. That is, until a pair of hooligans took on the mask for Scream 4 years later. The fourth installment brought Arquette back as Dewey, as did another Scream in the years following, until the fan-favorite ex-deputy was finally killed by a more recent iteration of the infamous Ghostface. Or was he? Deadline has confirmed that Arquette will return to star in Scream 7, due to release in 2026, and MovieWeb recently caught up with the longtime actor to learn more about his experiences in the films over the years — and what he thinks about Kevin Williamson taking the reins as director of the upcoming installment.

"I love Kevin, and for him to be able to direct one of the Scream movies is so cool and a wonderful opportunity,...

7 TV Shows Like ‘The Pitt’ That Take Place in Real Time
Image
One of the reasons “The Pitt” is so terrific is because it plays out in real time. It’s not the first show to use the immersive storytelling approach, so if you’re craving more real-time rushes like the HBO hit delivers, these shows should fit the bill.

Start with the save-the-world spying heroics of Jack Bauer in “24,” binge Netflix’s nail-biting true crime series “Adolescence,” and maybe catch up with a few TV series like “Grey’s Anatomy” that used the ticking clock device in one memorable episode.

Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub in “24” (Credit: Fox) 24

“Events take place in real time,” Kiefer Sutherland told us in his trademark rasp at the start of every episode of this action-packed series that played out in one day over each season. (Back when TV seasons used to have 24 episodes.) He played Counter Terrorist Unit Jack Bauer for 9 seasons and the 2008 follow-up film “24: Redemption,...

Panic Fest 2025 Review: The Lost Episode, Found Footage Cops
Image
It's always funny when a movie has a clear reference point but can't afford the rights to directly reference it. The Lost Episode opens with on screen text informing us that what we're about to watch was originally recorded on Halloween 2004 "for use in a popular police reality show" and later on, when one of the two leads is asked what's with all the cameras he says it's for "a reality tv show." But there's no doubt that we're watching a riff on Cops from the moment we're dropped into the footage that's ostensibly been gifted to the world by a torrent release group. Two officers, Paul Massaro (Benjamin Sutherland) and Terrence Williams (Anthony Grant), narrate to camera and sound people seated in the...

'Homicide: Life on the Streets' Led to 'Law & Order' and 'The Wire'
Image
Brought to life by David Simon and based on his book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets, The Wire is one of the most critically acclaimed police procedural dramas of the modern era. However, before The Wire came to fruition, Simon was involved with a similar procedural based in Baltimore, Homicide: Life on the Street. Airing from 1993 to 1999, Homicide: Life on the Street was one of a few procedural dramas that gained notable popularity among critics and audiences, along with Law & Order and NYPD Blue. Early seasons featured a cast that included Yaphett Kotto, Andre Braugher, Melissa Leo, Ned Beatty, and Daniel Baldwin. Significantly, it would be the first appearance of John Munch, portrayed by Richard Belzer, who would go on to resurrect the character in Law and Order: Svu years later.

Homicide: Life on the Street utilized handheld cameras, which was common on shows like Cops and...

Netflix Began 2025 with 3 Great Police Thrillers
Image
Netflix is hitting the ground running in 2025, especially for lovers of police dramas and crime thrillers. While watching shows and movies that are dubbed over or require closed captions can be a turn-off for some English-speaking viewers, Netflix has inspired more subtitle-friendly audiences thanks to its many great international series. The following examples are proof that anyone who is still avoiding subbed or dubbed shows might be missing out on some of the best stories of the year.

A nice change of pace from the typical American police procedural, The Åre Murders successfully tackles the Nordic noir genre; Public Disorder acts as a commentary on current sociopolitical tension in Italy; and the French film Squad 36 is a respectable addition to the cops-and-car-chases plots that audiences are oh-so fond of. All three of these projects bring something fresh to well-worn narratives.

Shrek's New Look in 'Shrek 5' Isn't Actually That Bad

Quick LinksShrek's 2020s Makeover for 'Shrek 5'The Positive Side of Shrek's Redesign

Animation lovers, rejoice! Shrek is coming back to the big screens in late 2026. This DreamWorks franchise is easily one of the most popular animated properties of this century. So a new film should have united fans both young and old, right? Right? Not exactly, as all anyone can talk about online is the new design of the characters in Shrek 5. It's difficult to define just what exactly is upsetting fans, but it mostly boils down to Shrek looking "different."

This redesign isn't that unexpected, as it's been nearly 16 years since the last Shrek movie. CGI animation has improved in that time, with DreamWorks utilizing new technological methods. It's also been a full 25 years since the inaugural Shrek film, released when CGI was in its infancy. Each of the three subsequent films preserved most of the designs...

Fox Was About to Kill a Classic ‘Simpsons’ Episode Until All the Censors Were Fired
Image
Like any network TV show, The Simpsons has butted heads with standards and practices on more than one occasion. For example, Fox’s censors apparently weren’t thrilled about the episode that began with a Fox censor being brutally stabbed to death.

But in 1997, the censors objected to the entire premise of a show for the most regressive of reasons.

Season Eight’s “Homer’s Phobia” found Homer befriending an antique dealer voiced by the legendary John Waters. But Homer freaks out when he realizes that his new pal is gay. He eventually learns to accept John, but only after being saved from a pack of bloodthirsty reindeer by John’s robotic Santa Claus.

While it may be considered a classic episode today, “Homer’s Phobia” came shockingly close to never airing because the network censors “tried to kill it.” As legendary Simpsons producer and showrunner Bill Oakley revealed on the episode’s DVD commentary,...

The NCIS Character Everyone Forgets Yellowstone's Taylor Sheridan Played
Image
Before he was writing half the shows on Paramount+, Taylor Sheridan was an actor. The man behind shows like "Yellowstone" and "Tulsa King" and the scripts for films including "Sicario" and "Hell or High Water" cut his teeth with screen work, a pastime he occasionally returns to when he needs someone to play, say, a cool cowboy who's dating Bella Hadid.

Years before he became known as a Hollywood cowboy, I knew Sheridan as a mysterious man named Danny Boyd in the plucky teen detective show "Veronica Mars," and as the hate-worthy cop Deputy David Hale on FX's "Sons of Anarchy." Those may have been two of Sheridan's most high-profile TV roles, but they're far from his only acting credits. He's had bit parts going all the way back to "Walker, Texas Ranger" in 1995, and can be seen in one-off roles in shows like "CSI," "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,...

Fox Nation’s Plan to Infiltrate Hollywood: Passion Projects, Not Politics
Image
Don’t let the name fool you.

Fox Nation shares a Manhattan headquarters with Fox News Channel, but it doesn’t aspire to occupy the same niche as its conservative-tilted cable parent. Rather, the subscription streaming service has enlisted big Hollywood names to provide programming aimed at attracting its Gen X-focused audience.

Kevin Costner, Martin Scorsese, Rob Lowe and Kelsey Grammer have all made shows for Fox Nation in recent years. Jason Klarman, Fox News Media’s chief digital and marketing officer, said the platform has attracted top talent because there is in fact “nothing political” about their Fox Nation projects.

Of course, there is some political content on the service too, drawing upon Fox News’ resources and profile. Conservative activist Riley Gaines and commentator Tomi Lahren are both featured talent on the streamer. But Fox Nation wants to carve out its own space, one that isn’t wholly aligned...

When Walt was diagnosed with cancer, he teamed up with a former student and began cooking meth so that he could leave some money for his family if he passed away. While Walt was working toward distributing his meth, he met Saul Goodman, a criminal lawyer who networked with others that could help with Walt's expanding empire.

The Traitors Fans React To Survivor Legend Tony Vlachos’ Early Exit
Image
Since Survivor premiered in the year 2000, the show has featured some incredible seasons and a lot of drama like medical evacuations. Even new fans of Jeff Probst's beloved reality show who are figuring out which seasons to watch first will know that the best seasons feature the most respected players in the show's history. Thankfully for fans of The Traitors, several of Survivor's best players have gone on that show, including some who joined the third season's cast.

Similar to other Survivor legends who competed in The Traitors, Tony Vlachos went on the show with big hopes. However, Tony didn't get to enjoy Alan's incredible work hosting the show for long, since he flopped even worse than Parvati Shallow did. With that in mind, it is fascinating to see how fans have reacted to Tony's early exit.

My Little Eye (2002) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Image
This is the fictional story of five strangers picked to live in a house and have their lives taped to find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting murdered… My Little Eye. And if you haven’t seen this one, it’s the Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.

Reality shows are nearly unavoidable these days, but back in the ‘90s they were still rare. Aside from MTV’s The Real World and episodes of Cops, we hadn’t been exposed to much reality programming yet. And when word started leaking out about the development of shows like Big Brother and Survivor, they sounded odd. A little twisted, potentially dangerous. Big Brother was offering the chance to watch its contestants on 24/7 live streams. Survivor was taking its contestants out to isolated locations and leaving them to provide basic survival necessities for themselves. While the concept of Big Brother just seemed weird,...

“Only if it has a negative impact on the character”: ‘Freaks and Geeks’ Beat Censorship With 1 Deal That Only Happens in America
Image
Freaks and Geeks nails the awkwardness of teen life so well that it delivers the best “first time getting high” episode ever on TV. What’s even more impressive is that it pulls this off while also being a surprisingly low-key anti-drug episode.

Freaks and Geeks. Source: NBC

The show expertly balances humor with heart, skillfully working its way through the tricky waters of censorship. All thanks to the clever writing that the show manages to address such a sensitive topic without getting preachy. Here’s how Freaks and Geeks beat the system while offering a realistic, unforgettable look at life.

How Paul Feig’s Freaks and Geeks Tricked the Censors

In its early days, Paul Feig thought Freaks and Geeks to be “like an HBO show”, raw, honest, and full of the things he saw in high school, swearing, pot smoking, and all things ugly.

This week’s episode, airing on Fox Nation, takes us on a ride-along through three distinct cities: Wichita, […]

Bones & Sleepy Hollow's Crossover Episodes Explained (Which Ones To Watch)
Image
The concept of crossovers is almost as old as TV itself. It's a good idea that can boost the viewership of two (or more!) shows, bringing audiences together and exposing them to another series they might like. Some crossovers are quite seamless and logical, such as the ones involving the Arrowverse and "CSI" franchises. Others are plain weird, like the time "Mr. Robot" met Alf or when "The X-Files" crossed over with the reality show "Cops" (or even the one time the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fought alongside the Power Rangers).

Another crossover that definitely belongs to the latter category is that one time "Bones" crossed over with "Sleepy Hollow," a rather unexpected event yet also one that felt like a full circle moment, seeing as both properties were already connected (in a way). Indeed, the main makeup design technicians on "Bones" were Chris Yagher and his brother Kevin Yagher,...

The Conners: 10 Best Episodes, Ranked
Image
There are many great episodes of The Conners, but the Roseanne spinoffs best outings combine relatable family comedy and working-class drama perfectly. The Conners has a large cast of characters, but this didnt make the shows job any easier when the series debuted in 2018. After Roseannes original lead actor Roseanne Barr was fired from the shows 2017 revival due to racist remarks, The Conners was tasked with continuing the story of Roseanne without the shows title character. This seemed impossible, since Barr's heroine was central to both the sitcoms original run and its revival.

Related I Cannot Believe How The Conners Season 6 Ended One Roseanne Character's Story

Since The Conners season 6 seemed like it was setting up a major Roseanne character's death, I was totally shocked by where the show went instead.

However, the existence of 2024s upcoming The Conners season 7 proves that the series managed to pull off this unenviable job.

Terror on Tape: 6 Excellent Found Footage Episodes of Television
Image
I’ve always found it strange how Found Footage appears more frequently in film than in television. If you think about it, most of the recovered footage that we see in real life comes from True Crime TV and investigative journalism rather than movies – or at least it used to before the internet turned the whole world into one giant Found Footage horror flick streaming live until the end of time.

Despite this, there were actually quite a few big-name TV shows that recognized the storytelling potential of the Found Footage format and decided to experiment with Pov filmmaking during their run. And in honor of these small screen pioneers, today we’d like to highlight six excellent Found Footage episodes of non-Found-Footage TV shows.

For the purposes of this list, we’ll be focusing on traditionally shot (or animated) programs that only temporarily fooled around with Found Footage – so...

Every Meta Supernatural Episode, Ranked
Image
Through 15 seasons on The CW, Supernatural indulged itself in some fourth-wall breaking meta storytelling. It's always a risk for a television series to acknowledge it's a show. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles always made it work because of their commitment to playing Sam and Dean Winchester honestly. No matter how meta Supernatural got, the actors and writers found clever ways to make those episodes feel authentic.

Through Chuck Shurley (who was eventually revealed to be God), Supernatural perfected the meta episode by creating a proxy for the fandom in the series. Series creator Erick Kripke and the producers who followed created the ideal narrative device to have direct conversations with the fandom. From sending up conventions to the problematic slash fiction that fans write about the Winchester brothers, the fans were represented. Ironically, Supernatural's episodes "Meta Fiction" and "Slash Fiction" aren't actually self-aware. However, the meta episodes on this...

Aaron Stanford Confirms Pyro's Return in Deadpool & Wolverine Tied to X2
Image
This story contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine.

Deadpool & Wolverine brought back several familiar faces to the MCU. While the existence of variants tends to complicate things, Aaron Stanford recently confirmed that Pyro is the same exact character that appeared in the original X-Men movies.

Speaking to ComicBook, Stanford explained his approach to playing Pyro again after so many years. "I just took it as a continuation but again, with an adjustment for tone," he said. "Basically, what I did was reach back and think this was the Pyro from X-Men 2. The idea behind that character was that he was a young, disaffected, and outcast kid who becomes radicalized. He becomes a radicalized terrorist and we see that journey. I took that interesting, complete portrait and then adjusted it for the Deadpool universe and the given circumstances of that world."

Jamie Kellner, TV executive who launched Fox & WB, dies at 77
Image

Jamie Kellner, one of the most-influential broadcast television executives of the late 20th century who oversaw the development and launch of two upstart networks, died last Friday at the age of 77. The cause of death was attributed to cancer.

Kellner served as the first President and Chief Operating Officer at the Fox Broadcast Network in the mid-1980s, orchestrating the build-out of Fox’s programming slate and helping it secure distribution on over-the-air stations in key markets and cable platforms in hard-to-reach corners of the country.

Kellner helped champion programming like “In Living Color,” “Married…with Children,” “21 Jump Street” and “The Simpsons” and “Cops,” which help set the tone for American television across two decades. He left Fox for the WB Network in 1993, which operated as a joint venture between Warner Bros Television and Tribune Broadcasting.
