Anne of Avonlea

For the cow scene in which Anne and Diana fall into the mud, the costume department made four dresses. However, Megan Follows did the stunt in one take, and the others were not needed.

When Anne and Gilbert race to the bridge and he falls in, he comes out all wet. Moments later, when they encounter Fred and Diana, he is dry.

The 2011 wide-screen 'Restoration Edition' DVD uses alternate, outtake footage not seen in the original 1987 film. The first 30 minute reel of 'Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel' had a very deep negative scratch in the emulsion layer of the film. This accident occurred during the creation of a 35mm theatrical negative in the early 90s, damaging the first reel beyond repair. This meant each shot in the first reel had to be completely rebuilt from a variety of sources. In some cases, each frame of the film had to be completely Photoshopped in order to repair it, particularly during sequences where action was passing across the screen. In some cases, director Kevin Sullivan determined that the damage was too significant, so scenes were reconstructed using outtakes. Second and third takes were used.
