Stars: Angela Cela, Charles Chudabala, Nicole Cinaglia , Sheri Davis, Marcella Di Pasquale, Jessica Cameron, Felissa Rose, Jennifer Nangle, Sadie Katz, Alan Maxson, Dave Sheridan, Vernon Wells, Noel Jason Scott, Maria Shapley | Written and Directed by Michael Hurst
Directed by Michael J. When looked at from the outside, the premises of the first two "Bill & Ted" movies are baffling. In the first film, the title characters (Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves) are a pair of slacker California dudes who are more interested in their band than in studying high school history. Randomly, a visitor from the future (George Carlin) appears in a high-tech, time-traveling phone booth and announces to Bill and Ted that their band will not only become successful, but that their music will become so profound as to unite humanity and usher in a new utopia. In order to form their band, however, they will have to pass an upcoming history exam and stay in school. The Carlin character gives them the phone booth, and they travel through time, viewing history in person through their particular slacker lens. In the sequel, Bill and Ted die and traverse the afterlife...

Amazon Women on the Moon
Blu ray
Kino Lorber

Cinematography by Daniel Pearl

Mark Twain said “If you don’t like the weather in New England now, just wait a few minutes.” That applies just as well to 1987’s Amazon Women on the Moon, John Landis’s unofficial sequel to Kentucky Fried Movie and the bastard child of Joe Dante and Jon Davison’s The Movie Orgy. Like those back-handed tributes to the disreputable entertainments of our youth, Amazon Women is a smorgasbord of comedy skits, some served up just right and others pretty half-baked—but a judicious use of the remote control and patience rewards; overall the result is a good-natured vacation for the mind with three or four laugh-out-loud vaudeville sequences and a couple of bona-fide short-form classics. A 7th-grade boy is in the ICU after being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, just six months after he donated his hair to benefit children with cancer.
Torrin Breneman, 12, spent three years growing out his locks after learning about cancer in his fourth-grade class. In March, after enduring bullying and being called a girl by strangers, he donated his long hair to Wigs for Kids—a charity that provides no-cost wigs to children going through cancer therapy or other medical issues.
But at the end of September, just six months after his donation, doctors discovered Torrin had developed stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Legendary writer-director John Landis can be a divisive figure, but when it comes to ‘monster movies,’ his expertise is beyond reproach. Not only is he a world authority on the subject, but he also has a long-standing professional association with Universal, which is currently building its Dark Universe around monster movie remakes and re-imaginings. So, when John Landis says these films are disrespectful to their monsters, it’s time to sit up and take notice.
In his younger days, Landis worked his way up from the 20th Century Fox mailroom to become a director in his own right – making his debut in 1973 with Schlock, which was an homage to ‘monster movies.’ His long association with Universal began in 1978, with National Lampoon’s Animal House, and went on to include titles such as The Blues Brothers, Into The Night, Amazon Women On The Moon, Blues Brothers 2000 and An American Werewolf In London.

Actress, writer, and advocate Carrie Fisher passed away after a heart attack at the age of 60, and just one day later, on Dec. 28, her mother, legendary Hollywood actress Debbie Reynolds, also passed away after suffering a stroke. Debbie was rushed to La's Cedar-Sinai Hospital after complaints of trouble breathing. After her passing, her son and Carrie's brother, Todd Fisher, confirmed that she was "now with Carrie" and "we're all heartbroken." He added that his sister's death "was too much" for the 84-year-old Singin' in the Rain star. Projects participated in the Nordic festival’s works in progress event.
Ruben Ostlund got buyers and festival programmers hopping with excitement in Goteborg as he presented the first footage from his forthcoming fifth feature The Square during the festival’s work in progress pitches.
Ostlund screened about seven minutes from one scene of the new film, during which a controversial performance artist (played by Terry Notary) makes guests at a black-tie art gala very uncomfortable. “You know I love awkward situations,” the director said.
Goteborg’s audience of industry experts commented that they were impressed by the confidence of the unnerving scene, which showed Ostlund working on a bigger scale even than his last hit, Force Majeure.
At a festival session later for the public, Ostlund previewed a second clip from the film, in which a museum director (Claes Bang) delivers a self-centered video apology to a boy he had accused of being a thief.

The Chimera Brigade, so far, has been a little schizophrenic in that it has consistently been gorgeous to look at, but lacking anything of substance in terms of consistent story and plot when scrutinised too closely. There are plenty of fine ideas floating around, ones that a writer like Alan Moore could hit several home runs with, but focusing those characters and stories into a coherent story seems to be a struggle for Lehman and Colin, the co-writers. A major problem is that it is too ‘busy’, literally bursting at the seams with characters and scenarios, but not doing justice to any.
Last issue saw a lot of pieces being put into position, with The Eye, George Spad, and Dr Severac (known as The Broken Man) playing the major roles. The Radium Institute ( who seem to be the good guys,...

Talk at the event was dominated by the looming introduction of the Finnish tax incentive; Beta boards The Unknown Soldier.
The works-in-progress jury at this year’s Finnish Film Affair (Sept 20-22) has split the $3,300 (€3000) Best Pitch prize between two films, Dome Karukoski’s Tom Of Finland, about the gay artist Touko Laaksonen, and documentary Post Punk Disorder, co-directors Jukka Kärkkäinen and J-p Passi’s sequel to their 2012 SXSW audience award winner The Punk Syndrome.
The event was dominated by discussions on two forthcoming landmarks - the films comprising part of the Finland 100 celebrations, marking the centenary since Finland declared itself independent, and the proposed film incentive, due to be rubber-stamped by parliament in December, which will deliver a 20-25% cash rebate to films in production in Finland.
The rebate would apply to productions with a budget of more than $2.2m (€2m) euros. The current average budget in Finland is close to $1.7m (€1.5m). It will apply...

Stop me if you’ve heard this idea for a movie: Dean Martin gets miniaturized and injected into the body of Jerry Lewis.
That’s the pitch for Joe Dante’s 1987 film Innerspace, his last collaboration with producer Steven Spielberg until making Small Soldiers for DreamWorks in 1998. Made between his contributions to the outrageous 1986 anthology comedy Amazon Women on the Moon and his darkly comic 1989 movie The ’Burbs, Innerspace could be considered Joe Dante’s most commercial film. Not only did it carry the Spielberg brand, it was also cast with big stars (Dennis Quaid, Martin Short, and Meg Ryan) and boasted impressive, state-of-the-art special effects and a high concept that was sure to bring people out to the theater. And yet, for some reason, the movie was something of a box office disappointment when it was released in the summer of 1987; though the film’s final budget is difficult to pin down,...

[Guest authors Christopher Lombardo and Jeff Kirschner of Really Awful Movies share their diagnosis of healthcare horror movies with Daily Dead readers.] When the Us was overhauling its healthcare system, much to-do was made about so-called “death panels,” government committees who would decide who lives and dies based on asset allocation. As far as healthcare horrors are concerned, it turns out that playing God is very real, but luckily only in film and Sarah Palin’s fright-filled imagination. Nefarious nurses, murderous docs, and psychopathic hallway stalkers in horror movies have effectively put end-of-life issues at the forefront, but not in a way that can be reasonably debated: your life, their ending of it.
We’ve decided to weigh in on the healthcare hullabaloo by looking at fictional settings that make One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest look like the height of patient-centered thinking. So sit back and self-medicate with whatever’s in the fridge (or better still, the medicine cabinet) and take these seven healthcare horrors—but don’t call us in the morning.

The key to a successful universe is balance – something proven to be the case in both fact and fiction – on the page, and on the screen. Everything has its opposite, and you cannot have one without the other. There can be no good without evil, no light without darkness, and no heroes without villains. Thus, we have Suicide Squad – DC’s antidote to its morally conscientious Justice League, and the largely criminal yin to that overwhelmingly valiant yang.
The first version of Suicide Squad appeared in the comic The Brave And The Bold #25 in 1959, and at one point became known as Task Force X. The concept was rebooted by John Ostrander in Legends #3 in 1987, however, and while the first incarnation was created to replace the outgoing Justice League Of America, the rebooted version was based on the idea that an anti-hero team made up mostly of supervillains incarcerated in Belle...

Arizona Robbins isn’t leaving Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital anytime soon. According to TVLine, who first reported the news yesterday, Jessica Capshaw, who plays the character on Grey’s Anatomy, has struck a new deal with ABC after her contracted expired back in May. What’s most interesting, though, is that this new contract is reportedly for three years, meaning that Capshaw will remain on the series throughout the 2017-18 TV season (and thus the show’s upcoming twelfth and possibly thirteenth and fourteenth seasons), even though, at this point, Grey’s Anatomy has only been renewed for Season 12, which will being airing this fall and end in the spring of 2016. The news of Capshaw’s new contract is coming out just as ABC readies to renegotiate with many of her castmates, including Sara Ramirez, who plays Callie Torres, Arizona’s on-again-off-again wife/love interest. Before long, he had progressed to directing and had a hit with his 1978 horror flick "Piranha". His deft ability to make audiences cringe as well as laugh became his trademark. More successful films followed including a segment of the "Twilight Zone" feature film, his werewolf classic "The Howling", "Gremlins", which is considered a classic by the generation who saw it as children, "Innerspace", "Amazon Women on the Moon", "The 'Burbs", "Matinee" and "Small Soldiers". The following contains spoilers from Nashville‘s Season 3 finale. (Because it would be a terrible recap if it didn’t.)
Nashville‘s fourth season needs to get here, Stat.

They would remain friends in the ensuing years.[1] Wright spent most of the last decade of her life in Connecticut, making only sporadic public appearances. In 1998, she could be seen with her grandson, film producer Jonah Smith, at New York's Yankee Stadium, where she threw the ceremonial first pitch.[2] Wright also became involved in the Greater New York chapter of the Als Association. (The Pride of the Yankees subject, Lou Gehrig, died of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in 1941.) The week she turned 82 in October 2000, Wright attended the 20th anniversary celebration of Somewhere in Time, where she posed for pictures with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. In March 2003, she was a guest at the 75th Academy Awards, in the segment showcasing Oscar-winning actors of the past. Two years later,...
