Sex & Nudity

Mild
70 of 170 found this mild
There is a brief sex-related use of "turned on".
When the family sees the leg lamp, Ralphie touches it suggestively.
A man has a lamp stand that is shaped in the form of a woman's leg wearing a fishnet legging and a high heel, and the movie's narrator references it as..."electric sex gleaming in the window."
There are some mild references throughout the movie.

Violence & Gore

Mild
70 of 97 found this mild
A boy is shown with a black eye after a playground run-in with two bullies.
There's a scene where a boy is fighting another boy for bullying him. The fight is intense, and the boy is seen his nosebleed. Moderate blood.
When Mrs. Parker talks with Mrs. Schwartz over the phone to identify the latter's son as the source of where Ralphie picked up the F-word, the woman from the other end of the phone is heard spanking her son - presumably with the receiver while he screams.
Ralphie daydreams about himself killing bad guys with a BB gun by shooting them in the butt.
In some scenes boys have an encounter with a bully who twists their arms behind their backs, making them scream. At one point, the main character snaps and pushes the bully to the ground and starts punching him until his nose bleeds.
A dog's ear is caught in a door.
A cooked duck is served for dinner near the end, and its head is chopped off.

Profanity

Mild
67 of 127 found this mild
The main character saying the "f word" is a major plot point in one scene. However, it is never actually heard, given that he actually says "oh, fudge!" on screen and the narrator refers to what he actually said as the "f dash dash dash" word.
Very mild profanity through out the film. And nothing too strong.
Ralphie says son of a bitch.
One use of "for Christ's sake".
The father and a few boys say "hell", "son of a bitch", "damn", and "smart ass". The father does a lot worse cursing, and the fact that he does so is a significant plot point. It should be noted that most of his cursing is heard as nonsense.
A boy shouts numerous Yosemite Sam-like obscenities while beating up a bully.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Mild
59 of 101 found this mild
The parents have a glass of wine in one scene. The father offers some to his son but his mother says he can't have any.
One brief moment when the boy spits (tobacco, presumably) during a western daydream.
Delivery man is seen smoking a cigar.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

None
57 of 106 found this to have none
A young boy anxiously hides in a cupboard because he thinks his brother will be severely punished by their father for beating up a bully. When his mother finds him there, he is crying and shouts "Daddy's gonna kill Ralphie!" However, his mother calmly assures him that will not happen. When she tells her husband about what happened, she states "Ralphie had a fight" without specifying how far he went.
A woman puts a bar of soap in her son's mouth as punishment for using profanity. The boy dreams of becoming blind, fearing the possible negative consequences of having soap in his mouth.
Santa and his elves are mean to the kids. The elves shout things like "C'mon kid, you're holding up the line!" and "Hurry up, the store's closing!" while forcibly pulling the kids forward. Santa pushes a boy down a slide with his boot.
None/Moderate for neurodivergent viewers.
Some criminals are shown to be convulsing getting shot.
A bully throws a snowball at the main character who is clearly miserable.
Pretty bold/adventurous movie.
Very grumpy workers as elves aggressively pull kids towards Santa, In Ralphie's POV this is unsettling.
A dream sequence features the adults in the child protagonist's life mocking him and chanting, "You'll shoot your eye out." The boy's teacher is dressed as a witch.
There are two bullies who torment the main character, his brother and friends (twisting their arms, throwing snowballs, shoving etc)
