Alternate versions

The US version is heavily cut. UK EMI release was somewhat cut.

The uncut version, which includes scenes that advance the plot, is included on the Australian DVD release from Big Sky Video. It is labeled as an "Extended Cut". The DVD also includes the edited version, labeled as the "Main Feature". All other DVD releases such as those in the UK and the US only contain the edited version.

The 2008 UK Optimum DVD contains both prints of the film.

A 4:3 version - meaning with MORE image top and bottom - also exists. Writing and such often continues into this area, indicating that the movie may have been originally intended for this aspect.

The 86-minute cut of the movie adds the opening of Alan Price's "Time and Tide" to the opening titles while the song starts at the end when Snitter is beginning to lose hope. In the 103-minute version, the song isn't heard over the opening titles and doesn't start until Rowf & Snitter disappear from view.

The edited, U.S. version has a runtime of 1h 25m (85 min), even when it sometimes is labeled at the full runtime of 1h 43m (103 min).
