Goofs

For a cat that's just been blasted out of a second-story window by a shotgun, and suffered massive blood-loss, the leopard's body is remarkably undamaged prior to the necropsy.

When Paul attacks Irena (at around 50 mins) he tears her top. The tear is large and almost extends to her navel. Subsequently, when Irena removes her jacket at Oliver's place (at around 56 mins), her top is intact.

Paul juggles with three balls. He throws the yellow one to Irena. She catches a blue one. Then he throws the yellow ball a second time.

In the scene where Alice introduces herself to Irena in the zoo's gift shop, Irena's hair has a perm that's not seen in any scene before or afterward.

When the panther in the hooker's room finally falls asleep after being tranquillized, an overhead view of the room clearly shows a mattress blocking the door. In the next scene when Yates enters the room, there is nothing impeding him from opening the door.

The straw in Irena's glass disappears and reappears between shots when she is in the bar with Alice. This may not be a goof because at the end of the scene, you see Irena holding the straw between her hands, which suggests that she has been playing with it throughout the scene.

In the leopard necropsy, where a drugged live animal is used, the paws and tongue of the supposedly dead cat can be seen twitching, and it can be seen taking shallow breaths.

Mountain lions are much more easily trained than black leopards, so cougars dyed black were used in close-up scenes when interacting with people. This is most noticeable when Paul transforms and attacks Oliver in his room.

When Irena and Alice are in the bar, the ice in their drinks does not float, nor is there any condensation on the glasses, which probably indicates that "prop ice" is being used.

The sound of the panther's loud roar is actually that of a lion.

Obvious Product Placement: 30 seconds after seeing Paul taking a picture of Billie using a Nikon camera whose name was clearly visible, we see Oliver taking Irena's picture using a camera with gaffer's tape obviously covering the brand name of Oliver's camera.

While Ruthie, the hooker, was screaming "Somebody! Somebody help me!" while crawling down the stairs after being attacked by the leopard, her lips weren't moving. This is most likely due to the vocals being dubbed in from one of the 20 other takes of the scene insisted upon by the director.

During the leopard autopsy scene, when Oliver is moving the "dead" cat from the wheeled cart to the autopsy table, he lets the cat's head bump down a little hard onto the metal table. Off camera you can hear someone say, "Easy!" as an admonishment to be more careful with the cat. This is most apparent in the DVD version, and is undetectable in the 2017 release of the Collector's Edition Blu-Ray.

Two motorcycle police officers crash their bikes when Irene transforms for the first time and wanders into the street. Their helmets have the jurisdiction logo on the front blacked out.

It is never explained how Paul is able to leave the zoo at will, but when Oliver and Alice return to shoot Paul after he kills Joe, the gate to the cage is not locked, so Paul must have opened it from the inside after he transformed.

When Joe uses the electric prod, it has a wrist strap attached. Then he has his arm torn off when the big cat grabs the prod. Even in the unenlightened 1980's, no trained animal handler would ever have a tool tethered to their body. Anyone with any real experience with dangerous animals knows that to have any such tool attached to them would allow the animal to grab the item, and thus themselves.

None of the cops at the bridge took the opportunity to shoot Irena with their rifles until she jumped into the river, despite the obvious fact no one on the scene knew they were supposed to be waiting for the Zoo representatives to arrive.
