- Mary Lou Springer, Publisher Sweetwater Territorian: I thought your job was protecting people!
- Bret Maverick: Pappy always told me to stay clear of men who promise no regrets and here I am throwin' a rope to one.
- Bret Maverick: As my old pappy used to say, "It's a wise coyote that lets a rabbit run into his mouth" and I think Sweetwater's got room for this old coyote.
