Janis Paige, the ebullient redhead who starred in the original Broadway production of The Pajama Game and in such Hollywood musicals as Silk Stockings and Romance on the High Seas, has died. She was 101.
Paige, who was discovered in the 1940s while performing at the legendary Hollywood Canteen, died Sunday of natural causes at her home in Los Angeles, her friend Stuart Lampert announced.
Paige starred on her own network sitcom, playing a widowed nightclub singer struggling to raise her 10-year-old daughter, on the 1955-56 CBS series It’s Always Jan, and she had recurring roles as Dick van Patten’s free-spirited sister on ABC’s Eight Is Enough and as a hospital administrator on CBS’ Trapper John, M.D.
The actress also turned in two memorable guest-starring stints in 1976, playing an attractive diner waitress named Denise who tempts Archie (Carroll O’Connor) to cheat on Edith (Jean Stapleton) on All in the Family...

Following his 2015 Emmy win for the final season of “Mad Men,” Jon Hamm took a large step back from TV stardom in order to beef up his film resume with titles such as “Baby Driver,” “Richard Jewell,” and “Top Gun: Maverick.” Now that he has made a splashy return to the small screen by playing new roles on “Fargo” and “The Morning Show” and reprising one on “Good Omens,” his Emmy nominations total could instantly rise from 16 to 19. If all of his possible 2024 bids come to fruition, he will be only the fourth person and second man to ever compete for three acting Emmys at once.
Hamm’s string of recent TV acting gigs began last July when he returned for season two Prime Video’s “Good Omens” as supporting character Gabriel – a humanoid version of the biblical archangel. He then fulfilled the new role of ambitious tech billionaire Paul Marks...

The premise of the 1977 sitcom "Three's Company" -- adapted from the 1973 British series "Man About the House" -- would likely never fly in 2024. Roommates Janet (Joyce DeWitt) and Chrissy (Suzanne Somers) require a third roommate to pay rent in their expensive Santa Monica apartment. They stumble across Jack Tripper (John Ritter), an aspiring culinary student whom they get along with. It so happens, though, that the building's landlord, Mr. Roper (Normal Fell), is ultra-conservative and refuses to let unmarried men and women share his apartments. To get around this contrived contingency, Janet and Chrissy tell Mr. Roper that Jack is gay. This satisfies the landlord but opens Jack up to homophobic jibes.
Fell eventually left the series and was replaced by the high-strung Mr. Furley, played by Don Knotts. Mr. Furley, it seems, required the charade to continue. Somers also left the show in its last two seasons and was...

Betty Buckley has been staying at the Chateau Marmont for about 50 years. She first checked in when she was filming her big screen debut as gym teacher Miss Collins in “Carrie” and then when she landed the role of Abby Bradford, Dick Van Patten’s new wife and stepmother to his kids in ABC’s 1970s family comedy-drama “Eight Is Enough.”
After half a century calling the Chateau her Los Angeles home — she lives full-time at a ranch outside of Fort Worth, Texas — Buckley has a lot of stories.
“Oh, there are some wild ones,” the 76-year-old actor and singer says while nibbling on a fruit and cheese plate in the hotel’s lobby restaurant on a recent weekday afternoon. She’s in town promoting her new horror movie, “Imaginary.”

C’mon get happy! In the 1970s TV series The Partridge Family, a group of musical siblings shoot to fame thanks to a catchy single and head out on the road with their mom. The show, which aired from 1970–74, was a pop culture phenomenon and made stars out of its young cast, including David Cassidy and Susan Dey.
Sadly, life after The Partridge Family wasn’t so kind to all the show’s actors. While some had successful post-show careers in Hollywood, others struggled with personal issues. Others dropped out of the spotlight altogether. Here’s a look at The Partridge Family cast and which stars are still alive.

It's hard to picture anybody but the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's "Halloween," but she wasn't a shoe-in for the role by any means. Carpenter thought she had the right stuff on her first audition, but you must remember that at the time she was just another unproven actress in a town overflowing with unproven actresses, albeit not all of them had superstar parents like Jamie Lee.
Laurie Strode put Jamie Lee Curtis on the map, no question about it, but there was some competition for the role, and the fun part is we have to play a little guessing game to figure out who that competition was.
On the "Halloween" commentary with Carpenter and Curtis, they bring up the actress who was Jamie Lee's main competition ... but they can't remember her name!

A coroner’s investigation into the death of Adam Rich determined the Eight Is Enough child star died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl.
Rich, the former ’70s and ’80s child star best known for his page-boy haircut and role on the ABC dramedy, died five months ago, on Jan. 7, at age 54, and his body was discovered at his Los Angeles residence.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner said in its report that the death was from effects of the powerful opioid. The cause and manner of the child star’s death was ruled an accident.
Rich’s TV credits included The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, The City and 3-2-1. But he was best known for his role over five seasons on the ABC dramedy Eight Is Enough, which starred Dick Van Patten, and played Nicholas Bradford beginning at 8 years old. The show kicked off a nearly three-decade screen career for Rich.

Former Eight Is Enough child star Adam Rich’s cause of death has been ruled as an accidental fentanyl overdose after he was found dead in January at the age of 54.
The autopsy report showed that in addition to this, Rich had lorazepam and non-toxic levels of alcohol in his system when he died. The autopsy also noted that Rich’s body was in a “mild decomposition” stage.

The Andy Griffith Show actor Don Knotts had his daughter, Karen Knotts, in 1954 with his first wife, Kathryn Metz (they also had a son together named Thomas). While there was a lot of love between Don and Karen, they disagreed on one major thing when Karen was a young teen.
Don Knotts didn’t want daughter Karen to enter the world of show business
Karen thinks of Don as a “great father.” But they did disagree about one thing. Karen wanted to act for as long as she could remember. Don didn’t think that was a good idea.
”I always wanted to be an actress, even when I was young, but he said, ‘No, that’s not a good life for a child,’” she told the Murfreesboro Post in 2011.
But when Karen auditioned for drama class in junior high she “came alive.”

Nine years after he won his fourth and final acting Emmy for playing Walter White on “Breaking Bad,” Bryan Cranston has a solid shot at triumphing in the corresponding Best Drama Guest Actor category for reprising the role on the prequel series “Better Call Saul” on AMC. In fact, he has three chances to win at least his fifth acting Emmy this year since he could also earn notices for Best Movie/Limited Actor for Paramount Plus’ “Jerry and Marge Go Large” and for Best Drama Actor for Showtime’s “Your Honor.” If all three nominations come to fruition, he will be only the fourth person and second man to ever compete for three acting Emmys at once.

He wrote a book, and ABC turned it into a successful TV series of the same name. So, which Eight Is Enough cast members are still alive?

Warner Bros Discovery has finally nailed down plans to go the Fast route. Last year — in between an intense bout of cancellations and titles being pulled from their streaming home on HBO Max — the company announced plans to explore a free ad-supported television option (Fast). During the company's third-quarter earnings call, Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav made a point of saying that there's "a huge amount of content that's not even on [HBO Max/Discovery+] that's sitting with us that hasn't been put to monetize in the marketplace." In the spirit of cashing in, a new plan has been enacted. Over the next few months, 14 Warner Bros. branded Fast channels will arrive on Roku and Tubi.

To be an immigrant is to be a writer, according to Iranian-American director Maryam Keshavarz, because as immigrants “you write your own story, you decide what’s your narrative.” Her latest feature, “The Persian Version,” explores that by tapping into one of the most complex narratives of all — that of mother and daughter.
In “The Persian Version,” Iranian-American Leila (Layla Mohammadi) boldly challenges labels that society tries to project upon her while balancing and embracing her opposing cultures. When her family reunites for her father’s heart transplant, secrets and scandals are revealed that shed light on how Leila and her mother Shirin (Niousha Noor), with whom she has a complicated relationship, could be more alike than she realizes.
Keshavarz spoke with Variety about how “The Persian Version” reflects the experiences of many Iranians and immigrants overall, and how pop culture helped bridge the gap between her two worlds — Iran and America.

Now, Rich’s former on-screen brother Willie Aames, who portrayed Tommy Bradford, is paying tribute to his co-star on social media In the post, Aames starts, “This morning Winnie woke me with the heartbreaking news of Adam Rich’s passing. I’m gutted. Adam was more than a colleague. He was very much my only little brother. A lifelong friend. He continues, “These last few years Adam had dreams of renewing his career. He was one of those kid actors that our generation will always remember. I can’t tell you how many parents have told me they named their first child ‘Nicolas’ after his Eight Is Enough character. The diminishing fraternity of kids that grew up in the golden years of family television has lost another of our own.
