New Seth MacFarlane animated comedy series coming to Peacock with big stars
Image
Seth MacFarlane and Peacock appear to have a strong creative partnership, with the streaming platform teaming up once again with the Family Guy creator for a brand-new animated comedy. While MacFarlane already has his Ted live-action prequel series on Peacock, he's now set to expand his presence even more with a full-fledged Ted animated series.

While plot details are being kept secret, Ted: The Animated Series is said to be a sequel. It will continue the story after the first two Ted movies. Those hilariously funny comedy films, directed and co-written by MacFarlane, centered around the unexpected bond between a man named John Bennett and his foul-mouthed, magically sentient teddy bear, Ted. In addition to his behind-the-scenes work, MacFarlane also voiced the iconic character of Ted in the movies. He also currently voices the talking stuffed animal in the prequel series.

In this new animated Peacock show, MacFarlane will not...

Every Season Of 30 Rock, Ranked
Image
Pound for pound, "30 Rock" is one of the funniest TV shows ever made, and that's not hyperbole. If you've watched the show, you know for a fact that it's packed so densely with jokes that you might find yourself constantly rewinding episodes because you were laughing so hard at something that you completely missed five subsequent sight gags and throwaway lines. The show was created by Tina Fey, who, at that point, was best known for writing and acting on "Saturday Night Live," and ultimately, she and her co-showrunner Robert Carlock were encouraged to take her experience on "SNL" and turn it into the show that became "30 Rock." So, just in case you haven't watched it — or it's been a while — what's the general deal with "30 Rock?"

Well, Fey stars as Liz Lemon, the head writer of a frankly terrible-looking sketch show called "The Girly Show," or...

‘Saturday Night Live’ Highlights: Walton Goggins Clogs His Way into Our Hearts
Image
Walton Goggins is having a pretty phenomenal year. His much-talked about turn on “The White Lotus” has garnered him affection and disgust in equal measure, with many women around the world left wondering if they might’ve been the one to “fix him.” He also closed out a legendary four-season run as Baby Billy Freeman on “The Righteous Gemstones,” forever making “Teenjus” part of the common vernacular. Now, ahead of Emmy’s voting commencing next month, Goggins took on the penultimate episode of “SNL 50,” a special moment for him considering it was the annual Mother’s Day show as well.

To celebrate this, Goggins had his own mother join him on stage for a unique dance. After explaining how she raised him as a single parent with the assistance of his aunts and other friends, Goggins honored his mother by offering his hand and bringing her up before the audience.

What Scares TV Advertisers Most? Fears of Trump Tariffs, Sports Spending Will Drive 2025 Upfront
Image
Advertisers curious about whether to spend billions on TV commercials this year need to figure out what frightens them more — is it a fear of the unknown or a fear of missing out?

Madison Avenue is grappling with a host of question marks in the early part of 2025, and advertisers’ decisions will have a strong effect on the media industry’s annual “upfront” market, when U.S. media companies ranging from Amazon to Paramount Global try to sell the bulk of their advertising inventory.

Marketers try to line up their budgets in advance of this annual haggle, but so far, doing so is tough. It’s unclear whether President Trump’s economic policies and tariffs will dampen consumer demand. At the same time, TV networks only have so much ad space in must-buy big-audience properties like NFL games, award shows, and “Saturday Night Live.” Miss out now, and there may...

How To Watch The Best K-Dramas For Free
Image
After the enormous success of shows like "Squid Game" with international audiences, streaming services have steadily been building up their libraries of K-dramas. The common term for scripted television produced in South Korea, no matter the genre, K-dramas continue to win over viewers worldwide. And while platforms like Apple TV+ and Netflix certainly have a great selection of K-dramas to watch, there is a service where fans can legally stream Korean shows for free. In fact, the American streaming platform Rakuten Viki has consistently offered great foreign programming in its library, including an impressive array of K-dramas to check out.

To be clear, Rakuten Viki does feature a paid subscription option for those interested in an ad-free viewing experience, with a wider library and higher video quality for select programming. But the free user model offers an impressive library of K-dramas to choose from, for those looking to watch Korean...

Cecily Strong Returns to ‘SNL’ to Revive Jeanine Pirro Impersonation in Surprise Appearance
Image
Saturday Night Live recruited Strong talent for its Saturday, May 10, episode — as in Cecily Strong, making her first return to the NBC sketch comedy show since her 2022 departure. Strong’s cameo came in the episode’s cold open, as James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump said he just appointed “one of the loudest people [he knows]” as the United States attorney for the District of Columbia, Fox News star Jeanine Pirro. The live audience whooped and hollered as Strong made her entrance, impersonating Pirro as she has more than a dozen times before. “I’m so proud to be part of this group full of Russian assets, boozehounds, and people famous for the little baby animals they’ve killed,” Strong’s Pirro said. “So all you soul sisters and brothers, put the word out on the street. There’s a bad new mama jama laying down the law, getting down in Funkytown,...

Eric Idle Wants to Know Why His Beatles Parody Isn’t Available Anymore
Image
Eric Idle is best known for his work/online feuds with Monty Python, but he also produced a number of notable works outside the Python canon. One of the best and most prolific of Idle’s solo endeavors was 1978’s The Rutles: All You Need Is Cash. The Beatles parody, about Liverpool’s “Prefab Four,” was the first ever feature-length music mockumentary, predating This Is Spinal Tap by six years.

The TV movie wasn’t a huge hit originally. When it first aired on NBC, All You Need Is Cash reportedly received “the lowest ratings of any prime-time television show airing on network television that week.” But it subsequently amassed a large cult following. Even Yoko Ono was a fan, despite the fact that her Rutles surrogate was a literal Nazi.

But for some reason, the original film isn’t available on any streaming services right now. And physical home...

10 Weekend Update Jokes That Might Get Colin Jost and Michael Che Fired
Image
Forget those rumors about Colin Jost and Michael Che leaving Saturday Night Live at season’s end. If they keep it up with these censor-shattering punchlines, they might not make it to next week’s season finale.

Here are 10 Weekend Update jokes that come so close to crossing the line that somebody might be looking for a new job…

1

Jost: The Vatican has selected Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who is from the South Side of Chicago, to be the new Pope. You can tell he’s from the South Side because he’s got his hands up.

2

Che: President Trump says he will appoint Fox News host Jeanine Pirro as interim U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C. Pirro celebrated the news with a bottle of wine every day for the last 50 years.

3

Jost: When I heard the Pope was a super-religious guy from Chicago in a funny robe, I was worried it was Kanye.

‘SNL’ Weekend Update Shuts Down ‘Woke’ Pope Complaints, Trashes Trump’s Alcatraz Revival
Image
Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update addressed the election of Robert Prevost as the first American pope, and the subsequent complaints from some conservatives that the Chicago native is somehow “woke.”

Colin Jost began by admitting that, as a Catholic, he “could not be more proud.”

“Which is a sin, and now I’m ashamed,” he joked.

“The Vatican has selected Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost from the south side of Chicago to be the new pope,” Jost continued, as a photograph showed on screen of Pope Leo Xiv waving at the crowd in St.

Weekend Update Slams ‘Woke’ Pope Accusations, Jokes About Trump’s Film Tariffs and Summer Movie Season
Image
The world has taken an interest in Chicago-born Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost’s American upbringing, and so did anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che during the “Saturday Night Live” Weekend Update segment on May 10.

“I also love that conservatives are already complaining that this pope is too woke. How woke can a 69-year-old man from Chicago be? It’s not like he came out and was like, ‘Hey, I’m Pope Leo the 14th, he/him,'” Jost joked.

After bringing up the AI-generated image of President Donald Trump dressed as the leader of the Catholic Church, Che joked: “I just find it hard to believe that anyone in the Catholic Church would be into something so juvenile,” which led the crowd to erupt. Even Jost was left speechless for a moment before continuing.

Che discussed Trump’s plans to place a 100% tariff on movies made outside the U.S.

‘SNL’: Sam Rockwell Joins ‘White Lotus’ Co-Star Walton Goggins In Musical Sketch About Man With Baby Feet
Image
Tonight on Saturday Night Live, Sam Rockwell reunited with his The White Lotus co-star, Walton Goggins, for a musical sketch involving a man with baby feet.

The sketch begins when Jane Wickline walks into Central Park Zoo and discovers a small shoe sitting mysteriously abandoned.

“A tiny baby shoe, in the middle of the zoo,” Wickline sings. “I can’t keep walking. Can’t pretend I didn’t see it when I did, and it’s changing me inside.”

Wickline continues, “I just found this tiny baby shoe, put a footprint on my heart I can’t undo. Can’t throw it away. It’s not trash. A piece of my future, a part of your past. Gotta find this baby, that’s what I’ll do.”

Subsequently, she walks around the zoo looking for the child the shoe fits, only for one foot to be “too skinny,” one “too fat,...

Weekend Update’s Colin Jost Derides Right-Wing Ire At First American Pope: “There Are No Woke Catholics”
Image
Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update had its fun with the headlines this week, including the naming of the new sovereign of the Vatican City State, Pope Leo Xiv, the first American in the role.

“As an American Catholic, I could not be more proud, which is a sin, and now I’m ashamed,” co-anchor Colin Jost began.

Born Robert Prevost, Jost continued that “you can tell he’s from the South Side [of Chicago] because he’s got his hands up,” which elicited a mix of laughs and hesitant reactions from the audience.

“This pick was a welcome surprise for me because when I heard the pope was a super-religious guy from Chicago in a funny robe, I was worried it was Kanye,” he said, referencing the rapper’s recent affinity for white supremacist ideologies.

Addressing right-wing ire and assertions that the new pick is too progressive, Jost quipped, “I also...

Former Saturday Night Live cast member Cecily Strong revived her portrayal of Jeanine Pirro alongside Colin Jost as Pete Hegseth, and the pair of “old drinking buddies” celebrated their reunion.

The duo, called the “AA team” by Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson), were glad to link up again after their stints at Fox News.

“I’m so proud to be part of this group full of Russian assets, booze hounds, and people famous for the little baby animals they’ve killed,” said Pirro, whom Trump had named interim attorney for the District of Columbia.

Cecily Strong Makes Surprise Return to 'SNL' to Play Jeanine Pirro in Cold Open

Cecily Strong is back on Saturday Night Live!

The 41-year-old actress left the show in December 2022, but she made a surprise return for the latest episode to play Jeanine Pirro.

The cold open for the Mother’s Day episode on Saturday (May 10) featured Cecily reprising her Pirro impression after Donald Trump named her the acting U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C.

Pirro is a former prosecutor who became a staple on Fox News for the last couple decades. She also hosted her shows Judge Jeanine Pirro and Justice with Judge Jeanine for many years.

Cecily Strong’s surprise cameo, Second Amendment sketch, and more best moments from Walton Goggins’ ‘Saturday Night Live’ episode

Between The White Lotus, The Righteous Gemstones, and now Saturday Night Live, Walton Goggins has been taking up a lot of time on the airwaves. The two-time Emmy nominee (for Justified and Fallout) made his hosting debut May 10 on the long-running sketch series. Considering he's got a healthy amount of Emmy buzz this year for his performance on The White Lotus, adding another bid for SNL couldn't hurt. Here are the best moments from Goggins' first hosting gig, from the opening monologue to the best sketches.

Walton Goggins Uses His ‘SNL’ Monologue to Reflect on Being a Sex Symbol at 53 — Despite Some Headlines Praising His ‘Receding Hairline’
Image
“The White Lotus” star Walton Goggins began his first time hosting “Saturday Night Live” on May 10 reflecting on the internet’s particular interest in his character, Rick Hatchett. And he had the receipts to prove it.

“No spoilers, but I die. My character in ‘White Lotus’ is pretty brooding, which the internet seemed to find attractive,” Goggins said. “Some of my friends have even asked me, ‘Walton, what’s it like to become a sex symbol at 53 years old?’ And you know what, if I’m being honest, it feels fantastic.”

Goggins then proceeded to pull up media headlines as receipts, including Cosmopolitan’s article titled “Are We All Horny for Walton Goggins’s Receding Hairline?” Goggins responded by quipping: “I’ve had the same hairline since I was seven. It’s not receding, it’s holding its ground.”

After pulling up the headline “Hollywood’s Newest Heartthrob Is a Greasy,...

Cecily Strong Returns to ‘SNL’ As Wine-Spewing Jeanine Pirro
Image
Just one month after giving birth to her first daughter, Cecily Strong made her triumphant return to Saturday Night Live in the same way she left the show a few seasons back: boozing it up as Jeanine Pirro. With Donald Trump appointing Pirro as U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C. this week, Strong’s return was nearly guaranteed. And she didn’t disappoint.

Strong/Pirro immediately broke open her briefcase — er, her cozy for her Merlot-zy — and got to drinking. As the latest member of the Trump team, she raised a glass to her new coworkers: “Russian assets, booze hounds and people famous for the little baby animals they’ve killed.”

After Pirro gave a cringe-inducing toast to Chocolate City, Trump welcomed another refugee from Fox News, Pete Hegseth. Strong and James Austin Johnson were joined by Colin Jost in his suit and tie, not bothering to attempt an imitation of Hegseth,...

Walton Goggins Dedicates ‘SNL’ Opening Monologue To Mom As The Duo Dance Into His Hosting Debut
Image
In his Saturday Night Live hosting debut, The White Lotus‘ Walton Goggins brought his mom onto to the stage of Studio 8H in a sweet tribute for Mother’s Day weekend, as the duo paid homage to their roots in the honky-tonk music scene.

After moseying on down the steps, Goggins addressed the internet fervor around his character in the HBO anthology satire, saying that it “feels fantastic” to become a “sex symbol at 53 years old” — that is, until he Googled himself and saw the headlines about it.

He shouted out the following articles: Cosmopolitan‘s “Are We All Horny for Walton Goggins’s Receding Hairline?”; Slate’s “His Hair is Greasy. His Eyes Are Bulging. I Think I’m In Love” and personal “favorite” Y! Entertainment’s pickup of the same Slate article with the headline: “Hollywood’s Newest Heartthrob Is a Greasy, Depressing Little Man Whom No One Saw Coming.

Cecily Strong Makes Surprise Return as Jeanine Pirro to “Lay Down the Law” on ‘SNL’
Image
Saturday Night Live kicked off its cold open with a heartfelt Mother’s Day message that was swiftly interrupted by James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump and — in a surprise return — Cecily Strong’s Jeanine Pirro.

The former SNL castmember brought back her impression of the prosecutor-turned-Fox News host after the president announced this week that he was naming Pirro as the acting U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C.

“Jeanine will be the newest addition to my incredible team in my administration,” Johnson’s Trump said. “And what a team, Mr. President. I’m so proud to be part of this group full of Russian assets, booze hounds and people famous for the little baby animals they’ve killed,” Strong’s Pirro added.

Johnson’s Trump then bragged that he “personally picked Jeanine to be the U.S. attorney in Washington D.C.,” to which she joked, “That’s right,...

SNL Video: Cecily Strong Returns as Jeanine Pirro to Chug Wine With Donald Trump (and Spit It in Colin Jost’s Face)
Image
It must be wine o’clock: Saturday Night Live alum Cecily Strong returned to the show this week to reprise her role as Fox News host-turned-interim U.S. attorney Jeanine Pirro. (And yes, she brought a bottle of red with her.)

In this week’s cold open, James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump interrupted the cast’s sweet Mother’s Day message, shooing them off stage to ramble about the newly elected Pope Leo and his trade deals, among other things. He also crowed about appointing “one of the loudest people I know” to be the interim U.S. attorney in Washington D.

Trump Interrupts ‘SNL’ Mother’s Day Message to Talk Chicago Pope and Trade Deals as Cecily Strong Returns as Wine-Guzzling Jeanine Pirro
Image
President Trump interrupted the annual SNL “Mother’s Day Message” to talk about current events.

The show began as the Mother’s Day episode usually does, with cast members bringing their real-life mothers on and doing a bit with them. But while Kenan Thompson, Marcello Hernandez and Bowen Yang started the sketch accordingly, James Austin Johnson’s Trump dropped by to stop it cold because, as he said, he is “invading all aspects of your life.”

From there, he riffed on the new pope being from Chicago (cue a “Da Prayers” joke as a vintage “Saturday Night Live” reference).

Trump also noted that, in the worst-case scenario for Leo Xiv, he could “send J.D. back to do his thing,” alluding to the fact that the previous Catholic leader, Pope Francis, died shortly after meeting with Vice President J.D. Vance.

He also spoke about the continuing American trade woes, asking, “Can...

Cecily Strong Returns As Merlot-Spewing Jeanine Pirro In ‘Saturday Night Live’ Open That Skewers Donald Trump’s Fox News Picks
Image
Saturday Night Live opened by skewering Donald Trump’s latest choice of a Fox News personality for a top administration position.

This time, it was Jeanine Pirro, the co-host of The Five, who this week was named interim U.S. attorney. Returning to play a Merlot-loving Judge Jeanine was Cecily Strong.

Trump, played by James Austin Johnson, assures, “Jeanine will be the newest addition to my incredible team in my administration.”

“And what team, Mr. President. I am so proud to be part of this group full of Russian assets, booze hounds and people famous for the little baby animals they’ve killed,” Strong’s Pirro told him.

How Much Money Did Mad Men's Don Draper Make?
Image
The best part of watching a period-piece TV show is pulling out the old inflation calculator anytime someone mentions money. Take for instance that scene in "Mad Men" season 4 where Peggy hustles $400 out of Roger: it's a great Peggy moment regardless, but it gets better when you realize she just haggled her way into a surprise $4,000 bonus, and even crazier when you realize that Roger casually carries $4k cash with him wherever he goes.

When it comes to being up front about money, "Mad Men" is much better than most, because a lot of TV shows (contemporary or otherwise) want to keep their characters vaguely, relatably middle-class. So for a scene where someone's offered a new salary, shows will often only give us the character's reaction to the number to work with, not the number itself. "How I Met Your Mother," for instance, will have the gang talk excitedly about getting "a big fat check,...

2025's Most Romantic Horror Movie Is Killing It On Netflix's Top Charts
Image
I'll be the first to admit that, when it comes to horror movies, I'm a bit of a wimp. When I was a kid, "The Exorcist" was re-released, and the TV commercials gave me nightmares for several weeks. With that said, a movie like Josh Ruben's "Heart Eyes" is approachable even for scared little babies like me, which makes it utterly unsurprising that the movie is performing quite well on Netflix, according to FlixPatrol.

"Heart Eyes" came out on February 7, 2025 — and now that its theatrical release is finished, it's found a home on Netflix and is getting a lot of attention ... as it should! The horror-romance hybrid centers on Ally McCabe (Olivia Holt), a young woman who works for a jewelry company and, fresh off a breakup, ends up meeting consulting advertiser Jay Simmons (Mason Gooding) in a professional context ... only for sparks to quickly fly. However, things go...

The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Cooper Is Based On A Real Person
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Sheldon Cooper, one of the main characters on "The Big Bang Theory" who's played by Jim Parsons, is ... unique, to say the least. Some, including a few of his onscreen friends like Leonard and Penny Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco), might use a different word, like "difficult," "stubborn," or "impossible" (and those are just a few of the kind ones). Seriously, though — Sheldon has a decently kind heart underneath all of his intellectual superiority and bluster, though he doesn't show it very often, preferring to lambast his loved ones over their career choices, whether or not they have advanced degrees, and a whole host of other things. I say all of this to illustrate how absolutely wild it is that, apparently, Sheldon Cooper was inspired by a real person. (Also, his name was originally "Kenny," but that's another story for another time.

The Stars of ‘MADtv’ Argue About Who Made the Least Amount of Money
Image
Working on television these days doesn’t guarantee the riches you think it does, Bobby Lee said recently on his Tigerbelly podcast, hosting a reunion of some of his MADtv co-stars. “I know dudes in my life that are series regulars on a couple of shows, no one knows their name,” he said. “They don’t make any money. They make less than what we made on Mad, which was the lowest that you can make.”

What did Lee make, wondered old cohort, Mo Collins.

“In the beginning? $4,000 an episode,” Lee answered.

“What did you end up at?” Collins countered. “I’m genuinely curious.”

Lee refused to give an amount until Collins answered the same question. “Fifteen (thousand),” she said. “What did you end up at?”

“Twenty,” Lee confessed.

“Fuck my life,” Collins responded.

Debra Wilson and Aries Spears also revealed that they topped out at $15,000, making Lee the focal point of their ire.

Ted: The Animated Series to bring the foul-mouthed teddy bear to Peacock with Wahlberg and Seyfried returning
Seth MacFarlane
While Sleep Token fans are obsessed with Jerry, the Flamingo, leading up to the band’s new album, “Even in Arcadia,” Peacock is losing its stuffing for a teddy bear named Ted. Why the Sleep Token reference? What can I say? It’s timely, and I’m obsessed. Seth MacFarlane’s mega-popular Ted franchise is already dominating the live-action space with two films and a hit television series, but now it’s looking to conquer the animation arena. Peacock announced Ted: The Animated Series today, bringing the foul-mouthed teddy bear to screens like never before.

Seth MacFarlane will reprise his role as the voice of Ted for the animated series. In addition to playing Snuggle’s evil twin (not really), MacFarlane is producing all episodes with executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh (Modern Family), who also executive produced the live-action series Ted.

Ted Sequel Series With Mark Wahlberg Ordered at Peacock — But There’s a Twist
Image
Despite the massive success of 2012’s Ted and its 2015 sequel, a third movie was never a guarantee.

“You know, there hadn’t ever really been any serious talks about doing a Ted 3,” franchise creator Seth MacFarlane previously told TVLine. “After Ted 2, we weren’t sure if there was still an insatiable appetite for more Ted, and that coincided with my desire to go do The Orville. So, it kind of ceased to be a part of the conversation for a while.”

‘Ted’ Animated Series From Seth MacFarlane Set at Peacock With Mark Wahlberg Co-Starring
Image
Peacock has given a series order to “Ted: The Animated Series,” the working title for an animated spinoff of the 2012 and 2015 live-action comedy film franchise created and directed by Seth MacFarlane, who starred with Mark Wahlberg.

The order further expands the franchise following the success of “Ted,” Peacock’s live-action prequel series.

MacFarlane of course will voice Ted, the foul-mouthed, magical talking teddy bear at the center of the story, with Wahlberg providing the voice of Ted’s human companion, John Bennett.

Also returning from the original films are Amanda Seyfried as John’s girlfriend, Sam Jackson, and Jessica Barth as Ted’s wife, Tami-Lynn.

Joining them are Kyle Mooney as the voice of “Apollo,” most likely Ted and Tami-Lynn’s adopted son from “Ted 2,” and Liz Richman (“Little America”), who plays “Polly” on Peacock’s “Ted” live-action series and will voice “Ruth” for the cartoon.

The show comes from...

Scarlett Johansson Is Lucky to Find Colin Jost After Divorce With Ryan Reynolds, This Romantic Story Will Tell You Why
Image
Some of us aren’t lucky enough to find true love on the first few tries, but that’s okay, because when cupid finally strikes, it’s more beautiful than we could’ve ever hoped for. Take Scarlett Johansson, for example. After the ups and downs she went through with Ryan Reynolds, including infidelity rumors, the actress is now in an extremely happy marriage with a man who not only loves her with his whole heart, but also supports her career – Colin Jost. Guess third time’s the charm!

The two were first linked together, romantically, back in 2017, and they made things official by getting engaged in 2019 and tying the knot a year later. Things have been going great since, and while the couple isn’t a stranger to romantic gestures, probably the sweetest of them all has to be when the Saturday Night Live host went dumpster diving for his wife.
