Some of the more violent scenes sort of have tamed down, and appear comical onscreen by today's standards, but back in 1971, they were deathly serious. It's still a hard R movie.
If you watch the movie on Disney+, there is a fair amount of bloody violence.

The plot of the film revolves around a police takedown of a drug ring; drugs are discussed by cops and criminals for much of the film. They also appear onscreen in the form of heroin, marijuana and pills, but none is ever shown actually being in use.
