Clint Eastwood’s Poignant Crime Drama Based on a True Story Is on Netflix Top Charts
Image
Clint Eastwood has reportedly bid his goodbye to Hollywood with last year’s directorial Juror #2. The nonagenarian filmmaker and actor has been one of the prolific creatives in Hollywood, with over forty credits as a director. He has explored a wide variety of genres, despite being known for his Westerns and war dramas.

Eastwood’s penultimate acting role came in The Mule, the 2018 crime drama based on the real-life World War II veteran, Leo Sharp. The film was a huge hit upon release, and Eastwood also served as the director for the film. Now, The Mule is reportedly on the top 10 list of popular movies on Netflix.

John Wayne's Final Movie Was A Perfect Send-Off For His Legendary Western Run
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

When principal photography commenced on "Rooster Cogburn" in the fall of 1974, John Wayne was 68 years old and not thinking about retirement. By the end of the shoot, the star was on oxygen after contracting viral pneumonia. Almost a year later, when it came time to promote the film's theatrical release, Wayne was Mia due to the same lingering case of pneumonia -- a frightening proposition given that the longtime smoker had lost a lung to cancer a decade prior.

If Wayne wasn't well enough to do a perfunctory round of interviews, he certainly wasn't in good enough shape to shoot another movie. But the star was determined to get back in the saddle and justified his eagerness by pointing out that he was still cancer-free. Even with one lung, a persistent cough wasn't going to take down the Duke. According...

Did Clint Eastwood’s 46 Year Old Prison Break Movie Inspire Donald Trump’s Alcatraz Idea?
Image
Clint Eastwood’s movies have inspired countless filmmakers and actors, but them also inspiring President Donald Trump to a policy change was not anyone’s bingo card. The President recently announced that he was planning to reopen Alcatraz prison and posted on Truth Social that he was directing the Bureau of Prisons to execute the same.

While it may seem like one more random decision from the Potus, who is notorious for random decisions, there seems to be a clear connection to how Trump got the idea. Many outlets reported that the day before Trump announced his plans for Alcatraz, PBS aired Clint Eastwood’s prison-break movie Escape from Alcatraz, which may have inspired the Potus.

Liam Neeson's First Major Action Movie Was A Clint Eastwood Flick
Image
Don Siegel's 1971 film "Dirty Harry" was written partly as a protest against the then-new Miranda Laws, passed by the Supreme Court decision Miranda v. Arizona in 1966. The film is about a grizzled San Francisco super-cop, Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood), on the trail of a serial killer nicknamed Scorpio (Andrew Robinson), modeled after the real-life Zodiac killer. Callahan was frustrated because he knew Scorpio was guilty, but he was using the auspices of "prisoner's rights" to flaunt the system and stay free. Callahan would need to go rogue to apprehend him.

Perhaps because of its topicality -- but likely because of its hard-boiled tone and memorable "gruff" lead character -- "Dirty Harry" was a gigantic hit, making $36 million on a $4 million budget. The character was indelible enough to return for multiple sequels over the years, each time pushing Callahan into a scenario wherein he would need to go rogue to...

Dirty Harry (1971) - 46665 Blu-Ray Review by Donald Munro
Clint Eastwood
The 1971 Clint Eastwood film Dirty Harry has been released in Uhd format. It is an influential, much referenced and misquoted. It is in the vanguard of the bleaker, more violent films that Hollywood would make in the 1970s.

The director Don Siegel and Cinematographer Bruce Surtees, sometimes known as the prince of darkness for his mastery of low light filming, create a film that is visually a blend of classic Hollywood western and expressionism. Right from the start, watching the film in 4K shows detail that has not previously been seen on the TV screen. When Harry (Eastwood) finds the location that the killer Scorpio (Andy Robinson) shot from, the camera looks across the city. The zig-zagging wall atop the 52-story Bank of America Center, behind it the faraway lattice of streets and...

Why John Wayne Refused To Join Clint Eastwood In A Thrilling Western
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

At the outset of the 1970s, John Wayne, arguably the biggest movie star of the 20th century, was making reasonably profitable movies at an impressively decent clip for a man who'd lost a lung to cancer. Though he looked considerably older than he was, he felt obliged to keep making films espousing conservative values for his aging fans and, whether they liked it or not, those goddamn pot-smoking, war-protesting, bra-burning Baby Boomers.

More often than not, Wayne's 1970s movies felt old-fashioned, but the actor, now in his 60s, was willing to tweak his image in order to keep up with moviegoers' changing tastes. After Wayne turned down the lead role in Don Siegel's "Dirty Harry" (a decision he regretted), he starred in the gritty-for-him cop drama "McQ." He also allowed himself to get killed off in Mark Rydell's...

“They had marine snipers coming on in the end”: Clint Eastwood Was Aghast After One of His Greatest Movies Nearly Turned Into ‘Fast and Furious’
Image
Clint Eastwood was the Man with no Name in the ‘60s, but in the ‘70s, everyone knew who Harry Callahan was. The no-nonsense cop from the Sfpd in Dirty Harry was known for his swift justice ways, which did not sit well with some of the sensibilities at the time. However, it did receive a lot of fanfare too, inspiring a bunch of cop films of a similar kind.

Eastwood was not the first actor to be approached to play Harry Callahan. The script reportedly went through several iterations before the Gran Torino star accepted the role. However, he was reportedly given multiple drafts of the script, which ranged from its original vision of a loose cannon cop to an action extravaganza much like the Fast and Furious films.

Clint Eastwood’s Most Politically Incorrect Movie Will Get a Special Honor From WB on April 29 After Butchering ‘Juror #2’
Image
Clint Eastwood has been hard at work since his acting debut, with the actor-filmmaker allegedly taking retirement after last year’s Juror #2. The courtroom drama was considered to be the nonagenarian filmmaker’s final movie, but the release was criticized by many fans due to Warner Bros. allegedly wanting to bury the film.

However, the studio is seemingly trying to make it right by the filmmaker with a tribute to their working relationship of over three decades, with a remaster and Blu-ray release of three of Eastwood’s films. The films, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Pale Rider, and Eastwood’s most divisive film, Dirty Harry, will all be available on 4K Blu-ray on April 29.

A Forgotten Clint Eastwood Cold War Movie Is A Must-Watch For Top Gun Fans
Image
Clint Eastwood turned 52 in 1982, but, as far as American moviegoers were concerned, he'd only been a movie star for 15 years (which is when all three chapters of the "Dollars Trilogy" were theatrically released in the United States). And though his "Dirty Harry" movies were viewed as politically conservative, he was still largely viewed as a revolutionary figure in film. His Westerns were revisionist and, for the time, incredibly violent; his cop flicks were unapologetically R-rated and, with "Every Which Way But Loose" and "Any Which Way You Can," he had every kid in the country wishing they could have a beer-swilling, bird-flipping orangutan as their best friend.

Throughout his career, Clint Eastwood has taken note of what kinds of movies are connecting with viewers and sought to place his own personal spin on them. He responded to the buddy-cop phenomenon of the 1980s with the the big-budget quasi-spoof "The Rookie...

15 Actors Who Play The Same Character In Every Movie
Image
Everyone has a favorite movie star. Whether you grew up cheering on Harrison Ford as he kicked the crap out of legions of Stormtroopers or laughed when Tom Hanks danced on a massive piano, at some point or another, an actor from Tinseltown captured your attention and forced you into a theater to witness their latest big-screen escapade. Julia Roberts, Denzel Washington, Meg Ryan, and Arnold Schwarzenegger all took the world by storm in their heyday and used their incredible good looks and rock star charisma to entertain the masses, often pulling in hundreds of millions of dollars simply by having their name at the top of a poster.

Still, being a Hollywood icon occasionally has its drawbacks. Often, an actor will leap into the spotlight by playing a specific character and then get stuck playing that character for the rest of their career. Here are 15 examples of such an occurrence -- and no,...

“It was the end of the road for me”: Clint Eastwood Knew He Could Never Surpass His Greatest Western That Broke the Genre Forever
Image
Clint Eastwood may have made his last film with Juror No.2, but he leaves behind a large legacy of incredible films. He has explored a wide variety of genres, from thrillers and comedies to war films and sports dramas. He has made several biographical films that have received immense acclaim, but he will forever be associated with the Western.

Eastwood became the cowboy of a generation when he starred in the TV show Rawhide and then in Sergio Leone’s Dollars trilogy. He directed several Westerns, too, exploring various themes and eras in America. However, he bid a small goodbye to the genre with his Oscar-winning revisionist take on the tropes of the genre, with Unforgiven.

In the Line Of Fire: Clint Eastwood’s Last Action Film Was Great
Image
Has there ever been a more iconic big-screen presence than Clint Eastwood? I’d be hard-pressed to name one, as while others like Sean Connery, Harrison Ford, and maybe Humphrey Bogart and John Wayne – if you go old school – can compare, there’s a lot more to Eastwood than anyone else. How so? Well, while most of his contemporaries were happy just to act in their films, Eastwood became the auteur of his work, directing many of his post-The Outlaw Josey Wales vehicles. When he opted to semi-retire from screen acting, he was able to carry on as a director, and in fact, despite being well into his nineties, he’s still directing movies, with his recent Juror No 2 being a little gem.

However, when In the Line of Fire was made in 1993, Eastwood was at something of a crossroads in his career. For the thirty years prior, starting...

Uwe Boll decides not to call his movie The Dark Knight, after chat with Warner Bros
Uwe Boll at an event for BloodRayne (2005)
Uwe Boll’s The Dark Knight is now Uwe Boll’s Citizen Vigilante. It still stars Armie Hammer. A conversation with Warner Bros took place.

In a week of news revelations from around the planet, here’s one that’s going to leave you on the floor. Filmmaker Uwe Boll’s next film will not, after all, be going by the name of The Dark Knight. It’s a shocking turn in film history, and you may need to sit on a very secure stool to steady yourself.

Variety is reporting that following feedback from confused Batman fans, and also a conversation with Warner Bros, Uwe Boll is going with a different title. His next movie will now be called Citizen Vigilante. “We had a very friendly conversation with Warner Bros and decided to change our title to ‘Citizen Vigilante’ to avoid any confusion with Warners’ famous character,” Boll told the outlet.

An Underrated Denzel Washington Movie Is Technically A Die Hard Spin-Off
Image
A "Cape Fear"-esque action crime thriller hit theaters in the autumn of 1991. This film, titled "Ricochet," started as a spec script that accidentally mirrored the plot of 1962's "Cape Fear" and was initially intended as a "Dirty Harry" installment featuring Clint Eastwood. After Eastwood rejected the script for being too grim, the script changed hands until "Die Hard" screenwriter Stephen de Souza rewrote chunks of it while still retaining the original premise.

The premise in question is a violent revenge plot, where a righteous attorney is stalked by a psychopath who wants an eye or eye, ready to go to extremes to enact his nefarious plan. A month after "Ricochet" premiered, Martin Scorsese's "Cape Fear" — an official remake of the 1962 version — handled this premise with chilling brilliance, etching a visceral picture of hatred and disgust that also boasts nuance. Although "Richochet" was already lacking in meaningful thrills or stakes,...

This 96% Gem Should Have Been Clint Eastwood's Final Western (& You Can Watch It on Paramount+ This Week)
Image
In the 1960s, Clint Eastwood was seen as a quintessential Western actor for films and shows like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Rawhide, A Fistful of Dollars, and For a Few Dollars More. But Eastwood’s 1992 film Unforgiven, which he also directed, put the actor on the map as an iconic filmmaker. Unforgiven, which won four Oscars in 1993, will stream on Paramount+ starting April 1.

The film won Eastwood his first Best Director Academy Award and also took home the Best Picture Oscar. Eastwood was nominated for his role in the film, portraying William Munny, a gunfighter known for his history of violence, who is trying to change his ways. The late Gene Hackman took home the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Sheriff “Little” Bill Daggett.

A Box Office Smash

The film was a huge hit, earning nearly $160 million worldwide against its modest budget of $14.4 million.

The Classic Western That Clint Eastwood Compared To James Bond
Image
It's no accident that when you envision Clint Eastwood in his most iconic roles, it's often accompanied by a cowboy hat and the scowl that made him one of our great movie stars. He's had a prolific career across just about every genre from action movies ("Dirty Harry") to psychological thrillers ("Play Misty For Me") and even romance dramas ("The Bridges of Madison County"). But let's face it, the man has a face that was born to star in westerns.

Eastwood's hail mary casting on the western television show "Rawhide," which he describes as a fluke, opened the door for more opportunities in the industry. He didn't take many roles across his impressive eight season stretch as cattle poker Rowdy Yates, but it didn't matter because the one he did secure led to the birth of one of his most recognizable characters and some of the best spaghetti westerns ever made.

John Wayne's 73-Year-Old Cold War Movie Broke a Major Career Trend That He Wouldn't Repeat for Another 2 Decades
Image
John Wayne was arguably Hollywood’s undisputed Western cowboy, known for playing tough lawmen and fearless gunfighters. From Stagecoach to Red River to Rio Grande, he represented the spirit of frontier justice, becoming the face of a genre that defined American cinema. Audiences expected him on horseback, rifle in hand, bringing order to lawless lands. But in 1952, Wayne stepped out of the Old West and into modern America’s political battlefield.

Big Jim McLain was a big departure from the films that made Wayne a star. Set in Hawaii, the film cast Wayne as a Cold War enforcer, eliminating traitors and exposing threats to national security. It was a role that aligned with his real-life politics, but it also marked a rare moment in his career. And while the film performed well at the box office, it would be more than two decades before Wayne played another modern-day officer.

Judge Rules Against Prince Harry, We’re About to Find Out if He Lied About Drugs on His US Visa

British royal family news reveals that a judge has ruled that Prince Harry’s US visa application files must be made public by Tuesday, 18, 2025.

The judge in the case, Carl Nichols, announced that Harry’s disputed documents must see the light of day, while all the while Harry himself has been mum in his own defense.

Think about it: If you were innocent of a vile charge brought against you, wouldn’t you speak out to defend yourself? Just a rhetorical question.

The Washington judge decreed that Harry’s paperwork will be released with “redactions suggested by the Department of Homeland Security.

The Dirty Harry Movie Series Has a Secret Finale Most Fans Probably Missed
Image
As far as Clint Eastwood's longtime fans are concerned, Inspector Harry Callahan (better known as "Dirty Harry") is dead. This isn't because the actor's most famous cop character died in his films, but because the series hasn't had a new entry since 1988. Not only did Eastwood himself officially declare that he retired Harry, but The Dead Pool was so bad it killed its franchise.

Officially speaking, the Dirty Harry films never got a proper conclusion. But on an unofficial basis, the series got the swan song fans and the character deserved as recently as 2005. However, none of the films' original cast and crew made this sequel. This is because Dirty Harry's finale is the unconnected comic book film Sin City, which did a better job at giving Harry his last hurrah than his actual final film did.

Winfield was known as “The King of Kustoms,” and his most famous creations include the iconic Galileo shuttlecraft and the Jupiter 8 for Star Trek — the latter seen in the episode “Bread and Circuses” — and the “spinners” for Blade Runner, which was nominated for the Special Effects Oscar. Why Sylvester Stallone Regrets A Cult Classic Action Thriller
Image
Rarely has a decade been as closely tied to a film genre in pop culture as the 1980s are to ridiculous action movies. The era of Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and others of their stripe certainly blend well into the '90s, but the '80s is where the big, beefy, sweaty, machine-gun-toting hero became a staple of cinema. Of course, as with any genre, there were better and worse attempts at hitting the mark with this particular brand of action film. Titles like "The Terminator" and "First Blood" gave credibility to their respective muscular stars, eschewing the camp and absurdity for high-concept sci-fi and gritty political character drama, respectively. But then there were the less artistically sophisticated films -- features like Schwarzenegger's "Commando" and Stallone's "Cobra," which came out back-to-back in 1985 and 1986.

"Cobra," specifically, has become something of a cult classic, in large part because of its cartoonish protagonist.

Sylvester Stallone Starred In A Legendarily Bad Video Game Based On One Of His Hits
Image
By 1993, Sylvester Stallone's career was in a precarious place. The "Rocky" and "Rambo" star hadn't yet reached the stage where he could be described as washed up — a point he arguably reached by the early 2000s before reviving his career with the excellent "Rocky Balboa." But the early '90s were a tricky time for Stallone. His last "Rambo" movie, 1988's "Rambo III" had failed to make as much as its predecessor and his last "Rocky" movie, 1990's "Rocky V" was a historic low point for the franchise that originally made Sly a star. Once Arnold Schwarzenegger tricked Stallone into starring in the 1992 flop "Stop! Or my Mom will Shoot," the man's career was in serious jeopardy.

In 1993, however, Stallone had somewhat of a mini comeback, starting with mountain climbing action thriller "Cliffhanger," which was not only a commercial success but managed to impress enough critics that it seemed...

Gene Hackman's Most Underrated Performance Is A Sequel To One Of His Most Celebrated
Image
Although long-running franchises have become a seemingly permanent part of our current cinematic landscape, there's an argument to be made that even the most consistently high-quality series are subject to diminishing returns. The question of whether a sequel can match or surpass an original is still a topic of debate, and it's one that reaches all the way back to an era when sequels were hardly as common as they are now. While the debate makes sense on the surface — after all, on paper, how can any sequel be as fresh and unique as an original? — it's perhaps based on the wrong question. Maybe, despite all the constant franchise rankings and the like, we shouldn't be asking whether a sequel surpasses its predecessor, but rather what new depths and richness are brought to the material that enhances the franchise as a whole.

It's through that lens that I view 1975's "French Connection II,...

52 Years Later, This Underrated Dirty Harry Sequel Is Still Better Than Clint Eastwood's Original
Image
It goes without saying that Dirty Harryis one of Clint Eastwood's most defining films and that it's an irreplaceable classic of the crime genre. Even to this day, the influence of San Francisco Police Department (Sfpd) Inspector Harry Callahan's (better known as "Dirty Harry") cinematic debut can still be felt. Dirty Harry himself has become something of a cliché. The same, however, can't be said for his sequels.

Much like any hit action film made in the '70s, Dirty Harry was a victim of its own success, as proven by its four sequels of varying qualities, inconsistent reception and diminishing returns. While this applies to weaker installments like the buddy-cop The Enforcer or the ludicrous The Dead Pool, the series' second installment — Magnum Force — is unfairly dragged down by association. This is unfortunate, since Dirty Harry's first sequel is arguably much better than the original.

Clint Eastwood's 54-Year-Old Civil War Movie Is Also 1 of the Most Gripping Psychological Thrillers of All Time
Image
An actor whose bravado has graced the silver screen for decades, Clint Eastwood is best known for his tough and apathetic characters. His roles became the archetype for cinematic heroes of the 60s and 70s, shaping an entire generation's understanding of heroism. However, in The Beguiled, Eastwood takes on a role that defies his usual tough-guy persona for something more vulnerable and exposed.

Set against the backdrop of the Civil War, The Beguiled is a psychological thriller that follows Eastwood’s John McBurney, a wounded Union soldier who finds refuge at a girls’ boarding school in Mississippi. Contrary to traditional war films, The Beguiled is a feministic exploration of power dynamics between soldiers and the women left behind. Through isolation and desire, the film explores how vulnerability and manipulation shape the struggle for survival.

The Beguiled Is an Atypical Exploration of Gender Dynamics

John Wayne Copied Clint Eastwood With These '70s Cop Thrillers
Image
John Wayne won his first and only Academy Award for his memorable performance as cantankerous lawman Rooster Cogburn in True Grit. The 1969 Western marked Wayne’s last triumph within the genre, which he had virtually dominated since his star-making role in the 1939 Western film Stagecoach.

In the early 1970s, Wayne’s box-office standing was being threatened by the advance of a younger generation of Hollywood leading men, led by Clint Eastwood, whose rise to superstardom coincided with Wayne’s commercial decline. Wayne hastened this transition by turning down the titular starring role in the 1971 action thriller film Dirty Harry, which enabled Eastwood to transcend the international stardom he’d gained from Sergio Leone’s Dollars Trilogy film series and become Hollywood’s foremost action star.

“A really good script, but it’s politically incorrect”: Most Would’ve Walked Away but Clint Eastwood Instantly Agreed to One Movie That Became a $270M Masterpiece
Image
Clint Eastwood has been known for his gritty, small-budget, and dramatic films that contend with themes ranging from war to sports to thrillers. As the Hollywood tough guy, Eastwood has established a career in film as the hero of Spaghetti Westerns before moving on to macho action hero. But in his third act as a director, Eastwood truly found greatness and a legacy to contend with.

With 11 Oscar nominations to his name, the Dirty Harry actor has one too many movies to define him as a filmmaker. Among his numerous notable works, Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Unforgiven, and Letters from Iwo Jima stand out as exceptional works of art. However, no film other than Gran Torino has been able to break down one truly defining barrier in Hollywood.

Roberta Flack: Legendary Singer dead at 88
Image
We’ve got some sad news this morning, with it revealed that the legendary R&b singer Roberta Flack has passed away at 88 years old. The singer fought a long battle with Als and has been retired since 2022. Flack had a series of number-one hits on the Billboard Top 40, with “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” “Feel Like Makin’ Love,” and the iconic “Killing Me Softy With His Song.” That last song received new life in the nineties when it was covered by The Fugees.

Flack was seen as one of the pioneers of the “quiet storm” genre of R&b which dominated radio throughout much of the seventies. Basically, the genre mixed smooth, jazz-flavoured grooves with R&B, and Flack was among it’s most prolific stars. The genre fell out of favor in the mid-eighties, but Flack remained much in demand. In the mid-eighties, she...

Clint Eastwood Was on the Verge of Retiring From Acting Until This Powerful, Oscar-Winning Movie Came Along
Image
Clint Eastwoodis one of the most renowned and notable names in Hollywood today. He first made a name for himself in Westerns and action flicks such as the Dirty Harry films, and the Dollars trilogy, and from there his career flourished to new and exciting heights. His prowess as an actor and familiarity on sets, also gave him an itch to try his hand at directing and producing, and he eventually pivoted in that direction in the later half of his career. So much so, in fact, that he almost retired from acting entirely, and would have had the film Million Dollar Baby not come to him when it did.

Reacher Season 3 Review — Ritchson and Company Remain Relentlessly Entertaining!
Image
It’s hard to imagine that Alan Ritchson so seamlessly fit into the Reacher role — so much so that he pushed aside one of the biggest stars on the planet, Tom Cruise. Before starring in the Prime Video adaptation of Lee Child’s uber-popular book series, the behemoth of a man with the voice of an angel was best known as “Young Scully,” and the cult hit Blue Mountain State.

Now, in his third outing as Jack Reacher, Ritchson remains in the role, relentlessly entertaining. He continues to possess pitch-perfect comic delivery with an edge that creator Nick Santora knows is essential to the series’ success.

It’s like watching Dirty Harry on steroids, combined with the deductive reasoning of Agatha Christie — without the need to fill the air with exhausting explanations. Reacher’s third season is about the baddest man on television with a code since Omar Little.

Clint Eastwood’s ‘Play Misty for Me’ Carved Out an Entire Horror Subgenre [Make My Day Podcast]
Image
Clint Eastwood, ever heard of him? Of course you have … though maybe not around these parts. Whether he’s on screen, behind the camera, or, hell, even both, the two-time Oscar winner is best known for grounded dramas, cutting-edge westerns, crime thrillers, left-of-the-dial comedies, biopics, and the list goes on. But Horror? Short of his bit parts in The Witches and Revenge of the Creature, you’d have to bend the tenets of the genre to make it work.

The most malleable of his films to the Horror genre is his directorial debut: 1971’s Play Misty for Me. Written by Jo Heims and Dean Riesner, the taut thriller pre-dates the “-from hell” subgenre (think: Fatal Attraction) by nearly two decades. It’s also a better movie than most of them. Eastwood not only proves to be the lean and mean director we know and respect today from the get-go, but...

The film noir genre is a timeless genre that initially emerged on the silver screen during the 1930s and reached its peak of popularity during the 1940s and 1950s and is defined as the glory days of classic noir. Amy Aquino and Andrew Robinson join Spider-Noir in recurring roles
Image
Longlegs star Nicolas Cage voiced the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man Noir in the animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and we’re going to have the chance to watch him play the character in live-action in the upcoming MGM+ and Prime Video series that’s going by the title Spider-Noir. That show is currently in production, and today, Deadline revealed that the recurring cast includes Amy Aquino (Bosch) and Andrew Robinson (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine)!

I’m especially excited to hear that Andrew Robinson is involved with this show, because he has been largely absent from our screens for way too long. The character actors has racked up over 100 credits over the course of a career that stretches back to 1969, with Dirty Harry, Mask, Cobra, Hellraiser, Shoot to Kill, Child’s Play 3, Trancers III, Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings, and The Puppet Masters being among the many movies you might have seen him in.

The 12 Best Clint Eastwood Westerns, Ranked
Image
Western movies have seen a variety of talented actors build their careers through roles as cowboys, lawmen, and bounty hunters, but few have commanded the genre as well as Clint Eastwood. Building up an image as a gritty, self-reliant, and morally grey antihero, the actor/director has left as strong an impression behind the camera as in front. The image he established in the Western genre was so strong and beloved that it followed him through other genres, such as action, thriller, and drama.

Clint Eastwood's leadership of the Western genre throughout the latter half of the 20th century defined his career, rarely turning in a bad movie. As great as roles like Dirty Harry may be, the actor has always been at his best in the Old West -- and some films are a stronger testament to this than others. Ranging from performances as bounty hunters to vengeful spirits,...

The Canceled Adaptation That Would Have Been Clint Eastwood's Video Game Debut
Image
When you think of "Dirty Harry," you most likely think of the seminal 1971 action thriller and not of the four official "Dirty Harry" films that came in its wake (five if you count 2008's "Gran Torino"). The original film remains one of the best action movies, and arguably best films, of the 20th Century, somehow appealing to our base appetite for all-out action while also presenting a nuanced portrayal of its problematic protagonist. Is Harry Callahan merely a walking advertisement for the efficacy of police brutality, or someone hampered in his pursuit of justice by a society that cares more about bureaucracy than actually catching the bad guy? It's not entirely clear in Don Siegel's film, which is part of the reason why it endures to this day.

But for better or worse, Eastwood did make a heck of a lot of follow-ups to "Dirty Harry" — a controversial film...
