A murder occurs just as the San Francisco cable car is being turned around at the end of the line, obviously a murder, occurring as a distraction when three young boys play a dangerous prank at the same time that it comes to the end of the line. The police check out some organized crime connections to the victim and the kids involved in the distraction, and this leads to a lot of twists and turns that are rather convoluted at times.
Supporting roles include Simon Oakland as investigator Robert Hooks' boss, Jeremy Slate as his partner, Carol Lynley and in celebrity cameos, Oscar Winner Jose Ferrer and Robert Wagner. While the cast is impressive, the story gets a bit off track here and there. But literally shooting on the Streets of San Francisco ( both with a camera and several shootouts), there's a lot of opportunity to see some of the great sites way up high, most memorably a park that overlooks the Golden Gate Bridge and some of the very steep streets. This could have easily been cut down to 75 minutes as many TV movie pilots were, but it drags out unfortunately to over 90.
