      Multiple visual quotations and allusions.
    • The Company of Wolves (1984)

The Company of Wolves is an homage to Valerie and Her Week of Wonders. In both films, a young girl experiences a loosely connected series of beautiful and perilous dreams inspired by her first menstruation, set in and around her European village and filled with erotic symbolism, predatory folkloric monsters, a shapeshifting Granny, and images of fruit, herbs, flowers, fountains, coffins, weddings, tears, trees, and blood.
    • Rusalka (TV Movie 1986)

The 1986 ENO production of the fairytale opera "Rusalka" has heavy similarities to "Valerie", featuring a teenage girl descending into a dream fantasy world which illuminates her fears of adulthood. Rusalka also features 19th century influences and white and black costumes, similar to those in "Valerie"
    • Big Fish (2003)

Tim Burton was inspired by ending of Valerie and used the same carnivale-like crowd meeting.

Remade as

    • Valerie a týden divu Latrina Magika V.A.D. (Video 2021)

      adapts the same novel
