The exterior and interior shots, as well as the front and back, of the house do not match. (1) The exterior looks as if the house may be a split level, but the interior shows the house two full levels plus a full attic. (2) The exterior shows the second level to be on the left side of the house, but the interior has the stairs to the second floor on the right side of the house. (3) The back yard shows the driveway from the front being on the left side of the house, but the driveway from the front is shown to be on the right side of the house.
Some inconsistencies in some of the kids' ages. In Season 1, Cindy is said to be 6 years old. Yet in Season 2, she is said to be 8 years old. In Season 3, Marcia is said to be 3 years older than Jan. Marcia is 12 in Season 1, meaning Jan would be 9. Yet in Season 2, Jan turns 12.
When Marcia receives her drivers license the year of 1956 is given as her birth. This means, unless she was left back, she would graduate from high school in 1974. When she runs against Greg for student body president it is learned that Greg is a full year older than she is. The last episode of the series, aired in 1974, has Greg graduating from high school. However, given Marcia's birth year she should not only be the same age as Greg but should also be graduating high school with him.
Each time the front of the Brady house is shown as though it were "evening," the same shot is used for "daytime." The evening shot of the house is only darkened. The same shadow that can be seen in the daytime shot in the lower right corner (caused by the roof) is seen on the evening shot.
Many episodes show that the backyard's green floor is actually padded felt carpet and not even AstroTurf. This was so the child actors could fall down safely on it. It can be seen in most notably in Bobby's Hero (1973).
The series never shows Alice having her own bathroom. The house clearly must have at least 3 full baths for the nine people who live there as it would be very difficult for Alice to use the children's upstairs bathroom and very unlikely that Brady parent would allow her to use their master bedroom one.
However, in the five year run of the program, Alice's bathroom is never shown although her rather tiny maid's quarters are several times.
Mike Brady is shown to be an employee (not even a partner) in his architectural firm. That means unless he was paid substantial bonuses, his salary by 1970s standards would be far too low to support the costs of a live-in maid like Alice. This becomes even more apparent when the series makes it clear that Carol Brady does not work and thus Mike's income is the only thing supporting nine people, including himself.
Considering that Brady's have six children, including two already in adolescence when the series begins and Mike is an architect, no reason is given why they didn't purchase a much larger home. After all, they are apparently wealthy enough to employ a live-in maid, take expensive vacations and not to have Carol work.
The series attempts to tackle this later with Greg getting an attic room of his own. However, why this wasn't done in the first place is never explained; nor is why they don't on an addition or even consider a larger dwelling as time went by.
