After Susan drives Peter to the airport, the chase sceen from Bullitt in which Frank Bullitt runs after the villain on the tarmac at the San Fransisco International Airport is shown. The film then cuts back to Peter seated in a commercial airplane, watching the film on a screen.
The character Frank Shaft spoofs Frank Bullitt; he is from San Francisco, dresses similarly and clashes with a politican over a murder investigation. He is later involved in a car chase which largely imitates the one in Bullitt.
