The scene where Rowena shatters the mirror revealing the staircase to the secret room and cuts her finger on the glass is uncannily similar to the scene in Disney's Sleeping Beauty (5 years earlier) in which Briar Rose pricks her finger on the spinning wheel and the staircase appears inside the fireplace.
