    See the U.S.A.

NBC presented a musical entertainment show for fifteen minutes prior to the evening news, John Cameron Swayze's "Camel News Caravan." On Wednesdays and Fridays, Eddie Fisher sang his popular songs, many of them nation-wide hits at the time. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, vivacious Dinah Shore with her captivating southern drawl held sway with songs made famous by her and by others. Her long-time piano accompanist, Ticker Freeman, was given an opportunity to exhibit his piano skills by performing solos from time to time. Often guests from the world of entertainment would visit with Dinah and were given a chance to show their talents to TV Land. Chevrolet was her sponsor, as Coke was Eddie Fisher's and Camel Cigarettes John Cameron Swayze's. As in radio, most early television shows worked the sponsor into the program; for example, Swayze reported the news with an ashtray in front of him. Dinah would blow a kiss to the audience and sing, "See the U.S.A. in your Chevrolet."
