Claudia Barrett and George Nader in Robot Monster (1953)

Goofs

Robot Monster

Edit

Continuity

Ro-man goes to tie Alice up, but decides it will take too long, so he knocks her unconscious. He answers his message, and then turns around to see a fully conscious Alice tied up.
When Ro-Man ties Alice up, her hands are up and the straps of her dress are hanging loose. He ties a single loop around her chest that includes her hands. When he goes back to her, the straps of her dress are behind the rope, which goes around her several times. Her hands are tied together in her lap, and there is also a rope around her ankles which was not there.
When Alice and Roy are working to upgrade the transmitter, the hands of what are supposedly the characters are seen in close up working. One of the hands has a wristwatch on the wrist, but neither of the characters wear a wristwatch in the film.
When the Professor tells Roy and his daughter that he would be happy to perform their marriage ceremony, he is holding a book in his right hand. In the next shot, the book is nowhere to be seen.

Factual errors

Selena Royle's name is misspelled, in the opening credits, as "Selena Royale."

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

Ro-man can detect how many people are left on the earth, but can't detect Roy hiding around the corner from his cave just 15 feet away.

The plotline takes place in the dream of a young boy, so there are going to be some obvious inconsistencies.
Wherever Alice is, when she needs to be tied up there's always plenty of telephone cable available to do the job.

Revealing mistakes

In at least one shot, both the top of Bronson Canyon and a house are visible. Furthermore, the house's resident (a woman wearing a house-dress) can be seen standing in her driveway watching the film crew shooting the strange sci-fi movie below.
When she is supposed to be fighting against the Ro-Man who is carrying her, Claudia Barrett playing Alice is enjoying it too much as seen by her smiles.
The "Great one" is clearly seen feeling for his switches on several occasions while talking to Ro-Man, as the actor in the suit can't see them.
Throughout the movie, especially in close-ups, the suit actor's face can be seen through the fabric under Ro-Man's helmet.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

At 20:00, when the group is talking, it is obvious that some of Alice and Roy's lines were dubbed in later as the lips don't match and the ambient natural sound is missing.
The voices of Ro-man and his leader are entirely overdubbed in post-production. Stuntman George Barrows, miming his parts on camera, effects hand gestures that rarely match what's being said.

Crew or equipment visible

Obvious hand holding the rocket ship flying to earth.
Throughout the movie, especially in close-ups, the suit actor's face can be seen through the fabric under Ro-Man's helmet.

Character error

When Roy and Alice told Carla to go home she is going the wrong way.
