- Richard Harland: When I looked at you, exotic words drifted across the mirror of my mind like clouds across the summer sky.
- Russell Quinton: I loved you.
- Ellen Berent Harland: That's a concession.
- Russell Quinton: And I'm still in love with you.
- Ellen Berent Harland: That's a tribute.
- Russell Quinton: And I always will be. Remember that.
- Ellen Berent Harland: Russ, is that a threat?
- Richard Harland: [Ellen swims up, placing hands on pool deck] You've lost your ring.
- Ellen Berent Harland: [Glances at her barren hand then back up] No. I took it off an hour ago... Forever.
- Ellen Berent Harland: I keep forgetting you can't draw a deep breath without being heard all over the house!
- Ellen Berent Harland: Let's change the name of the place from Back Of The Moon to Goldfish Manor.
- Ellen Berent Harland: You're not making very much progress, Danny ... are you all right?
- Danny Harland: I'm a little winded. I had a kink in my side, but it's gone now.
- Ellen Berent Harland: You'd better float for a while.
- Danny Harland: I ... I think I'm getting tired.
- Ellen Berent Harland: Take it easy. You don't want to give up when you've come so far.
- Danny Harland: Okay. I'll get my second wind in a minute ... Oh! The wa-the water's colder than I thought. I ate too much lunch. I have a stomach ache! Ellen: it's-it's a cramp. Ellen, it's a cramp!
- [Ellen stares passively]
- Danny Harland: Ellen! Ellen! Help me!
- [sinks under water]
- Ellen Berent Harland: I know you'll understand, Dr. Mason. I gave up my honeymoon to come here so that my husband could be with his brother. But he's been working, and the burden's been on me. I've spent hours here, every day. I was glad to do it. It was no sacrifice at all. I love Danny as much as he does. And I'm just as happy as he is that Danny's doing so well. But after all, he's a cripple!
- Richard Harland: Mmm. This is about the tastiest sandwich I've ever eaten. What is it?
- Ellen Berent Harland: Wild turkey. Ever hunted them?
- Richard Harland: No, I haven't.
- Ellen Berent Harland: It's tricky shooting. They're sort of scared, but they're so big and clumsy, they hate to take wing. It's a lot of fun.
