The Oogie Boogie song is a direct reference to the Cab Calloway song Minnie The Moocher, and the situation in which Sandy Claws is during the song is similar to the Betty Boop movie. Danny Elfman, who wrote all the the songs for Nightmare, is a rabid Calloway fan.
