The Universal Boy happens to be visiting Ellis Island when Burdett makes his appearance. Burdett is being examined. Our hero notes the vindictive manner in which the foreign conspirators are laying their chances against him. From the unfortunate man's wife the boy learns the trouble; he learns that if the pair are deported it will mean death for them when they reach the other side, so he plans to help them escape. Matty leaves the Island and calls up his friend, Judge Leon Sanders; he explains the situation and invokes his aid. The judge accompanies the boy to the Island. They arrive in time to hear the decision by the board that Burdett and his wife should be deported. The judge interferes; he talks with the young foreigner and is much impressed with his apparent education.
