Leslie William Nielsen was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and raised in Tulita (formerly Fort Norman), Northwest Territories. His mother, Mabel Elizabeth (Davies), was Welsh. His father, Ingvard Eversen Nielsen, was a Danish-born Mountie and a strict disciplinarian. Leslie studied at the Academy of Radio Arts in Toronto before moving on to New York's Neighborhood Playhouse. His acting career started at a much earlier age when he was forced to lie to his father in order to avoid severe punishment. Leslie starred in over fifty films and many more television films. One of his two brothers became the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada. On October 10, 2002, he was appointed Officer of the Order of Canada (OC) in recognition of his contributions to the film and television industries. On November 28, 2010, Leslie Nielsen died at age 84 of pneumonia and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.- Actor

He continued acting till the mid 1970s when he retired so continue another great passion of his, Poetry, and even published a book called "Che Strano Paese".

At school he was a member of Krivoy Rog teams in several sports - football, volleyball, basketball, athletics and table tennis. By high school he finally settled on football. Played as a goalkeeper.
In 1955 he was invited to Metallurg Dnepropetrovsk. In 1956 he began playing for Lokomotiv Moscow. In 1957, he won the USSR Cup with Lokomotiv. In 1962, Vladimir Maslachenko moved to Spartak Moscow, for which he played until 1969. Since 1966 he was the captain of Spartak. In 1957, he was included in the main team of the USSR national team, traveled with it to the 1958 World Cup and defended its goal in the qualifying games for the 1962 World Cup. He was a member of the team at the 1960 European Championships, when the Soviet team won the tournament, and the 1962 World Championships.
