Henrik Ibsen was born on March 20th in Stockmannsgerden in Skien. His mother was Marichen and his father was Knud, a merchant. On 1835 his father gave up his business and the family moved to Venstop, a farm in Gjerpen. In 1843 he confirmed in Gjerpen church and left home in order to apprentice to Jens Aarup Reinmann, chemist. Three years later his first son was born by Else Sophie Jesdatter. On 1849 he wrote Catiline which was published a year later. On September 26, 1850 the first Ibsen staging in history took place; the one-act The Burial Mound was performed at Cristiania Theater. Two years later he started directing productions at Det norske Theater in Bergen. From 1853 to 1877 he wrote the plays St. John's night, Lady Inger, The feast at Solhoug, Olaf Liliekrans, The Vikings at Helgeland, Love's comedy, The pretenders, Brand, Peer Gynt, The League of Youth, Emperor and Galilean and Pillars of Society and the poems Life on the Upland, Terje Vigen and Balloon letter to a Swedish lady. Meanwhile he married Suzannah Thoresen in 1858 and his second son Sigurg was born a year later. In 1878 he moved to Rome where he lived for seven years. There he started writing the circle of his 11 last plays that made him classic; A Doll's House (1879), Ghosts (1881), An Enemy of the people (1882), The Wild Duck (1884), Rosmersholm (1886), The Lady from the Sea (1888), Hedda Gabler (1890), The Master Builder (1892), Little Ejolf (1894) John Gabriel Borkman (1896) and his last one When We Dead Awaken (1898). The same year large-scale celebrations took place in Christiania, Copenhagen and Stockholm for his 70th birthday. Two years later he had his first stroke. On May 23rd 1906 he died.- Susan B. Anthony was an American social reformer and women's rights activist who played a pivotal role in the women's suffrage movement. Born into a Quaker family committed to social equality, she collected anti-slavery petitions at the age of 17. In 1856, she became the New York state agent for the American Anti-Slavery Society.

- He was born into the feudal royal family of Travancore (now part of the state of Kerala in South India). Varma's contribution to iconography and lithographs in Indian painting is significant. He apprenticed under the court painter Ramaswamy Naicker and even studied under the tutelage of the Dutch painter Theodore Jensen. Varma was very popular among the British authorities in having him do their portraits. He is more well known today for his paintings of scenes from Indian mythology that have an 'academic' style. In 1894 he mass produced his olegraphs at Lonavala. His paintings had a significant impact on Indian theatre. The Sangeet Natnak used his style of rendering for their stage backdrops that was quickly imitated by others. The poet and novelist Kerala Varma (1845-1914) has written extensively about him.
- Gaynor Rowlands was born in London, England. Her parents were both from Wales, She started her career as a ballet dancer at the Empire Theatre in London. At the age of seventeen she joined the chorus line of George Edwardes' Gaiety Theatre. Then she toured India as a "Gaiety Girl" dancer. In 1903 she returned to the Gaiety Theatre to appear in The Toreador. The red-headed beauty quickly became one of the most popular musical comedy stars in England. Gaynor starred in numerous shows including The Orchid, The Spring Chicken, and My Lady Molly. She was known for her charming singing voice and her sparkling smile.
Her nickname was "The Nightingale of Wales". While on vacation in France she met novelist Gilbert Frankau. The two spent a lot of time together but always claimed their relationship was platonic. During the Summer of 1906 she suffered an appendicitis and had to have an operation. Unfortunately there were complications and her health quickly deteriorated. Tragically on July 18, 1906 she died from heart failure. Gaynor was only twenty-three years old. She was buried at East Finchley Cemetery and Crematorium East Finchley, England. - Robert N. - Ena Bertoldi born Beatrice Mary Claxton in Sheffield, England in 1876 from a family of acrobats, she began working in music hall theatre's from childhood from 1884, later she toured Europe and America throughout the late 1880's and 1890's, she became highly famous as a contortionist in the US and featured in a couple of very early short films 'Bertoldi Mouth Support' and 'Bertoldi Table Contortion' made by the Edison Kinetoscope, filming at the Black Maria studio in West Orange in 1894. She died from alcoholism at the age of only 30 years old in London, England.

Composer, songwriter ("My Gal Sal", "On the Banks of the Wabash" [the official Indiana state song]), author, actor, singer, publisher and producer, educated at St. Meinrad's in Switz City, Indiana during training for the priesthood. He joined a medicine show at 16, then toured in vaudeville as a singer and monologist. In 1885, he was the 'end man' with the Billy Rice Minstrels. He joined the publishing firm of Howley, Haviland & Dresser, and then he formed his own firm.
