SUMMARY
The story of Ryota, a young man broken after the death of his brother, using basketball to deal with his grief. In the end, they win barely with one basket and by one point, with the red-headed Sakuragi pulling the team together with brash antics.

While I went in just thinking that this was simple, straightforward "sports" movie, The First Slam Dunk weaves together an emotional tale of grief with a thrilling basketball game, and thoroughly fleshes out its five ensemble characters in the space of one movie. I have to give credit to the amazing innovative visuals as well. A beautiful blend of 2D and 3D.
