Wipeout (2008–2014)
1/10
I always thought this was mean-spirited

I was 15 when Wipeout first came on. You'd think being a young teenager I would've thought it was hilarious. No way - I remember watching in horror. I never laughed, not even once. I'm all for people going on a game show to compete for money, if that's what they choose to do, but you have to be sadistic to derive enjoyment out of this show. Contestants navigate an obstacle course that was intentionally designed to make them crash and fall on their face. It doesn't help that the audience has to listen to the hosts, John Anderson and John Henson, make dumb and sarcastic comments the whole time. Whoever wins gets $50,000. I play a game that's similar to this on Wii Fit, and it's super fun. But when it comes to real people, the whole obstacle course thing doesn't work. No amount of money is worth injuring yourself for, unless you play a high contact sport professionally... And even then, it still might not be worth the injuries. After seeing what happened at the Bills and Bengals game, I'm even more turned off by this show. By the time I saw it, medical personnel were administering CPR to Damar Hamlin. He pretty much died on the field (thank God he's doing so much better!). I wish I hadn't searched for a video on YouTube of him tackling a player from the opposing team, getting up, and then collapsing. I found myself replaying his collapse over and over again in my mind all night long. I'm surprised I was able to sleep. Not to sound dramatic, but if one of the contestants had hit a gigantic ball or some other structure at the wrong angle, they could've possibly died. Once you think about it like that, it becomes less humorous. I'm glad no one lost their life. Don't waste your time. There's so many other game shows to watch where people don't risk their life.
